    Rosengård was built to take people out of the misery. There were quarters in Malmö that you can call real slum. Old houses that were about to fall down by themselves. In the 1960s and 70s they tried to fix that. Not sure the result was good. There is misery behind those walls. But on the outside Rosegård is beautiful.

    People just cannot understand it is not about how it looks or how the basic blocks are there. It is more about the safety or lack of that. Safety standard in Sweden is very different to some less developed countries. No one would survive in a mud hut and the Swedish government has a duty to house everyone... If you compare this area to the nice parts of Stockholm like Östermalm or similar you would see the difference. No reason to take Mick off if people feel unsafe there, the people who live there should think about why their area has so a bad name... Which gives a bad name to all of us who have immigrated...

      You have to understand the background to this. Sweden was a very peaceful country, virtually free of crime up until 2015 until a massive influx of refugees happened. A lot of young men, who left their families behind in war torn countries, who have been traumatized etc. living there among each other, they have no family to be accountable to so they can let loose and let out their inner animals. And this is how Sweden went from more or less free of crime to things like 12yo girl shot in front of burger joint in a drive-by, bombs, stabbings, grapes etc. It´s not necessarily that if you live in this area you will automatically be robbed but you will have shady neighbors, people that deal drugs and you might get caught up in gang warfare. Also it´s a different story at night than walking there at day.

So throughout history you've had Jewish Ghettos all over Europe and Black ghettos in the Americas. Low income ethnic swedes are not ghettoised. im from belfast, new lodge specifically, i moved to rosengård and found it so strange how afraid swedes were of that area, they had so much to say about a wee area that none of them had even visited. reminded me of new lodge in its reputation, and how many innaccurate assumptions existed about people who live there. in reality its such a calm and convenient area to live, and much like anywhere you are very unlikely to see anything kick off unless you yourself are involved.

      @@user-ti2wg8pv3i I’m from Finglas in Dublin. Take a look at Berryfield or Kippure Park in Finglas and you’ll see a real ghetto! Interesting that you moved to there, do you live close to Ramels Vag? Looking a google street view, it simply looks like a few blocks of quiet council flats perhaps, clean and organised. Also, have you be to Seved? I’ve heard that’s meant to be the worst in all of Sweden…what’s that area like?

    • @user-ti2wg8pv3i
      @user-ti2wg8pv3i Год назад

      @Thairish_92 I actually experienced Seved as being a really in demand area, atleast when it came to student housing. Seved is close to a huge hipster area, alot of resturaunts/bars that i frequent nearby:) its also right beside the music university and alot of nice parks, so a lot of students and families live there. (Student housing is the reason I chose Rosengård, even if we dont opt for the student flats alot of us will still move into nearby flats to be close to friends.). Have heard ramels väg has its incidents but live nearby and haven't had any trouble, I think it's just that it's a very long street with lots of flats surrounded by a huge park and a motorway, so that might contribute. Oddly there's more violent crime per capita in the "affluent" or central/nightlife focused areas of Stockholm like Norrmalm and Östermalm than in rosengård.
      No doubt that Ireland probably has some rougher areas in comparison too, I think most irish city centers would be a bit rough for swedes taste😅.

      It's important to remember that although crime has skyrocketed in Sweden (by Swedish standards) in the past 10-15 years it's from a VERY low level, so I would definitely argue that most U.S. big city inner-city areas are considerably more dangerous than anywhere in Sweden. Cities like Detroit, Memphis, Baltimore...There aren't cities in Europe, let alone Sweden, that really compare to them for violent crime. So it's important to keep everything in perspective

I have had more issues walking at night on norrmalm in Stockholm than in Rosengård (and the statistics back this up, there's more violent crime per capita in Central stockholm)
