Just think about it, we are going to have Matt Shaw and PCA on the field at the same time for years to come!!! I am very excited as a Cubs fan. Who is is just as excited?
If Hoyer doesn't get his way. With our luck, they'll both be included in a trade for someone who was good 10 years ago and costs 30x more than the 2 combined
I've got one more I can't wait to get the call. I went to a South Bend Cubs game and sat in the perfect spot behind Homeplate where a sportsblog guy normally sat. It was Brandon Birdsell on the mound😤. That ball comes out short armed by his ear without a big stride and that ball JUMPS on these poor hitters😂. Just about the time they can catch up with the 🔥 he throws a slider on the outside corner and the at bat was over👉. I want to see this guy at Wrigley!!
I hope he has a very successful season in 2025. I don't know who the team will have to move to make room for him yet, but Matt Shaw looks like one of those players the Cubs should want to keep for the next 15-20 years if he is as good as we think he can be.
@gregmatyas4272 Maybe. But because Nico can play SS as well, he could move into a super utility role. He is fast enough to back up CF and might also be capable of 1B. I just am speculating right now, but I wonder if he would be valuable in such a role. Like a Ben Zobrist type of role. Primarily 2B but with the ability to move into other positions to give guys a day off here and there. If he can do that, it makes him very valuable to the Cubs.
Hopefully he doesn't. That would be tragic. I would rather be a 75-85 win team this season and have Owen Caissie and Matt Shaw long term, than let them go and get maybe one or two decent seasons of a guy who turns around and leaves as a free agent anyways because it makes us an 82-88 win team. It would be a mistake to let them go. The other two I feel are untouchable, Ballestaros and Horton. After that, I am okay with trading from the farm system to get better. Having a long term core of PCA, Caissie, Ballestaros, Shaw, Brown and Horton, I just think makes a ton of sense. Not saying they will all be with the team for the next 15-20 years, but if all of them end up good enough to last a decade or longer with the team, that is a good thing. Hopefully at least 1 or 2 of them make it their entire career with the Cubs. Become franchise icons in the mold of Ernie Banks. We just have to hope that it is important to the Ricketts family, Jed Hoyer and the players themselves to be career Cubs if at all possible.
Relax guys. Hoyer isn’t touching Shaw, PCA, Cassie or Horton….and MAYBE Cam Smith unless the right deal comes along. The rest, have at em if you ask me.
hyping up prospects before they ever do anything at the biggest level is dumb as hell. children and young adults/teenagers dont deserve professional ball hype. people arent superstars entering leagues theyve never played in
@@nomercyinc6783 You have a fair point. We can still be excited to see them at this level. I think most of us are just excited. It isn't so much about hype. For some it is, I am sure of that. Many of us haven't had much exposure to these prospects. Have only seen a few games, maybe a highlight reel, but not a lot more. The fans who have been lucky enough to see them on TV in their local markets, to attend games, they know more about them than many of us do. When you add in all of the "experts" who do hype them up, it is hard not to be excited to see them and what they can do at this level.
@@WolfsDEit’s not worth the pressure that is forced upon them. All it is doing in reality is setting a higher bar and expectation than what was previously there.
@@WolfsDESeen Shaw play plenty down at Iowa and he absolutely looks the part of a very good player that has the potential to be a star type player! Kid is really good!

Slow down. One game at a time.
🤞🏻😄

And Michael Bush
I think we will see a lot of Matt Shaw very soon, kids a beast.
Matt Shaw, Owen Caissie, PCA the Cubs have some studs in their future

Simple….Nico

@ my biggest issue with that would be Nico’s $$$$, awful lot of money for a great defender who’s basically a slap hitter with zero power.
Do not trade that man.
have him play 100+ games this year. he’s ready
go cubs go
Cam Smith will definitely be in the conversation! This kid is the real motherfuckin deal!
Looking forward to that kid too
He's gonna be a star. Will check this comment in the next 5 years.
Can’t wait!

The future
Everyone wants us to trade for a star, we just need to make space for the stars we already have
He's A Shawzy
Son, you have been drafted by the Cubs. " Well atleast it wasn't the Pirates."😂
Those tree trunk legs - he should be on the Blackhawks.
As a long time Cubs fan, I'm more excited about Shaw than any other prospect we have.

Shaw Caissie Alcantara Smith to me are all off limits
Chip
Yeah with hoyer around trading him or pca, is always a possibility, hoyer would mess up a wet dream
