He clearly values Mitsuko as a companion to some degree, and I think it is sweet that she was there for him at the end.

It’s fitting that the music for something like that is a bit happy. Because it’s a happy moment for him despite what’s happening to him

Death of the whole secondary cast in GX mattered a lot even after they were brought back, due to the trauma it caused the protagonist, so let's not say things like that before we confirm it. Plus a character being brought back does not ruin the tragic circumstances of their death, like with the whole Zexal cast.
Don't be so negative, this series has surpassed expectations enough to be given the benefit of the doubt. Regardless of the outcome, they won't just make everything so far worthless. People have been assuming they're smarter than the writers since Sevens, only to be bamboozled time and time again. Most people expected the Velgearians to be revived by the end of Season 2 and invalidate this entire arc, only for the show to pull the rug out from everyone calling it predictable. And as people said, revived or not, it doesn't mean that their deaths will lack consequence.

Don't forget he wrote the basic story for Dark Signers arc of 5Ds, proving he was fine with Yugioh being more than just an episodic high school series like it started off as, so I don't think Vrains is that far from his vision. And even the things he didn't write he signed off on. On the other hand saying this absolutely devastating scene isn't worthy of being called Yu-Gi-Oh somehow is absolute insanity. While Go Rush is usually more nonsensical and comedic than even Sevens was before it, this here is so dark that only the genocide of Bakura's tribe even compares from the original manga. To me dying with a smile on your face is darker than setting a criminal on fire or being forced to fist fight a serial killer (who was also set on fire).
The OG DM is overrated asf. Midway through the series they barely touch Jaden/Judai original friends or even sending them away. 5ds is great but not perfect. Zexal starts meh then become really good. Arc V starts pretty to really good to garbage. Vrains you have to care about the character for quite awhile to keep watching if not then you would lose interest before them getting into the interesting part
