VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) open source EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools are software programs that aid in the design and creation of electronic circuits and systems. These tools are open source, meaning that they are freely accessible and modifiable by anyone.
Open-source EDA tools are becoming more popular as they allow for greater flexibility and customization in the design process, which can lead to faster and more efficient product development. They are also cost-effective, as users do not need to pay expensive license fees for proprietary software.
There are several VLSI open source EDA tools available, including SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis), Magic (Mask Layout and Generator for Integrated Circuits), and Qflow (An Integrated Circuit Design Flow).
SPICE is a simulation tool used to create and simulate circuit designs. It allows users to test circuits before they are physically constructed, saving time and money in the design process.
Magic is a layout tool used to create and edit integrated circuit designs. It offers a simple interface and is efficient in handling large designs.
Qflow is a complete integrated circuit design flow that includes synthesis, placement, and routing tools. It is a popular choice for smaller chip designs and university-level projects.

In code_shown component you have to clearly mention the path or else the simulation won’t work. In this video also the path mentioned at 36:00 is different from the one used at 43:12. He didn’t tell that he has changed the path and it caused me a lot of trial and errors to get where the problem is at…so be careful
Edit: In the next video this thing is corrected and also written in description.

Which one should I follow analog ic design by prof nagendra krishnapura(year 2018 videos) or by Prof. S. Aniruddhan(year 2013 videos)?
Both are same , if they haven’t recorded a new one , few classes are taken by aniruddhan only
can we do the same by LTspice also( LTspice then magic vlsi)? ( as this softwaare can work in windows)
Thank you. Spikes in the simulation are due to parasitic capacitance btw input and output.

At 29:08, the search function is at the bottom of the window. Retype the content of File/Search to find the wanted device.

Hello sir, i am facing 2 errors while installing make i.e.
1. It is telling me that module not found error named setuptools
2. No module named distutils.
Please tell me how to resolve these errors as i am new to linux and i am unable to understand how to resolve this

why we are not using LT-SPICE ? I think that will be quite easy to use. dont u think so?
Good question but , xschem is more close to professional eda environment , other automated tools like qflow or openroad use xschem internally, and also integrating it with sky130 pdk is also easy, so i choosed to start with this tool

When i ran the line './configure --enable-sky130-pdk', i got an error checking for magic... no. Configure error: you need 'magic' to generate the needed various cell views. Can you help me to fix the problem?
did you install magic before?...try typing "magic" into the terminal to confirm the successful installation
Sir at 38.47 , after executing ./autogen.sh --adms. I'm getting in terminal as "bash:cd/.autogen/:No such file.

If you are newbie here with EDA tools start with these tools, openRoad you can try after 1-2 months , yes hope for the best i might have future videos on those rtl2 gds tool like openRoad,qflow etc
