I have seen this movie in 2010. Then I watched all the seasons of Jessica Jones. It never clicked that these two were in this movie together. That is awesome.
Something I really like about this movie is how it shows the friendships of all four of them so equally. With kirk being the lead character it would be easy to make him the head of that friend group. But they show scenes like this of Jack hanging out with Devon. Then there's the scene of Stainer leaving to get food with Jack. Then you have scenes of Kirk walking to the party with Devon and Devon shaving Kirk's balls. But then Kirk takes Stainer to the hockey game. Seems like a very strong and supportive friend group, which really adds to the movie.
I hadn't really thought about like that. What I noticed the most about it was that EVERYONE in it was funny, which shows the movie has a good director, but what you pointed out was a good point, too.
This movie is one of my favorites. My wife complains I watch it WAY too often, but she usually ends up watching with me. Why? Because, in too many ways, this movie tells the story of the beginning of our over 35 years (I can't be more precise or she'll kill me) together, so far... Way, way too many ways.
Honestly, the first time I met my girl, I was SO sure she'd never go for a guy like me. She seemed so ambitious, smart, determined, and extremely kind that it was safe for me to assume that she would only settle for a guy with the same qualities. A couple drinks gave me the rationing I needed to give it a shot and one thing led to another and now here we are happily engaged. It was only recently when I opened up about that encounter did she tell me that she felt the exact same way about me. Sometimes, it's the people we love that bring out the things we didn't know about ourselves, the things that our insecurities bury deep down and only come up when we say "to hell with them" or find someone that helps us reel in that heavy anchor. Love this movie.
Extremely funny scene. The cute brunette in the background really added to the scene with her faces. And the guy explaining, that is some great acting. Hilarious!
Alice Eve is a hugely under-rated talented actress, with an excellent sense of humour... That and in this movie she gets to play an embarrassing scene with both her actual parents in it goes to prove it!
