How sick is Tory's Fishroom? Amazing eh? I couldn't believe both how many tank AND how easy it was for him to maintain them. His Automatic waterchanges were slick. He told me that several of the fish have had nothing done to their water in 5- yes FIVE years. How crazy is that? I love how deep into breeding he is as well. Not just one type of species- NOPE- Lots of different aquarium fish species.

I learn so much from these legends! In one hand, there are people expending tons of money on external computerized canister filters, bioballs, moving bed filters, advanced CO2 systems, UV lamps, all kinds of chemistry tests,... and then, you have this great man with a bucket full of sand and an air pump, not cleaning it for 10 years and breeding fishes without problem! Just because the most important thing is to change water as often as possible! So much to learn from them!

Reminds me of when I was younger and had aquariums all over the place. Now I just keep 3 and a 40 gallon nano reef, downsized from a 200 gallon.

It's been a while since I checked a video out but this dudes room or lair is insane!
I had so much fun the first time, I came to watch it again, 5:17 I too had the same issue with the water co and ammonia, it was the post RO DI stage that actually got rid of the ammonia, for me. 5:36 I think surface plants take up more nutrients cause they tend to get more air/co2 and light.
Wow this "overflow" system of his is awesome exactly how I need my damn overflow to be! Great video :)

For the pipe to work at 12:14, do you need to have it loop ALL they way to the bottom and below the tank? or can it only go down say half the tank since it highly unlikely that you'll empty the tank
What are the spawning mops, or how might they differ from a ball of moss? The silvers are also my favorite in his collection. He really should've had the glass cleaned before showing the place, but I love that jungle stream. That was fun, thanks for showing us.
What was the name of the live bearers at about 10:30 again? I've always loved the idea of an arowana, but I don't have the space for a large fish. I would like to research them a little more to see if they are right for me.

I seem to be having trouble keeping plants in the tank with my placo. He's like a good long and always tears up the plants w his fins. Any suggestions?
I hate watching these videos, as it make me want more tanks that I can't have. Well, actually I enjoy them, maybe jealous is a better word. Great to see you coming from my home town. If I still lived there, I would be begging these guys to let me in and look around.

Dustin, what does Tory mean by change the gravel bucket? Never heard of just changing a gravel bucket. I'm curious. I have a 30 gallon that I try to keep 25% water changes on and was curious if a gravel bucket would be a good fix for running a siphon. Maybe have Tory's contact?
What is the yarn like brown stuff he has in some of the tanks?
Nice! But I'd be interested to know the economics behind some of the elaborate set-ups you feature. What's his water bill like? Would that be considered a personal question if you asked these guys how much it costs them to run these rooms monthly or annually?
94110mission - Good question about the water bill. In California I'd probably be arrested for having a set up like this during a drought! But in most places there is no problem using water since it rains and snows all the damn time.
+94110mission where I live water is estimated as far as the size of your home, single family or multi family unit, not metered, which means your water bill stays the same.
Dustin, I have angelfish that eat my wisteria, and all other plants to spindles! What could I plant that they won't devour! ??

how many of these tanks that you've seen in all the fish rooms have individual filters? it seems like most are running off of central air filters.

Hmm, probably too late, but please tell me there's a how to guide on making that water overflow system? It looks like the bomb and really easy to set up properly.... I'm going to have to experiment if no one knows :)

Is Tory putting RO water in the tank or straight from the tap. I thought he said his tap water wasn't very good for keeping fish. Also if he is putting in tap water doesn't it have to be treated? Also water temp. Water from the tap is very cool. Doesn't it have to be the same temp as the tank?
Great video. I have always wondered about the auto water change system? Does it not end up ultimately filling a Tank with untreated water?

He uses an RO system, so I'm pretty sure that it takes out the chlorine or whatever they use to treat the water.
Yeah- So i wondered this too and asked him. He does RO so the water he uses is "treated" You can see the one shot of his closet where all the water is treated. However. I met another guy out there who doesn't treat the water as it only does like 10% so the chlorine is dissolved in the remaining 90%. Either way- its a PHAT setup

Dustin's Fish Tanks Have to check w/the local water supplier on their treatment methods. Chlorine will dissipate over time and 10% is okay. Chloramines however (used here in Norfolk, Va.) don't dissipate and remain toxic no matter how long it sits.

Hey great video :). But I have a question. I have three German blue rams and 2 of them are females and the other is well of course a male. But one of the two females is chasing the other female. The male is just a player and stays next to one from time to time. Why is the chasing occurring? Is it a shoe of dominance for the female to show that they are worthy of the male or no?.

Actually no fish- Keeping fish in the GH is kinda a pain- the temps swing a bit too much for the fish- plants can handle it, but fish you have to worry about with big water changes. That said- in last weeks video- I would have liked to have grabbed some emerald rainbow babies from Bob G ;)
