Yes the Jtd is bulletproof, but alternator bearing is common issue on every model, dmf and clutch are easy to go on the jtd because it pulls really well and they are usually driven by young people which dont know how to drive, other things are on point very good review
Thank you, really helped me a lot as a first Alfa owner. As much bad things they say about it, as much i like this car. Precise, comfy, sporty and looks nice.
I gave my Alfa 1.6 147 a second chance. Previous owner wanted to drive till it stopped working. But she just didn't planned to go down that easily so he just sold her. After that i bought her and after some part replacements and other maintenance i have a nice beefy beauty in return. I hope driving it for many more years.
Common issues: Beware of the timing belt, oil consumption, electric windows driver command. Suspension silent blocks (old mattress sound) and I think that's it. 147 1.6 TS daily driver.
Very nice video. But I do have some questions. When do you recommend to change the oil and oil filter? My Alfa 147 105hp has done 143.000 km the clutch however is a little bit on the high side.I dont have issues when I test the clutch and put my car in 5th gear at 70km/h and go full on the throttle. How many km is it normal to replace the clutch? Is it normal that the clutch is a little bit higher?
Thanks, I replace oil on all of my cars regardless of the make every 5-6000km. When it comes to clutch, that heavily depends on the driving. My Alfa is a bit higher in kms than yours and there is no sign of clutch going bad...
@@arcgarage Thanks. I think it will be fine I will save some money to replace the clutch next year. Which tyres do you recommend for 215/45 R 17 for a 147? I have Pirelli P7 Cinturato now and they are pretty comfortable and they have nice grip but I was wondering what you recommend:)
@@arcgarage it looks great, I've had two 2002 1.6 Lusso, a 2007 Sport TS 1.6 and a 2006 2.0 Lusso, now got a 1998 146 1.8 t spark. Dunno why Alfa never put the 1.8 in the 147 it's as quick as the 2.0 and has same mpg as 1.6... I love the T Spark engine they're very dependable and sound great.
Hello, it's a late comment since you posted this video but hope you can help. I had problems with my driver's side window switch (windows would only work now and again), so bought a new one but now both windows at the front don't work at all. When I press the button I can hear a tick, so the connection seems ok. I know it needs a proxy alignment but when I get that done will the windows work after that? Any help would be appreciated!
Actual issue what caused the stutter was that previous owner had some reason ripped those sound insulating, or what ever they do there, fabric panels so they covered the intake pipe completely xD, I didn't even know that pipe was there under the fabric in that place, until one friend just happened to look at it and wondered why they are loose anyway. So it wasn't the MAF sensor this time.
Hm, I wouldn't, there is no reason that engine should have a blown head gasket unless it wasn't taken care of properly. In that case you will run into additional problems
I own one 1.6 for 11 years now, this video is 100% accurate!!
Love my 147 2.0 from 2006 still strong alfa 😚😎💪

Hi, I have the exact same model, the only issue that bothers me is the sloppy gear stick. How can you fix that?
I enjoy every review you do…. You are an Alfa nut like me… keep posting a big 👍🏼 from me keep your vids coming
Thank you very much for support, means a lot...
Thank you for this video and your advices.

Put 10w60 in it better!
Change oil on time and put 10W60 race oil better for the Twinspark put it in mine 😉👍.

Thank you for the heads up, any recommendations for the automatic version on what to look out for etc
It has to be immaculate, otherwise don't buy it. If it hasn't been taken care of, you'll have issues with it definitely...
Good English majstore.
Hvala

My headlights get some mist in them! Do u have a quick tip for fixing that?
Quick, not really, you have to reseal them

@@thebarront9889 That's a nice lineup. I agree, twin spark engines are great, you just have to maintain them properly...
No, they require way too many maintenance compared to any regular car (brand).
@@BladePocoknot really and they drive way better than all the other cars in their class lol

Make sure that the switch has the same part number, also you have to check to see if the motor and mechanism are ok...
thanks!!
Do you have any idea what could be wrong, when you accelerate and when it is about 4000rpm it stutters badly? I have the 2004 1,6TS 88Kw/120Hp version
MAF sensor, but make sure you check it first
@@arcgarage Thanks, I have to check it out tomorrow, and luckily you have nice video about that too. Greetings from Finland

Hello is it dangerous to drive if the variator is noisey
Hi, you can drive it like that for some time, but it is always smarter to fix it
Shall I buy a 1.6 twin spark with 160.000kms, blown head gasket for 400-500€? Is it a bad idea?
