Both fighters fell to their knees, huffing and grasping in pain. Their strength was fading, and the blood loss made the world spin in a dizzying fashion. "Not... yet..." Jeanne gasped. She clutched her rapier, steeling herself for one final thrust. "I will not... let you outdo me..." Roselia groaned. She summoned enough strength for her trembling hands to grasp her scythe. Both women knew that this was their last ditch effort, and the one who struck first would be the victor. Their breathing was now in sync, blood and sweat dripping from their jaw. With a final exhale, Roselia and Jeanne burst forward, and the ensuing shockwave flourished the petals in their trail. What followed was the collapse of two of the greatest fighters the province had ever conceived. As the petals fluttered in the wind, the once beautiful rose bed trickled a stream of viscous burgundy. Jeanne felt the gentle breeze once more, brushing against her golden locks. Roselia intertwined the delicate petals in her fingertips, and sunk into the warm embrace of the earth. The land fell silent, once more.
