Summary
1. Nomination - ability of starting a conversation
2. Restriction - listener is forced to respond on a specific topic given by a speaker
3. Turn-taking (from the word itself, taking turns) - others are given an opportunity to start a new topic after the topic that the previous speaker discussed
4. Topic Control - This is used to control and prevent unnecessary interruptions or topic shifts in a certain conversation. In other words, it is to stick to the topic throughout the conversation.
5. Topic Shifting - is shifting the topic when you want to avoid the conversation or topic, or you want to spice up a little bit to make the next parts of the topic more interesting.
6. Repair - a person requests clarification
7. Termination - is to end the conversation
Is this correct?
well-said. thanks

Hi ma'am. When the conversation is about to go into an argument what strategy should I use?
what situation specifically?
Great lecture
Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰🇵🇰
thanks for watching. Happy learning!
Hello ma'am. If you don't mind me asking, do you know any three scenes from a movie or a TV show where various
communicative strategies were employed in one conversation?
not a movie lover though.
but u can find many.
in america's got talent, u can find scenes where judges ask questions, how a contestant reacts to random questions
Arigatō, I enjoyed the quiz 😆
Thanks
Thank you
Hi ma'am, how can a sudden change of communicative strategy affect the quality of interaction, the speaker audience relationship, the roles and responsibilities of the speaker, the message and the delivery?
i think i have answred thid question. if not in the comment below, could be on my next video.thanks
Thank u ma'am for this video❤️
My pleasure 😊
ma’am what kind of app did you use to edit this video Po?
i dont use one only. inshot..but i cant crop. canva for text and vivavideo. but im still finding better options.thanks
Hi ma’am thank u for this topic. But ma’am can I ask you a question regarding the do’s and don’ts in communication according to communication strategies?
u try to watch the communication shift. after watching all the viewpoints in communication, you can later create the do's and donts in communication.
Hello ma'am, what communicative strategy is used in a job interview?
depends upon the situation..possible turn-taking (the Q and A)
if you say "by the way, i'm sorry about what happened yesterday", is it a repair or topic shifting?
In my own analysis, the expression 'by the way" implies topic shifting but the whole context of the sentence is repair. I think the main purpose of the speaker is to ask sorry.
Maam you always saving me on your lessons! can i know which school you work at?
Im teaching at Panabo National Highschool -Panabo city, Davao De Norte. thanks for watching
Maam thank you po kasi naintindihan ko po discussion nyo ilang araw ko na po toh pinoproblema eh

Thank you maam!❤️
You're welcome 😊
Ma'am, what if it says "Therefore I conclude that honesty is the best policy?"
probably this situation is in the.middle of discussing.
Can you do all about "ARGUMENTS" in ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL PURPOSES
im almost to end oral comm topics..and EAPP topics are my next target.thanks for the suggestion.
hello maam what do you think is the suited communicative strategy to use in a formal conversation?
Certainly.
Bye the way this video helps me a lot 💓💖
Im glad it has helped you.
Thankyou very much mam
I use Topic Shifting a lot when i want to get out of trouble. I rarely use Restriction one idk why.
Thanks ma'am clear pronounciation ❤️❤️❤️
thanks for watching
pronunciation*
This video help me a lot thank you for you po ma'am 🤗❤️
thanks for watching
How about " One of the essential lessons I gained from the discussion is the importance of sports and wellness to a healthy lifestyle"?
if this is in the middle of the discussion, so it is topic control.
Ty
Teacher, how about, "This might not be a good venue for such a discussion because the employee concerned is not present in our meeting"? Is it Topic Control, ma'am?
thats possible. ya
Thank you ma'am
Puro ako reklamo dati na diko naiintindahan oral namen. Buti nalang nakita ko toooo thank you maam!❤️❤️
I'm glad it has helped you. thanks for watching
Good day, Ma'am! May we know the person who developed these 7 types? I have read different versions of definitions but it is very important to know who developed these too. This question is purposely for my research paper. Hoping for a response. Thank you so much, Ma'am!
"One of the essential lessons I gained from the discussion is the importance of sports and wellness to a healthy lifestyle.”
Is it topic control or termination ma'am?
topic control. probably the situation is reporting a topic.
but possibiliy is termination as he/she is on the ending part. but i cant see other expressions/words to determine that it is termination
Hi ma'am. May I ask what type of communicative strategy is applied in this statement?
Statement: "You said that you like milk chocolates, but you also stated that dark
chocolates are based from a single ingredient called cacao."
Thanks!
this is hard to identify actually unless if there are dialogues.
but in my own opinion, topic shifting
Is it repair if the sentence is "im sorry but i havent finish it yet. But i can finish it later since im not buisy"??
Perhaps. But probably the person is in the middle of discussing.
Ma'am can I ask about why communicative strategies are important?
in a practical sense, this will avoid miscommunication..we become effective speakers if you know strategies
Maam, does repair strategy address physical and physiological issues that affects communication?
yes and all other issues. It's one way to solve whatever communication breakdown
thank you
During the group discussion, the leader asks everyone to brainstorm about the
possible topics for the group research. What communicative strategy is
employed? Is it turn-taking or topic-control, mam? thank u!
topic control
thank you mam
thanks for watching.
7:41 this had me shookt, like Adrianne is my real name. 😂 Akala ko talaga alam mopo yung name ko or it's just a coincidence. 😂 Hahaha btw thank you ma'am. ❤️😊
must be you..lol.thanks for watching.
"Go on with your ideas, I'll let you finish first before I say something"
Is it topic taking or topic control ma'am? Thank you for answering
turn takin
@@TeachinglearningEnglish thank you so much!
Ma'am can I ask? How do communicative strategies help you live un every situation comfortably?
ull become an effective communicator. The messages gets across. knowing the strategies help u overcome barriers of commucation.
@@TeachinglearningEnglish ohhh. Thank you ma'am now it's more clear to me. God Bless you po
Maam is asking a question that can be answered by yes/no can be considered as restriction?
yes
i like how this exact question is an example of restriction as well ahahahaha
@@evan.846 oh 👁👄👁
@@evan.846 oh 👀
Thank you maam
Thank you too
Thankyou ma'am!💖How about this one "sorry,I did not hear it right. Did you mean, 'principle'?is this repair ma'am?
yes..
hai ma'am May I asked you whats is the difference between the communication strategies and communicative strategy?
same. just the singular and plural difference.
Thank you so much for this video ma'am. This really help me a lot in answering the questions my teacher asked me. But I want to ask someting. Is the statement "in your class, you might be asked by your teachers to brainstorm on peer pressure" a restriction or turn taking? Also, is a statement topic control if "in addition to what you said" is used?
topic control-- brainstorming on topic
turn taking- in addition to...
@@TeachinglearningEnglish Thank you ma'am! How about the statement "can we all listen to the one who talk in front of us", is it turn taking? Ma'am may I know what's the difference between restriction and topic control? I'm kind of confused hahaha
topic control is for assigned topics esp for discussion.
restriction is applicable for a priest preaching...you are restricted to talk
or in online class, u cant talk. only ur teacher talks.
@@TeachinglearningEnglish thank you so much ma'am
Teacher, how about "The table is now open for nomination for the position of Chair Person."? Nomination or Turn-Taking?
possible nomination because thats ur main agendum
Thank you teacher! How about, "I'd like to appeal to the panellists to avoid incendiary remarks, please." Repair, right? 😊
could be control..no repair yet happening
Thank you po☺
Thank you too
Hello ma'am. How about this...
"You said you like milk chocolates, but you also stated that dark chocolates are based from a single ingredient called cacao?"
Thanks in advance!
asking the person to defend his/her opinion..clarifying
so may be turn taking
@@TeachinglearningEnglish Thank you!
Salamat po nalilito po kase ako sa nominantion, restriction at topicshifting.Thank you pooo!!!!!!!!
Nomination**
Im glad it has helped you.thanks
Hi Ma'am, I'm confused.. What's the difference between restriction and topic control??
did u watch the video? i explained it. I have a short quiz too.
Thank you so much po
Hi ma'am, May I ask a question? Is making humor or funny jokes is in topic shifting? Thank you ma'am 💟
depends upon the conversation. if is the way of shifting the topic, then it is possible
@@TeachinglearningEnglish Thank you po ma'am 💜
Thanks po teacher.
You're welcome 😊
Hi ma'am. How about this one po " the tuition increase has already been imposed. What can student do to let the school administration know that the student do not agree, that the students will not accept this unilateral move?"
what is your question?
Hello ma'am! I have a question po. In the quiz at the end of this video, the item number 9, isn't it fit also po to be a Nomination?
while we oftengreet every time we speak or report but it is not more of nomination. thanks
@@TeachinglearningEnglish Okay po ma'am. Thank you po!
Is that kind of pressure?
Is that sentence an example of restrictions...?
Possible turn taking.
thankyou ma'am how about "Have you heard the news about the new Covid strain?"
nomination
What if its "Everything you say must be all based on facts, not mere opinions" maam?
hmm..possible topic control
What’s the difference between topic control and restriction?
topic control- u only talk the specific topic assigned to u. restriction is when u are constained to talk. u wait for the time to talk
@@TeachinglearningEnglish is restriction about waiting for the time to talk? or is the listener forced to respond?
Teacher, what if I say "Best regards to your parents! See you around".
termination
Hahaha, nasa module to ah? Number 1 pa😆
Nasa module ko din, thank you so much po ngayon hindi nako mazezero.
@@howtofigurethingsoutonmyown sana ol may 1 point hahahah
@@OptimusPrime-mh7xm oo nga eh hahaha
Ma'am, what if "I'm sorry, I'm not comfortable talking about that matter".
although i dont know the situation, but it may be topic shifting.
👍👍👍
thank you po :]
How about ma'am," MAKE SURE YOU WILL WRITE ONLY ABOUT THE TOPIC ASSIGNED TO YOU."?
If I say " Excuse me? I think we should speak one at a time, so we can clearly understand what we want to say about the issue"
Is that repair po?
turn taking
maam how about , "Hey Jane , John , there is a musical concert in the park . You want to go see the band and play? please notice thankyou
Nomination..
Hello ma'am. Just a question, can asking an interview to a stranger be an example of nomination?
it depends if thats ur first way of greeting the strangee, it can be possible
@@TeachinglearningEnglish thank you ma'am!
