The dynamic of simultaneous hatred and tolerace between these two was always great to watch, perfect acting from both of them 👌🏼

Shame both characters were completely assassinated toward the end. They both turned to evil, pathetic shadows of their former selves.

Definitely, den and Pauline turned so sour towards their death. Pauline was turned into another lou beale clone that completely destroyed her character and den just because an utter knobhead. This was the last interaction den and Pauline had in their prime before den was "killed"

@@chris7921 very true mate, Lou loved her family even if she had to belt them up to keep ‘em straight, Pauline resented her family and everyone around her before she died, she wrote a letter apologising for her behaviour but of course in true eastenders fashion she died before anyone read the letter

I wondered why Pauline didn't interrupt Den's little tirade, but she was sitting back, knowing she had THE trump card: Sharon.

I love how Den was being so cocky and thinking he had got one over on Pauline with his tirade against her family but as soon as he was finished Pauline brought him right back into line with one simple sentence 😂
The mutual hatred these 2 had for each other was just insane.

If there was someone other than the Mitchells who truly stood out as Dirty Den's sworn enemy, it would be Pauline Fowler.
Never mind the times he crossed paths with Nick Cotton and James Willmott-Brown on occasions, not to mention his own top-dog competitor Phil Mitchell and even Dennis Rickman alongside gangsters such as Gregory Mantel and Andy Hunter.
Excluding all of that, Pauline is the one person whose feud with Dirty Den was well-developed in a battle of wits and insults between them. Pauline rightfully resented Dirty Den for getting her daughter Michelle pregnant and indirectly causing the breakup of her short-lived marriage with Michelle's first husband Lofty.
I mean even beforehand, Pauline and Dirty Den seemed to dislike each other. Dirty Den thought Pauline was too interfering, whereas Pauline was close friends with Dirty Den's long-suffering wife Angie and could see just how much he tainted her life through his adulterous and lothario nature. But it wasn't until Pauline's discovery that Dirty Den got her own daughter pregnant that their mutual distrust turned into a longstanding quarrel from start to finish.
