I'm with you. I love watching more older movies on VHS. I don't know about your collection - I just started watching your stuff - but I still have my VHS tapes from when I was a kid. I should copy you and create my own blockbuster closet.
I never got rid of my VHS tape movies from the 80s and 90s and I still scoop up VHS tapes now and then cheaply from thrift stores even though I have an excellent collection of DVDs, Blu-rays, and several 4Ks too. VHS movies actually look great even when I project them on my 120 inch pull-down screen. I remember watching my VHS of Disney's 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' projected on the 120 inch screen and with surround sound in my makeshift home theatre/media room in the basement and I could not get over how great VHS movies looked despite not having the resolution of DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K. They were perfectly sharp and crisp for my needs. Plus, there are some movies I have on VHS that I don't mind watching once a year or so and really don't want an upgrade because the VHS has served me well and the thrift store bargain price was right at the time. :)
Dude, great video, and right in my wheel-house right now as I am started collecting VHS tapes pretty hard a few months ago. Here are my most watched VHS movies: 1. In Search of the Wow Wow Wibble Woggle Wozzie Woodle Woo (if you know, you know). I rented this from a local video store EVERY weekend growing up. My mom used to beg us to pick something else lol. 2. Batman (my first VHS tape I ever owned. Got it for Christmas when I was five and I watched it so much. The diet coke commercial at the beginning is so good, and the looney tunes trying to sell you batman gear lol. 3. TMNT: I too know the opening Pizza Hut jingle by heart! ("Off in the distance, the games draggin on...") 4. Labyrinth (Still love it, as do my kids) 5. Willow (The most underrated fantasy movie of all time in my opinion). 6. Pee Wee's Big Adventure (even though Large Marge terrified me) 7. ET (everybody owned this when it came out) 8. A collection of the old Superman cartoons. We wore that out. 9. The Buttercream Gang (a classic family movie) 10. Speed (my first action movie I owned on VHS. Still can have fun with this one lol) Great video! Was checking all day to see if you had a new one. Thanks for all the great trips down memory lane :)
@@elibourgard8969 awesome list man! There’s strikes on the batter, some runners are on… I actually own that Buttercream Gang movie, but I haven’t ever watched it.
@@TheCassettePhase Buttercream gang is actually pretty good. I showed it to my kids and they really liked it. Has some good messages in it and lots of early 90s cheese and charm.
I saw ET twice in theater when I was 6 and when I was 14 a couple of friends of mine wanted to go see the TMNT movie, I've never watch the cartoon and didn't know there was a comic book. We were so blown away that we ended up going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, those were the first movies I saw more than one in theater.
Absolutely agree. 80s movies look better in lower res, ideally 720p, 1080p tops, they weren't filmed to be watched in 4k. So the VHS format is perfect for it.
Hey man, great video! I have alot of Disney movies on my top 10 most watched movies on VHS list. Return of the Jedi is also my favourite Star Wars movie because I'd seen reruns of the Ewoks cartoon on TV when I was four or five years old, so of the original Star Wars trilogy, it was the movie that felt most familiar to me when I first watched the series back in late 1995 or early 1996, when my dad got the 1995 VHS box set for either his birthday or Christmas in 1995. Also, yeah, 1990 was seven years before the Special Editions were released, so the original theatrical versions of all three movies were still being released on VHS and Laserdisc at the time.
@@TheCassettePhase Right? It makes sense because the Droids and Ewoks cartoons were my introduction to Star Wars when I was a kid, long before I ever saw any of the movies. But, you're right, there are just some movies that feel good to watch on VHS. Like they belong on that format and no other. For me a movie like the 1994 live action Flintstones movie is a VHS must watch for me, even though I also own it on DVD.

broken arrow, austin powers, bloodsport, terminator 1 & 2, swingers, halloween, from dusk til dawn, empire strikes back, tommy boy, planet of the apes 1968 & 2001, clifford, toy story, were my favorite VHS rentals....

I would watch that at my grandparents house with my aunt while we ate Totino's party pizza, when they were still round and a coke. There's only a couple of those I haven't seen yet. Very true. My first time watching Beverley Hills Cop was on VHS. I still to this day remember all the dropouts, bad picture quality, mono sound (we couldn't afford a stereo video recorder at the time.) Though I would never go back to a CRT. I hated those TV's. I love my 32 inch, 4k, wide screen TV.
