    If u notice one of the most important rules when u do this job is when u position all the screws FIRST with your fingers to secure the screws then u can use any electrical machine. This guy knows what he is doing. He is not rushing himself to finish it up!.

    I just did the clutch on my 2008 Golf 1.9TDI. I had no idea just how heavy the gearbox is; the YT videos don't make that clear. I was able to get it off thanks to gravity, but getting it back in was impossible - I just didn't have the strength. I needed to pay a mobile mechanic to wrestle it back in.

    Spectacular video, very well filmed and executed. Congratulations. The only negative thing I find is that I would tighten the bolts of the clutch assembly, gearbox, etc. with their corresponding tightening torque. And something that can go unnoticed is that this LUK clutch is a SAC (self-adjusting) type and therefore must be adjusted with its specific tool either before assembly or during assembly (basically you have to adjust the outer springs of the pressure plate after of squeezing the diaphragm and then leaving it in its initial position). Also a great job. Thanks for sharing.
    Greetings from Spain.

      By reading your comment, I discovered the SAC system.
      Now I understand why you recommend to use a tool to compress the diaphragm before tighten the nuts.
      In the repair manual from Volkswagen, the recommendation is only to check that the SAC is well reset and to tighten the nuts in star.
      Also on RUclips you can find a video that explain how assemble the clutch without diaphragm compression, the method is to tighten the nut by 1/4 turn in star so that the SAC keep reset. Kevin do it this way.
      So I wonder if I missed something and if this tool is absolutely required to do it perfectly?
      If the tool is not absolutely required, how to check that SAC system is well in placed before and after tightening the nuts ?

    • @dunebasher1971
      @dunebasher1971 3 месяца назад

      New self-adjusting clutch pressure plates, like the one in the video, are supplied in the reset position and so are install-ready out of the box. You only need to reset them - using either the special tool or one of the various DIY methods - if you're removing and then reinstalling the same pressure plate. If you don't reset it, it will be impossible to bolt it to the flywheel as the bolts won't be long enough.

    If you had choice for clutch replacement on golf or Tiguan , would you raise the car on a lift or on “jack and stands “ ? I understand it can can actually be easier sometimes on jack & stands as you don’t need high jacks or receivers . Especially for heavy automatic transmission removals .
    I always wanted a lift but it’s probably not worth it for hobbyist like me .I spent my youth in fathers garage using jack and stands for everything.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  Год назад

      I’d definitely use jack and stands. You get a lot more heigh and it’s safer as the rear wheels are firmly on the ground.
