Even the least privileged of us live with luxuries that our forefathers could only have dreamed of. We are all in for a wake up call. Practicing self control and mental toughness is really the best form of prepping.

Learn to feed yourselves without the grocery store. I just got off working my 8 hours at the factory and now I am turning 3 pigs that died last night by a sharp object across their jugular into pan sausage and pork chops with a meat saw and sausage grinder I picked up a few weeks ago. Prepping is no accident. It requires planning AND Actions. I pray God is merciful and Blesses those who prepare and Believe. I plan to help my brothers and sisters as required. I have been truly blessed because the Greatest Blessing is our ability to bless others. Love you all.

This is going to be a situation you all need each other and can all pull together. Make friends with all your neighbours suss them all out before it all comes down. I give free chicken eggs to them to say hi would you like some eggs Ive got too many . Get to know them now so you can build good friendships and know the ones you can and can't trust. Be discerning and don't divulge much . Keep your boundaries. This works well , you'd be wonderfully surprised to see how people react to this and how generous they are in return. We need to rebuild community, it's so lacking these days. Neighbours help each other out ,Ive got them now offering to help me if I want help it's so good.

Wiser words were never spoken. I’m 49 this year & between the time I spend at work & commuting to & from work, my day is well used up. Besides doing domestics like laundry, cooking & basic cleaning, I’m done with the rest of the nonsense. Oh, I’m quite capable of building a home if I want to or restoring a classic car… but why? All of these projects (refurbishing this, fixing or maintaining that), all of these toys (boats, ATVs, motorcycles, etc.) and all of the maintenance & money required the keep them, it’s all utter nonsense. In the end, it’s all just stuff. KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. Now, I’m not suggesting that complete self-sufficiency wouldn’t be a full time job in itself but, in my humble opinion, it would be way more honorable than the way we race around trying to figure out where the money is going to come from to purchase & maintain all this junk that none of us truly “needs.”

Lol, seriously, grew up on a ranch. Doing without in some ways is just part of life. I couldn't care less if I never went to a fast good joint. The other part of my self-confidence, I live inTexas. Our stubborn streak hasn't yet allowed us to bow our necks to this Socialist crap. A washer is a 5 gallon bucket and a potato masher for an agitator. Rinse cycle is right after that, same thing. Drying, God does that, and if all else fails, I've put on damp clothes before and let time dry 'em out. Entertainment is not a need, it's a want. And even at that, every day you learn something, that keeps the mind engaged. I admit I need to spend less time deflecting from reality and instead, engaging it head on. I'm actually happier when I get shit done that needs doing. Re-engage with your inner circle. It doesn't take much, but it does require you actually get it done. I just gave a container of Swiss Miss hot chocolate powder to the Post Office lady behind the counter and you'd have thought I'd saved her life. Small things, still count.

I TOTALLY agree. I've been doing this program for years; being less dependent on luxuries (called necessities in first world countries). I don't use toilet paper, paper towels, television. . . and the list goes on and on. I also keep my heat at 45 degrees in the Winter and don't use the AC in the Summer. I find that it's NOT that hard. When I get cold, I just put on more clothes, etc. I DON'T need assistance, well not any more than anyone else does; I'm fine. Like other Americans, I still live in luxury: hot and cold running water, internet, a comfortable home, etc. I'm still NOT even close to living like a pioneer, however, I know a lot of people would think that this is a drastic, desperate lifestyle. However, I've gotten used to it and I'm comfortable. I haven't even got to the point where I feel like I'm suffering yet. I'm still a wimp, lol.

Even then I was a bit rusty, but could still read it even upside down. Well, I did figure out when she went to lunch which was at a different time from the boss who always gave me a "come on in and we can talk" response.

Travis, I enjoy your content very much and appreciate you sharing information. To your point here, For the last 18 months or so I have been voluntarily rationing my stocked items. I’ve learned to live with less. I discovered that a nice, filling breakfast will sustain me very well all day and only a light supper is needed. I discovered that less dish soap and less laundry soap still will get the job done. I discovered that I simply don’t need to run to the store as much as I used to. Very simply - I’ve embraced the “Use it up, wear it out. Make it do or do without” lifestyle and since I did this of my own choosing I don’t feel lacking. I’m still preparing and stocking but my stocked items go so much further now.

Your right everything is truly provided for you if you know how to use it I live in a 20×12 shed barn 24 if you count the loft and porch. My brother-in-law allowed me to pull on his property in exchange for yardwork and other help. No running water other than gravity feed I harvest rain water for this and only use the well in the dryer season Berkey water filters in my tractor supply 5 gallon bucket system for drinking a biosand water filter for everything else I could probably get by with the sand filter if I boiled and maybe without I boil anyway to be safe. Last year I skirted and insulated the crawlspace leaving a small 2 foot opening under the porch on the opposite side cut a vent hole in the floor on the opposite side of the floor vent I cut a ceiling vent to draw the heat into the small attic and back outside it works like a geo tube it doesn't get as cool as an air conditioner but livable here in Oklahoma in the winter I use a small batch box mass heater for heat this year so far it's working great I use very little propane for cooking I've been using a rocket stove made of clay when it's not too cold along with a sun oven and thermal cooker next year I'm thinking of enclosing a area connected to the house maybe another cordwood structure like I did for the batch box mass heater to cut down on cost I have two 100 watt solar panels for lights and a small 12 volt TV and 12 volt fans for summer next year I'm planning on expanding my three sisters garden into other companion garden but I'll have to do some research on that hunting and fishing for the rest my truck broke down at the beginning of the C along with my boss closing his company with no warning after working for him 17 year's so I've been making do for the last few years it is doable Im alone and have no children so I don't know if a family could live this way but I'm very happy and content and so is my dog if we need anything I'll sell or trade one or two of my carvings a talent the good lord gave me

I remember teaching Morse to some of the junior soldiers when we were in the field. We don't let Joes play with comms willy nilly, so I taught them with a signal mirror. That night they got out flash lights and shared it with the other Joes that had been on a different task that day. It was hilarious! Every time someone tried it for the first time, they'd blind the person who was supposed to get the message. I knew they were still at it hours later when I heard them screaming "aim at my chest you idiot!"

Question I always ask.. can I do without this? and if not how can I make, produce, grow it? if I cannot do that it is a luxury and while it is nice to have I can live without it. Anyway I made sure I put in solar, a well, pump and rainwater harvesting as primary setup for the homestead, my glasshouse and raised bed gardens were the next big focus.. so can I live off the grid? Yes I can as we tested that out for a few months, that was good to learn where things were not really working and what areas we needed to learn and do better. If you can do a test run do it, you cannot learn to grow your own food in a crisis, you must learn and make the mistakes before that time comes. As the video points out it is impossible to store forever so you must become a producer of that which you consume.. hell I finally got my vinegar production working right, have lots of apples, never did much with them so cider is a great idea and well apple cider vinegar is a must have.. things like that are a big help to you and your community.. anyway I am ranting, you all stay safe out there now you hear.
