Very informative video, sadly a lot of people don't like to play alts, some like to play only their main character and enjoy all the progress made in that character like myself. While replacing the alt system (shared mats) might be impossible right now, a system that lets you use another character (like your main) for doing your alts chores would be nice for people like me, say u can do 10 chaos dungeons spread in your alts, well the system would let you do those in your main character while getting the alt's appropiate reward (in your alt or your main's inventory).
@@BuffPomsky meh i only play 2 hours daily and am able to complete dailies on 4 characters with ease. On weekends on do my legions. This is the best for me since i avoid burn out but progress quite fast. I honestly dont know how ppl manage a 6 1500 roster. That is insane to me. Also the difference with me is i enjoy my 4 toons and like playing on them. 3-4 characters is enough to progress and get to end game. Idk why these streamers or ppl in general think u need 6. Thats at least 3-4 hours of playing time doing dailies on them. When in reality 3 characters is enough to get to 1560 comfortably. No need to play more alts unless you want to but thats just too much time for me. Not to mention gearing 6 characters would take months for F2P. TLDR: 3 characters is enough to get to end game content anything more is semi usless unless you enjoy playing them. In terms of efficiency and time, 3 toons is the sweet spot. I play 4 with them being above 1500Ivl and under 900 hours total playing time.

@@gely_ How do people handle 6x 1500+ roster? By playing more. XD I have 6 1500+ characters. 1580 soulfist main, 1540 2nd soulfist, 1540 bard, 1515 glavier, 1515 arcana and 1510 summoner. All of them are 5x3. I also have a 7th char, 1490 Artist and 2 more 1415 alts (scrapper, wardancer). Una tasks and Chaos dungeon I do on all of them daily. Guardian raids I do them with rest. As for legion raids, I start from Wednesday after reset, minimum 4 raids per day and by Sunday I am done with all 18-19 raids. You don't need 6 character to progress, but having 6 means you can get the highest possible gold return. I generate around 120-130k gold per week by doing all raids, and that excludes bonuses such as engraving books random drops or lucky accessory.
I don't see a point to get gear for best raids. I just stick to 1445. Right spot to stop, before honing starts requiring gold. You will burn much more gold by reaching specific raids, than making it back with alts. People treat this game way too seriously
You burn more gold to reach specific raids than you can get back with alts, initially. Once you reach that item level and do raids a few weeks, your investment is returned. I invested hundreds of thousands of gold in getting a 6x 5x3 roster (5 dps 1 sup) buy now I generate about 120k gold per week. On average. Some weeks I generate far more due to lucky drops. The most optimal item level rights now is 1475 up to 1490, so you can do up to 3 raids per alt and generate above 10k gold per alt. 1445 unfortunately, due to the gold nerf right now only generates you like 7k gold? Valtan HM, Vykas NM and Argos. And Vykas NM is a nightmare to do with people being usually ill equipped there. I used to skip that shit with my alts and hone up to 1460 so I can do HM immediately.
@@AlexanderBC42 TBH, there is no point in you gaining the same amount of gold as before if there is no gold cost to hone up to 1460. We did not get the same gold nerf hammer as KR did when gold was removed from honing up to 1460. They earn far less from Valtan and Vykas than we do (except HM Vykas).
As someone who is 1560 with only express item level alts and barely play them, you absolutely DONT need alts to progress in this game its only if you want to progress faster, if you have patience and no fomo you will progress just fine with only a main character. I can play all the raids and still have time to play other games its the perfect playstyle for me at least.
Great vid! best choice I made was making 2 x Reapers and 2 x Deadeyes. Being able to share gems and engravings on 2 of my fave classes has speeded up progression a lot.
I think people take "LA is a job" as a meme but infact I work more hours on LA than real job. So it is a overtime job. LA is a job because you have daily and weekly tasks to complete just like IRL job otherwise you will not be getting wages.
I play my main just fine. Do all the dailies and raids quick and easy but once I'm done with my main. I really struggle wanting to even touch my alts now. I literally just lopanged all my alts and just go on them for that so I can use all the silver for my main. I don't even really do raids anymore on them and I have 3 1500+ alts and 4 -1460 alts. It really is a chore/part-time job playing alts. I really like playing this game but once I started just focusing on only really playing my main and not my alts. I had so much time to do other things.
Guys dont forget! alts @ "your" end game content are very expensive and not efficient. dont try to get 5 1490 alt when your main is around 1520~ . Yes you'll get more resources but you have to play alot more to get that investment back.
Alts should really only be made for entertainment. If you're making them for profit, it's not a great idea unless you're specifically going out of your way to make them cheap. Examples of this include staying super low item level where honing is near free, playing 4×3 supports, legacy scouter with only two gems or making class duplicates to share on books/gems. Let's imagine you make six different classes and don't play support. To 1490 from 1445 using only bound materials costs an average of 150k between gold, fusion materials and brel books. 1490 to 1540 is another 100K. Honing costs to 1540: 250K raw gold 5x3: ~50-300K, let's say 100K, which is being very generous. Many classes are 2-3x this price for a good setup. 11 gems at 12.5k each: 137.5K Net cost = 500K gold, after you add bracelet and gear crafting. This is purely using bound materials, this gold can't really be skipped via events. You do get a small amount of free Brel honing books per week from marks, which'll cut that down a tad. Do this five times, and you're spending 2.5 million gold for your army of 5 1540s. How long does it take to pay back 500K? Truthfully, without insane accessory RNG, a very long time. Legion raid gold looks great until you realize you're buying the box in every raid before 1490. Post 1490 Brel makes you a pittance after buying chests but at least you're nabbing 9k per week from Vykas/Clown as you don't buy box any more. You can sell your tradable blues/reds/leaps for more profit, but then your progression will be even slower, which increases the time taken until you're at optimal ROI. You're also going to deal with constant rejections in PF on item level, so you're probably going to have to go +15 above your target farm point.
You are missing the point. If you do all this in a short span of time, yes, that 2.5 million gold might seem a lot. But if you grow your alts organically, over time, not FOMOing, you will get there and then you will get your investment back gradually. I do not have even have a 6-char roster of 1540+. Main is at 1580, 2 alts at 1540, the rest are at 1510-1515 and I generate on average 100k gold per week just by raiding. Not counting lucky drops. Investing in an alt can be expensive, assuming you picked a char/build that is expensive, but if you picked the cheaper builds/chars, you will get your investment back on medium term.
Alts are actually the reason I quit. I had 3 characters, I'd play one a day so I could use full rest bonus. I then thought, I could play 2 per day! It would be so bad.... and it kind of killed it for me. I think the reason it killed it was the classes I chose didn't fit with me and I ended up not being attached to them, so not wanting to play. I now moved and would need to start again if I played again (because of the ping), I have been thinking of starting again because I was only 1400, and my new region (Japan), wouldn't take long to get there. My ping to NA-West is 160, so for boss mechanics it might suck
Hate the alt system in Lost Ark which is one of the main reasons why I stopped playing. But your videos are still cool and I still watch them. Hope you play/cover Diablo 4 and other games in the future.

Diablo is a successful franchise with a long history and an extensive fan-base compared to Lost Ark which is a new game made for Koreans which came to the West. It would've always had more players considering how successful D2 and D3 were and how anticipated D4 is. Unfortunately, the beta experience of D4 was meh. Last Epoch is better in all aspects than D4 is, and it ain't a finished product yet. It is also cheaper than D4.
I logged in today, first thing I saw was about 30 bots @ the honing station. Checked the raid games, so a lot less, everything is bus not because bussing is bad but because it's the only solution for most people now. Checked my stash, thought do I want to do all my rested on at least 6 chars, thought a bit and logged off.

Honestly, if this game wouldn't be full of delusional people who expect to do the latest content in a matter of weeks, it would be a much healthier environment. But it seems that people have lost the definition of "MMORPG" and "game". They play it like they have to beat someone at it and they treat it like a job.
While I think the video is very helpful and Sywo does a good job explaining things in a positive way, I think the mountain of dread of what a new player has to even consider to get to current content is immense. It's not encouraging to tell someone that it will take months to get to a place where you can play current content. Also, the time investment of playing all the alts and some players not realizing that they do not NEED to play every character equally, has led to a lot of players burning out. The content that you're doing on a daily and weekly basis is not engaging or challenging (aside from the first few times you clear them), and as a player you're not rewarded often enough for your efforts. It's a tough sell for a lot of players who aren't looking for that 6 months down the line investment while playing every day. When players feel like they are obligated to put in the time to just keep up, it stops being fun and it starts becoming a job. I still think Lost Ark is a very good game. Personally, I thought I was going to quit a long time ago, but I just kept going slowly at my own pace. I can't see myself wanting to engage in the current content anyways. I pretty much lost interest at Vykas, and haven't attempted clown or Brel.
@@laina80 I think all the raids could be fun if you have friends or a group you play with regularly. It’s not fun if you’re a solo player trying to pug all this. Also, I wasn’t interested in how mechanic heavy everything was. If you mess up and cause a wipe with friends, you laugh it off. If you do that in a pug, people quit and you’re stuck in jail.
@@garylai363 Nothing is stopping you from joining groups/guilds and do content with them. Initially I was a solo player too, and I would've quit a long time ago had I not been able to form a group and help each other. Me and a friend on mine, which we met in game in spring, managed to create a discord with around 20-25 people and we regularly raid together and help each other raise their alts, mains, etc. My advice is for you to avoid gatekeeping yourself by not engaging with groups/guilds and make an effort to integrate into a group or create one yourself. This game is not meant for solo player. You can solo it, but it makes your life more difficult due to the nature of pugs.
@@garylai363 I pug more than half my raids, and the others I do with friends/group, I don't have a set group for all of my raids so I have to make due... it's a lot more chill with friends for sure.

too many repeat systems + need to spend alot of time to do that + heavy grind for reason this game is basicly dead in EU/NA from 1m+ players to 50-100k!
6:00 'You have to *work* for them' - People don't want their game time to be second jobs Sywo. Grinding in games is nothing new, but generally when it occurs it has an end point that can be reached and completed...it is not usually everlasting. I cannot fathom how people can tolerate doing a dozen chaos dungeons, a dozen guardian raids and eighteen dailies a day, or MORE, for long without going literally insane...not to mention repeating the same raids over and over each week. If someone thinks that is *content* they have a screw loose. Clearly the 90-95% (or more) that have ditched the game is testimony to the fact that it's just not what players want to engage with long term. Let it die dude and find another game that deserves your content...
This game has some of the best combat/raids in the MMO genre, all games of this type and usually MMO's require time to play, it's a marathon.. I only run dailies rested and do my weeklies and have fun with friends and raid, I finish my dailies and weeklies, I'm not grinding everyday.

NA west isn’t dead but east does have more players so if you can turn play east. If you already played on west and don’t want to restart then I think it’ll be fine to keep playing west
You will not do islands and other timed event due to the lack of players & crazy ammount of bots. If you are fine without getting SKILLPOINTS and such - go ahead and try the game without making horizontal content (cause it's dead and you can't SOLO it - it doesn't scale with players ammount).
@@lainstructure there is no longer a crazy amount of bots, this is wrong info atm and you can still get groups for horizontal content depends on the time.. they are looking into changing the scaling on these.
If I'm going to be perfectly honest, I think this is a pretty bad guide. The number one reason people burn out in Lost Ark is because they feel like they "have" to do 18 raids on 6 characters plus dailies every week. But you don't. Actually, if you're not careful about alts they can easily *cost* more resources to hone and gear than they will ever produce. For most people focusing on a single character will actually be *more* efficient. That can change if you bus or something, but what percentage of Lost Ark players actually drive buses? The only reason you should *ever* have multiple characters at an item level like 1540+ is because you *want* to do endgame content on more characters. You have a limited number of entries per character per week so having more characters gives you more chances to play. But you should be doing that because you want to. Don't let it feel like an obligation. Also keep in mind that there is also a ton of stuff in this game that is rewarded at the roster level, i.e. having more characters does not get you more rewards. These roster-level rewards only get spread thinner when you try to push multiple characters, so keeping up with the latest content with a bunch of alts can actually be harder than on a single character. Roster-level rewards include: * Log-in and fever time rewards * All event rewards (there is basically always an event and these can be quite significant) * Weekly challenge abyss and guardian rewards * All the scheduled stuff (adventure islands, chaos gates, ghost ship, field bosses, etc.) * Gold from Una tokens * Life energy (not really a reward but it is useful for crafting materials you will need to hone and it is shared across your roster) * Ark pass (including the free track so it still matters for f2p players) That adds up to quite a lot, actually. If you're only playing one character and spend everything on that character it's actually pretty easy to keep up with the latest content. But if you're splitting that across 6 characters it gets a lot harder. Is it possible to use alts efficiently? Yes. But you generally have to keep them at a much lower item level than most people realize for them to actually be a positive return on investment. Currently you can hone to 1445 pretty easily and without spending gold so that makes a great parking spot for alts. But I think a lot of people with 1540+ mains are kind of sick of doing 1445 content and don't want to keep their alts there. But even going to 1490 is a *lot* more expensive. Look at a honing cost calculator and ask yourself how long will it take for the extra income those alts produce at the higher ilvl to actually pay for the cost of honing them there. Not to mention the cost of gearing if you go for something like 5x3 on all your alts, which is usually demanded for endgame content. Basically what I'm saying is don't fall into the alt trap that so many players do which completely burns them out on the game and isn't even productive. If you want an alt because you want to play the game more or just want to try out other classes, that's fine. But don't do it for 'efficiency' or something. It's not only unnecessary it can actually be counter productive.
Nice essay. I can do better: if u play alts u win money and lose time, if you dont play them u win time and loose money. Nobody wants either. Conclusion? They leave. Only those who play consistently can keep up. If someone takes for say a 3-4 month break he's done. Cant ever catch up. Impossible. I know it because i went through / and am still going through this. And I'm playing a LOT. So the game is neither new player, neither returning player friendly. This game only rewards u if you play all day every day and a lot of hours, or you swipe. You can say whatever you want, but this is the truth. And most ppl wont play one fwkin game all year long with 3+ hours daily. For most ppl this is a trash mobile game (they arent far from truth).
@@nerotv747 I feel like you didn't read my essay because you missed the thesis: it's not a choice between time or money. Most people who play alts lose time *and* money doing it. Alts are only efficient if you park them at pretty low levels, which few people actually do. If you push them to the latest content you'll spend more resources doing that than the alts will produce. They are a drain on your resources, not contributors. It is possible to be Brel hard ready playing one character and only doing rested dailies. If you're scoffing at that idea and think it's totally unrealistic that's because you've fallen into the alt trap.
Why would u play alts and grind all day long when from 10 players 8 does RMT. And from that 8 maximum 1 is banned. Those who dont RMT swipe. 9:20 dont boost your first character using the paid powerpass - you won't be able to hone because of the 1375 market requirement. And also there is a requirement to craft the honing mats in your stronghold
The main problem with alts in Lost Ark is they are all in different guilds. If a game is this alt heavy and already has a roster system, if u join a guild every of your alts should be in that one. Like in BDO. Have a roster family name or smth. So it doesnt matter which alt i play im still in the same guild. So people can know its ME.The communtiy is way too divided in Lost Ark. The guilds are dead. Every one of them. All of them is for farming mats and not for the community. Lost Ark doesnt have any guild content or guild community culture. Which equals in zero guild drama. Which equals in guilds being useless (except for the mats). Its such a bad design. The worst I ever saw ngl. Nobody knows noone in this game without discord, and its because ppl are always switching between chars and nobody can know who tf is who. There is no world chat in the game either. U literally cant communicate with ppl in this game. The chat function we have for this doesnt work. This game literally doesnt have any community inside itself, only outside in third party apps, where like 5% of the games population is active. What a joke.

@@lainstructure You haven't played old school MMO's probably, cause the grind in this one is incomparably better than how MMO's used to be in the past, and even monetization-wise, it pales in comparison with how MMO's were 10 or 15 years ago. Back in my day, most MMO's after a certain level were completely pay-walled and if you wanted to enchant gear, put gems of higher level, upgrade gear, you had to pay. Here all you have to do is to play the game, not invest any $ and you will get in a few months to the same point a whale is. Bots are actually beneficial to the game. They made honing more affordable, they are making gems now affordable thanks to the story express boss rush tickets (prices dropped by 30-40%), they made adventure tome collectibles cheap, they made trade skill resources cheap, etc. I bought my 3rd lv10 gem thanks to them.

When bots were running galore, I could buy stacks of mats for nothing. Only when botting was rampant I could buy lv10 dmg gems, because they dropped prices from 650-700k gold to 450k gold. So tell me, how are bots detrimental? For a f2p player experience, they are God-sent. I will always type and reply to you when you are wrong, because I have to correct your misinformation. I do not like some decisions AGS/SG made with this game, but the stuff you cited here are more of a you problem than a them problem. 😆

I have alts that I enjoy playing and went though different classes to find my main 6 and now have 12 characters, 6 I barely touch except for loping and my 6 mains I treat them all as mains. I rest bonus for the most part and play the class I feel like playing that day.

I Find that a rly good way to approach the Game, took me some alts to Find the perfect ones and i mostly only play rested, while doing my legion raids cuz those are fun
I hate alt concept and that was the main reason why i quit this game. I wish i could do 6x the same things in one Character, limiting content in one char while giving content in others is a anti-fun move, players that enjoy doing it on multiple chars, could still do it. But how would they get you to buy Pheons if they wouldn't literally force you to play multiple chars? It's all about business.

Played since 3 day head starts, still only have 1 character xD 1537 shadowhunter at 3k hours, 130 roaster level. And yes that is 100% f2p (beside the obvious founders pack).

Roster level cannot be overstated. I am ~90 at 1500Ilvl, without alts cos I don't enjoy plying the game as a job. I do not often get into content at all, and if I do, I am often bullied for it.
Doing the same exact content across 6 characters is mind numbing. I stopped playing because of this. Got all the way to 1560 and half way threw my 3rd brell run something clicked and I said fuck this.
Remember that by playing only your main or 1-2 extra characters, you are perectly fine to reach release content. Streamers play a lot of alts, because 1) it's their job to play videogames, which means 2) they have all day long or most of the rest of the day to dedicate to big rosters. Don't fomo, just play your fav character and take advantage of all events and don't let the memers tell you that you need 6 or 20 characters.

Very informative video, sadly a lot of people don't like to play alts, some like to play only their main character and enjoy all the progress made in that character like myself. While replacing the alt system (shared mats) might be impossible right now, a system that lets you use another character (like your main) for doing your alts chores would be nice for people like me, say u can do 10 chaos dungeons spread in your alts, well the system would let you do those in your main character while getting the alt's appropiate reward (in your alt or your main's inventory).
That's one of the reasons they have lost 30-40% of base playerbase at the early stages of the game.

@@BuffPomsky meh i only play 2 hours daily and am able to complete dailies on 4 characters with ease. On weekends on do my legions. This is the best for me since i avoid burn out but progress quite fast. I honestly dont know how ppl manage a 6 1500 roster. That is insane to me. Also the difference with me is i enjoy my 4 toons and like playing on them.
3-4 characters is enough to progress and get to end game. Idk why these streamers or ppl in general think u need 6. Thats at least 3-4 hours of playing time doing dailies on them. When in reality 3 characters is enough to get to 1560 comfortably. No need to play more alts unless you want to but thats just too much time for me. Not to mention gearing 6 characters would take months for F2P.
TLDR: 3 characters is enough to get to end game content anything more is semi usless unless you enjoy playing them. In terms of efficiency and time, 3 toons is the sweet spot. I play 4 with them being above 1500Ivl and under 900 hours total playing time.

I have 6 1500+ characters. 1580 soulfist main, 1540 2nd soulfist, 1540 bard, 1515 glavier, 1515 arcana and 1510 summoner. All of them are 5x3. I also have a 7th char, 1490 Artist and 2 more 1415 alts (scrapper, wardancer). Una tasks and Chaos dungeon I do on all of them daily. Guardian raids I do them with rest. As for legion raids, I start from Wednesday after reset, minimum 4 raids per day and by Sunday I am done with all 18-19 raids.
You don't need 6 character to progress, but having 6 means you can get the highest possible gold return. I generate around 120-130k gold per week by doing all raids, and that excludes bonuses such as engraving books random drops or lucky accessory.
I don't see a point to get gear for best raids. I just stick to 1445. Right spot to stop, before honing starts requiring gold.
You will burn much more gold by reaching specific raids, than making it back with alts.

The higher raids are more interesting and fun to do.
You burn more gold to reach specific raids than you can get back with alts, initially. Once you reach that item level and do raids a few weeks, your investment is returned. I invested hundreds of thousands of gold in getting a 6x 5x3 roster (5 dps 1 sup) buy now I generate about 120k gold per week. On average. Some weeks I generate far more due to lucky drops.
The most optimal item level rights now is 1475 up to 1490, so you can do up to 3 raids per alt and generate above 10k gold per alt. 1445 unfortunately, due to the gold nerf right now only generates you like 7k gold? Valtan HM, Vykas NM and Argos. And Vykas NM is a nightmare to do with people being usually ill equipped there. I used to skip that shit with my alts and hone up to 1460 so I can do HM immediately.
1460 for vycan HM is better, but shitgate will just nerf the gold under you!
@@AlexanderBC42 TBH, there is no point in you gaining the same amount of gold as before if there is no gold cost to hone up to 1460. We did not get the same gold nerf hammer as KR did when gold was removed from honing up to 1460. They earn far less from Valtan and Vykas than we do (except HM Vykas).

As someone who is 1560 with only express item level alts and barely play them, you absolutely DONT need alts to progress in this game its only if you want to progress faster, if you have patience and no fomo you will progress just fine with only a main character. I can play all the raids and still have time to play other games its the perfect playstyle for me at least.

Great vid! best choice I made was making 2 x Reapers and 2 x Deadeyes. Being able to share gems and engravings on 2 of my fave classes has speeded up progression a lot.
I think people take "LA is a job" as a meme but infact I work more hours on LA than real job. So it is a overtime job. LA is a job because you have daily and weekly tasks to complete just like IRL job otherwise you will not be getting wages.
I play my main just fine. Do all the dailies and raids quick and easy but once I'm done with my main. I really struggle wanting to even touch my alts now. I literally just lopanged all my alts and just go on them for that so I can use all the silver for my main. I don't even really do raids anymore on them and I have 3 1500+ alts and 4 -1460 alts. It really is a chore/part-time job playing alts. I really like playing this game but once I started just focusing on only really playing my main and not my alts. I had so much time to do other things.
I truly hate games that incentivise alts for main character advantage.
Guys dont forget! alts @ "your" end game content are very expensive and not efficient. dont try to get 5 1490 alt when your main is around 1520~ . Yes you'll get more resources but you have to play alot more to get that investment back.

Alts should really only be made for entertainment. If you're making them for profit, it's not a great idea unless you're specifically going out of your way to make them cheap. Examples of this include staying super low item level where honing is near free, playing 4×3 supports, legacy scouter with only two gems or making class duplicates to share on books/gems.
Let's imagine you make six different classes and don't play support.
To 1490 from 1445 using only bound materials costs an average of 150k between gold, fusion materials and brel books. 1490 to 1540 is another 100K.
Honing costs to 1540: 250K raw gold
5x3: ~50-300K, let's say 100K, which is being very generous. Many classes are 2-3x this price for a good setup.
11 gems at 12.5k each: 137.5K
Net cost = 500K gold, after you add bracelet and gear crafting. This is purely using bound materials, this gold can't really be skipped via events. You do get a small amount of free Brel honing books per week from marks, which'll cut that down a tad. Do this five times, and you're spending 2.5 million gold for your army of 5 1540s.
How long does it take to pay back 500K? Truthfully, without insane accessory RNG, a very long time. Legion raid gold looks great until you realize you're buying the box in every raid before 1490. Post 1490 Brel makes you a pittance after buying chests but at least you're nabbing 9k per week from Vykas/Clown as you don't buy box any more. You can sell your tradable blues/reds/leaps for more profit, but then your progression will be even slower, which increases the time taken until you're at optimal ROI. You're also going to deal with constant rejections in PF on item level, so you're probably going to have to go +15 above your target farm point.
You are missing the point. If you do all this in a short span of time, yes, that 2.5 million gold might seem a lot. But if you grow your alts organically, over time, not FOMOing, you will get there and then you will get your investment back gradually. I do not have even have a 6-char roster of 1540+. Main is at 1580, 2 alts at 1540, the rest are at 1510-1515 and I generate on average 100k gold per week just by raiding. Not counting lucky drops.
Investing in an alt can be expensive, assuming you picked a char/build that is expensive, but if you picked the cheaper builds/chars, you will get your investment back on medium term.
Alts are actually the reason I quit.
I had 3 characters, I'd play one a day so I could use full rest bonus.
I then thought, I could play 2 per day! It would be so bad.... and it kind of killed it for me.
I think the reason it killed it was the classes I chose didn't fit with me and I ended up not being attached to them, so not wanting to play.
I now moved and would need to start again if I played again (because of the ping), I have been thinking of starting again because I was only 1400, and my new region (Japan), wouldn't take long to get there. My ping to NA-West is 160, so for boss mechanics it might suck
Hate the alt system in Lost Ark which is one of the main reasons why I stopped playing. But your videos are still cool and I still watch them. Hope you play/cover Diablo 4 and other games in the future.

Diablo is a successful franchise with a long history and an extensive fan-base compared to Lost Ark which is a new game made for Koreans which came to the West. It would've always had more players considering how successful D2 and D3 were and how anticipated D4 is. Unfortunately, the beta experience of D4 was meh. Last Epoch is better in all aspects than D4 is, and it ain't a finished product yet. It is also cheaper than D4.
I logged in today, first thing I saw was about 30 bots @ the honing station. Checked the raid games, so a lot less, everything is bus not because bussing is bad but because it's the only solution for most people now. Checked my stash, thought do I want to do all my rested on at least 6 chars, thought a bit and logged off.
Some servers have more bots than others, my server doesn't have a bot problem really.. few bots but not that bad.

While I think the video is very helpful and Sywo does a good job explaining things in a positive way, I think the mountain of dread of what a new player has to even consider to get to current content is immense. It's not encouraging to tell someone that it will take months to get to a place where you can play current content.
Also, the time investment of playing all the alts and some players not realizing that they do not NEED to play every character equally, has led to a lot of players burning out. The content that you're doing on a daily and weekly basis is not engaging or challenging (aside from the first few times you clear them), and as a player you're not rewarded often enough for your efforts. It's a tough sell for a lot of players who aren't looking for that 6 months down the line investment while playing every day. When players feel like they are obligated to put in the time to just keep up, it stops being fun and it starts becoming a job.
I still think Lost Ark is a very good game. Personally, I thought I was going to quit a long time ago, but I just kept going slowly at my own pace. I can't see myself wanting to engage in the current content anyways. I pretty much lost interest at Vykas, and haven't attempted clown or Brel.

@@laina80 I think all the raids could be fun if you have friends or a group you play with regularly. It’s not fun if you’re a solo player trying to pug all this. Also, I wasn’t interested in how mechanic heavy everything was. If you mess up and cause a wipe with friends, you laugh it off. If you do that in a pug, people quit and you’re stuck in jail.
@@garylai363 Nothing is stopping you from joining groups/guilds and do content with them. Initially I was a solo player too, and I would've quit a long time ago had I not been able to form a group and help each other. Me and a friend on mine, which we met in game in spring, managed to create a discord with around 20-25 people and we regularly raid together and help each other raise their alts, mains, etc.
My advice is for you to avoid gatekeeping yourself by not engaging with groups/guilds and make an effort to integrate into a group or create one yourself. This game is not meant for solo player. You can solo it, but it makes your life more difficult due to the nature of pugs.

6:00 'You have to *work* for them' - People don't want their game time to be second jobs Sywo. Grinding in games is nothing new, but generally when it occurs it has an end point that can be reached and completed...it is not usually everlasting. I cannot fathom how people can tolerate doing a dozen chaos dungeons, a dozen guardian raids and eighteen dailies a day, or MORE, for long without going literally insane...not to mention repeating the same raids over and over each week. If someone thinks that is *content* they have a screw loose.
Clearly the 90-95% (or more) that have ditched the game is testimony to the fact that it's just not what players want to engage with long term. Let it die dude and find another game that deserves your content...
This game has some of the best combat/raids in the MMO genre, all games of this type and usually MMO's require time to play, it's a marathon.. I only run dailies rested and do my weeklies and have fun with friends and raid, I finish my dailies and weeklies, I'm not grinding everyday.

na west has a good population and na east both, i know a few people on west but i mainly play on east server. eu west is the lowest in pop.

You will not do islands and other timed event due to the lack of players & crazy ammount of bots.
If you are fine without getting SKILLPOINTS and such - go ahead and try the game without making horizontal content (cause it's dead and you can't SOLO it - it doesn't scale with players ammount).
@@lainstructure there is no longer a crazy amount of bots, this is wrong info atm and you can still get groups for horizontal content depends on the time.. they are looking into changing the scaling on these.
If I'm going to be perfectly honest, I think this is a pretty bad guide.
The number one reason people burn out in Lost Ark is because they feel like they "have" to do 18 raids on 6 characters plus dailies every week. But you don't. Actually, if you're not careful about alts they can easily *cost* more resources to hone and gear than they will ever produce. For most people focusing on a single character will actually be *more* efficient. That can change if you bus or something, but what percentage of Lost Ark players actually drive buses?
The only reason you should *ever* have multiple characters at an item level like 1540+ is because you *want* to do endgame content on more characters. You have a limited number of entries per character per week so having more characters gives you more chances to play. But you should be doing that because you want to. Don't let it feel like an obligation.
Also keep in mind that there is also a ton of stuff in this game that is rewarded at the roster level, i.e. having more characters does not get you more rewards. These roster-level rewards only get spread thinner when you try to push multiple characters, so keeping up with the latest content with a bunch of alts can actually be harder than on a single character. Roster-level rewards include:
* Log-in and fever time rewards
* All event rewards (there is basically always an event and these can be quite significant)
* Weekly challenge abyss and guardian rewards
* All the scheduled stuff (adventure islands, chaos gates, ghost ship, field bosses, etc.)
* Gold from Una tokens
* Life energy (not really a reward but it is useful for crafting materials you will need to hone and it is shared across your roster)
* Ark pass (including the free track so it still matters for f2p players)
That adds up to quite a lot, actually. If you're only playing one character and spend everything on that character it's actually pretty easy to keep up with the latest content. But if you're splitting that across 6 characters it gets a lot harder.
Is it possible to use alts efficiently? Yes. But you generally have to keep them at a much lower item level than most people realize for them to actually be a positive return on investment. Currently you can hone to 1445 pretty easily and without spending gold so that makes a great parking spot for alts. But I think a lot of people with 1540+ mains are kind of sick of doing 1445 content and don't want to keep their alts there. But even going to 1490 is a *lot* more expensive. Look at a honing cost calculator and ask yourself how long will it take for the extra income those alts produce at the higher ilvl to actually pay for the cost of honing them there. Not to mention the cost of gearing if you go for something like 5x3 on all your alts, which is usually demanded for endgame content.
Basically what I'm saying is don't fall into the alt trap that so many players do which completely burns them out on the game and isn't even productive. If you want an alt because you want to play the game more or just want to try out other classes, that's fine. But don't do it for 'efficiency' or something. It's not only unnecessary it can actually be counter productive.
Nice essay. I can do better: if u play alts u win money and lose time, if you dont play them u win time and loose money. Nobody wants either. Conclusion? They leave. Only those who play consistently can keep up. If someone takes for say a 3-4 month break he's done. Cant ever catch up. Impossible. I know it because i went through / and am still going through this. And I'm playing a LOT. So the game is neither new player, neither returning player friendly. This game only rewards u if you play all day every day and a lot of hours, or you swipe. You can say whatever you want, but this is the truth. And most ppl wont play one fwkin game all year long with 3+ hours daily. For most ppl this is a trash mobile game (they arent far from truth).

Alts are only efficient if you park them at pretty low levels, which few people actually do. If you push them to the latest content you'll spend more resources doing that than the alts will produce. They are a drain on your resources, not contributors.
It is possible to be Brel hard ready playing one character and only doing rested dailies. If you're scoffing at that idea and think it's totally unrealistic that's because you've fallen into the alt trap.

9:20 dont boost your first character using the paid powerpass - you won't be able to hone because of the 1375 market requirement. And also there is a requirement to craft the honing mats in your stronghold

The main problem with alts in Lost Ark is they are all in different guilds. If a game is this alt heavy and already has a roster system, if u join a guild every of your alts should be in that one. Like in BDO. Have a roster family name or smth. So it doesnt matter which alt i play im still in the same guild. So people can know its ME.The communtiy is way too divided in Lost Ark. The guilds are dead. Every one of them. All of them is for farming mats and not for the community. Lost Ark doesnt have any guild content or guild community culture. Which equals in zero guild drama. Which equals in guilds being useless (except for the mats). Its such a bad design. The worst I ever saw ngl. Nobody knows noone in this game without discord, and its because ppl are always switching between chars and nobody can know who tf is who. There is no world chat in the game either. U literally cant communicate with ppl in this game. The chat function we have for this doesnt work. This game literally doesnt have any community inside itself, only outside in third party apps, where like 5% of the games population is active. What a joke.

@@lainstructure You haven't played old school MMO's probably, cause the grind in this one is incomparably better than how MMO's used to be in the past, and even monetization-wise, it pales in comparison with how MMO's were 10 or 15 years ago. Back in my day, most MMO's after a certain level were completely pay-walled and if you wanted to enchant gear, put gems of higher level, upgrade gear, you had to pay. Here all you have to do is to play the game, not invest any $ and you will get in a few months to the same point a whale is.
Bots are actually beneficial to the game. They made honing more affordable, they are making gems now affordable thanks to the story express boss rush tickets (prices dropped by 30-40%), they made adventure tome collectibles cheap, they made trade skill resources cheap, etc. I bought my 3rd lv10 gem thanks to them.

That's how the standard was 10-15 years ago. Unless you had a sizable bank account, MMOs were mostly off limits for f2p players.

Only when botting was rampant I could buy lv10 dmg gems, because they dropped prices from 650-700k gold to 450k gold. So tell me, how are bots detrimental? I have alts that I enjoy playing and went though different classes to find my main 6 and now have 12 characters, 6 I barely touch except for loping and my 6 mains I treat them all as mains. I rest bonus for the most part and play the class I feel like playing that day.

I wish i could do 6x the same things in one Character, limiting content in one char while giving content in others is a anti-fun move, players that enjoy doing it on multiple chars, could still do it. But how would they get you to buy Pheons if they wouldn't literally force you to play multiple chars? It's all about business.

I don‘t know how many ppl you guys know, but these which I know are roster 200+ and are doing Valtan or Vykas/Clown/Brel 7-10 times a week
I don‘t talk about those alts at 1445-1490, more about those on 1510+
@@randomasian1830 I have several alts at 1540 and a main at 1560 and I've been only running rested dailies for a few months now, I don't do them everyday and I'm ready for hard mode brel and will be akkan ready.
remember dont burnout, dont strees about being optimal...
I don't want my alts to turn into a chore.. The dailies and such always turn into chores and ruin MMOs for me.
Play one character for fun or play 6 characters and quit.
Sadly, I wanted to keep up with gear only playing one other alt
Why I hate to be jailed: I play 2 accounts every account has 24 characters and need to finish every daily and weekly on reset day

After a year with Lost Ark i got 17 characters atm, most of them start to close into 1500+

@@derhenker1799 Nah i am working on my job and doing other stuff outside of Lost Ark, but ofc most of my freetime i spend in the game and i dont regret a single hour.

Roster level cannot be overstated. I am ~90 at 1500Ilvl, without alts cos I don't enjoy plying the game as a job. I do not often get into content at all, and if I do, I am often bullied for it.

Doing the same exact content across 6 characters is mind numbing. I stopped playing because of this. Got all the way to 1560 and half way threw my 3rd brell run something clicked and I said fuck this.
Remember that by playing only your main or 1-2 extra characters, you are perectly fine to reach release content. Streamers play a lot of alts, because 1) it's their job to play videogames, which means 2) they have all day long or most of the rest of the day to dedicate to big rosters.
Don't fomo, just play your fav character and take advantage of all events and don't let the memers tell you that you need 6 or 20 characters.

Compeitive players will always fomo. MMOs are competitive. So the FOMO is always there. Pair this with 80% of the MMO community being competitive and u understand why ppl hate this trash homework online called Lost Ark
"alt system" probably the worst system in mmo.
