- GREEK MYTHOLOGY: Apollo's Vengeance and Humbling
After the death of his son, Apollo is in despair. He goes to his mother, and formulates a plan to defeat that man that killed his son. His own Father, Zeus, the king of Olympus...
Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.
This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.
All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

@@livingmythology1405Zeus being a patricode like his dad, I guess he's always prompt to extinguish any possible trace of betrayal.
The old bastard was merciless and scheming as much as Odin was.
@@livingmythology1405it bothers me that zeus and poseidon as well as their sons were never held accountable for their infidelity and rapes.
Absolutely love how you depict zeus in these days we fokes so much on his affairs we forget how power full he was in those old storys.
Thank you so much - he was the king of the gods and the skies for a reason after all!

@@livingmythology1405the hard work and dedication pays off, there are some really amazing episodes
I know you may hear this frequently, but this video was fantastic! Wonderfully done! Apollo's anger, Leto's worry, the thoughts of Zeus, and all the actions in-between had me riveted. Thank you both for the tale- I most certainly look forward to the next one!
What he did to Cassandra was unforgivable.
This is a much better version of "lucifers rebellion"
It is Lucifer rebellion that’s why they don’t go in depth about it
My mood has been dark as of late. So, I am glad for your stories.
Thank you, both of you.
We are happy to help shine a light on a dark day my friend.

Many, many thanks for this Mr B and Lightbringer a great surprise on a boring monday night!!. Apollo learnt the hard way not to cross Zeus. As always thanks for your time and effort, and greetings from Kilkenny.
Our pleasure! Yes Zeus taught Apollo a lesson he shan't soon forget!
Thanks for watching my friend, and as ever, we send our warm greetings back to you in Kilkenny!

I can't explain exactly why in a comment section here, but for some reason the whole moral or undertone of this whole story of Zeus, Apollo & Asclepius has elements of Book of Job feeling to it, a book that once upon a time had me despising The Biblical God but with time and life experience has come to make a lot sense.
Awesome tale…..the gods are so complex and yet so simplistic….
Thank you my friend - yes they are very complicated but simple creatures... Very well put!!!

These are so good. Thank you for sharing your gifts. I don't know about anyone else, but these tales enrich the day so much.

Now there is myth were during Trojan war tords the end ares And Athena get In fight Ares get badly hurt and he runs back to Zeus crying and bleed all over place and then Zeus makes the rull that the gods can no long Directly interfere with mortals after that.

Zeus fight scene?! Amazingggggg
Thank you so much!
- Lightbringer
I’m not sure I agree with the whole of the framing here. In the myths and the timeline of your retellings, Apollo has been a major participant in the Gigantomachy and has seen Zeus defeat Typhon. This doesn’t match up with the characterisation here, unless it’s is meant to be before them both.
I don't think he saw Zeus fight Typhon. Rewatch the typhoon video. Apollo ran away from typhoon. Hera was the only person who saw Zeus fight typhoon
The titaness have all witnessed zeus being the champion during the titanomachy when they had no weapons.
Some myths. Many may have different chronologies. There are dozens of sources. And they are trying to make a cohesive narrative. So many timelines you consider the important ones don’t add up.
Its eye opening when someone closes your eye with a fist. Lets you know where you stand
Very true my friend

Great video. Though I find myself angered by Apollo's actions. Challenge Zeus. Fine. Killing otherwise innocent beings on account of your own personal vendetta? Unforgiveable. That itself should have been a trip to Tartarus. Perhaps I am being unreasonable.
Oooh this’ll be good
I hope you enjoyed!

@@livingmythology1405 hehe I certainly did and I am curious if this will tie into the later myth where [redacted] and [redacted] try to [redacted] Zeus but once again I enjoy your take on these tales and look forward for more 👍

A good idea indeed

@@livingmythology1405 hehe I’ll be looking forward to it
Quick question, are you saying Hades chooses not to fight Zeus for power out of love for his brother and respect for his job, as opposed to, him being too weak to take Zeus? I personally believe that is truly the case. Hades never raised his hand against Zeus, but Poseidon Hera Athena and Apollo have.
I love your series!
Youth and exuberance is no match for old age and treachery. This is a prime example of why you do not challenge dad without good cause. 😂
So true my friend!
- Lightbringer
i have an idea for a what if video what if kronos was a good father and brother
why not do what if videos
Ah, the typical arrogance of an Olympian. For all of Appollo's powers of prophecy and insight, he is shown to be an ignorant boy, foolish enough to think he can challenge both the lord of the sky, and the lord of the underworld. But now he knows why Zeus is king, and if you're going to strike the king, you better kill the king... or suffer the consequences! And poor Leto. To see both her lover and her son go to battle against one another. A fitting and epic end to the Tragedy of Asclepius, and I can't wait to what you narrate next.
Thank you so much my friend! It is a heart wrenching tale, but there are plenty more to come!
- Lightbringer
@@livingmythology1405Apollo was never on my favorite list.
Lucifer based off Apollo the watcher and fallen angel who tried to use the sun against Zeus
Noice
One thing I think is that in mythology Hera had Hephaestus so ugly precisely because she was consumed by the desire for revenge against her husband, consequently Hephaestus was born ugly and immediately rejected by her, then of course revenge on his part.
A story that teaches what it means to be conceived in the womb of a woman full of hatred who gives birth to monsters.
If it had gone differently, if Hera had wanted Hephaestus not out of pure revenge but out of pure justice, he would have been a more divine son than Apollo himself (perhaps), with a truly rich marriage with Aphrodite.
Ares already had a perfect lover, the Goddess Enyo!
Yay/!_
