Love your course reviews. Got the Visual Storytelling course from Johnny and Nathaniel since watching your review (LOVED IT). Thanks for doing these reviews
Hey man! Glad you're enjoying them. Yeah I learned so much from that course. Dude I just checked out your channel, amazing videos - looking fwd to seeing more
Just some feedback on PTYA. Partly based on your review, I took the accelerator format ($5000/year) and followed it for a year. I am disappointed. Community was low quality, most people disappear after a month and only a few stay for a year from the hundred people. There was only one meetup, one had to fly to the US, but it was open to anybody who took any course. Ali was never present, you can get 5 minutes from him in a monthly QA, where you compete with another 100 people on the call, he even says his focus is on travelling and "finding himself". The "teachers" are part-time junior gig workers/past students, who are nice, but can only help with simple questions. I don't think it is worth the money.
Is video review built into the course, where you submit your videos over the course of the year, and receive quality/useful feedback from course mentors?
Thanks Nicole, it means a lot coming from you. Likewise xp! I've learned so much from you and seriously get inspired by how much you've been able to help your audience and grow
This is a great review of the course! I think you did a really good job covering the pros and cons! You're doing such a huge service to the creator community reviewing all of these courses! Thanks Peter!
You pretty well summarised the course and you earned my subscription… I am watching this video 11 months after you made this… if you haven’t done already, you can start adding “making RUclips videos as part of your content… and you earned my subscription! thanks
Hi, I'm really glad he found this video to be helpful. PTYA is an awesome course and I highly recommend it it helped me so much. What kind of channel are you thinking of making?
Haha I'm so glad you were down to be in the vlog and enjoyed the vid! I thought about starting or ending the video with your soundbites - so funny, and also very real.
Thank you so much for sharing peter, this is really useful. You were so comprehensive in the video and it was inspiring to hear you share your thoughts and journey! 🎉
Hey Peter thank you so much for your detailed review! I am just starting to think another what I want to do and RUclips was on the cards but i have zero experience. Found Ali’s course and was mulling over it as it is expensive for me. Your review definitely helped let me know I should definitely take his Skillshare one first, and see how I go from there since I have not even made 1 video for RUclips. Thanks again Peter, and my best wishes to you and your channel
Yes definitely don't get the big course if you haven't made a video yet. Nice yeah taking the free skillshare course sounds like an awesome move. Hopefully after you make a few videos you'll have a better idea of what you want to explore. Hf!
I've just been on the PTYA site and it seems they have take away completely the cohort aspect to it which was one of the best aspects of it to me. Any alternatives which do offer cohorts and community based learning? bonus points is focussed on entertainment or has in-person meet-ups?
Hi Belinda, yeah I'm making a go at it. Scary at times, but very rewarding. Nice. If you're serious about building a content business, PTYA is definitely the best I've taken. If you have any qs, lmk!
“ maybe it I give RUclipsrs thousands and thousands more dollars ( making them rich) I can become a famous RUclipsrs too! ( so I can sell a course to everyone to siphon fools money)” - everybody I’m 30 seconds in, and even though I like to make fun of it, it’s too much. Every second is some kind of list, countdown, bait for view time Awful awful awful
Before going into this video, I had never heard of PTYA but I found your insights interesting. Regarding what you learned, what were some mistakes that you were making prior to the course and how have you now fixed or remedied those mistakes? I find social media growth strategies very interesting thing; I've tried to grow an account on Instagram but after 2 months I saw no engagement with the content. When trying to figure out why there was no engagement, I looked around online and this common advice of "providing value to your audience by making high-quality content" kept popping up. For you personally for your channel, what would you define as a BAD video and how would you define a video that is of high-quality. Apologies if my question is unclear - I'm not entirely sure on how to word it. Also, how would you know if your content provides value - for example let's say you are a channel that focuses on making comedy sketches/skits - The way these channels provide value is that they make people laugh in return for a view or like or a subscription - it would be incredibly difficult for the comedy channel to know if their content provides value - they would have to hope/know if people find their content funny. Lastly, have you made a video on your camera settings - I remember seeing a video of your review of a Sony camera but damn your quality is so crisp

So it's like a scam, just to grab money
