Well they want to keep up the optimism for themselves and the British listeners. It does get a bit annoying and a bit too easy to spot. But it's not over yet, with some luck we get more that seven races.
20 minutes of racing. First race they were separated by less than a minute. Second race is less than 30 seconds difference. Close enough to be interesting, and a small mistake or wind shift could easily make a difference either way. Commentator hyperbole is standard for sport these days.
What’s the criteria for the race committee choosing the number of legs? The first race was 6 and the 2nd race was 8 in virtually the same wind range. I understand they used 8 legs in much stronger wind particularly in the LV Cup and I understand that as the boats are going faster. But in the 2nd race the wind was tapering off and they kept shortening the course yet kept the legs at 8. I wonder why? 🤔
@westboundbadger All comes down to reliability in the end. My Morris Marina the whole gear stick shift came out in my hand. I would call Luna Rossa a Alpha Romeo they always had issues.
Really nice racing ETNZ!! I did not expect 2-0 on Day 1…! But IB will return fire, hard, today. And we know from hard won experience, anything can happen, and that it’s very early days. May the best team win!
