I think it's a shame that Pauline and Ninji are far too easy to unlock. They should have made it similar to Super Mario Party, where you have to meet certain criteria for these characters to appear and then be able to unlock them. I would have liked it if, for example, Pauline only appeared on the island when you win three parties with Pro Rules (either solo or with two people) and Ninji, for example, only appeared when you win all difficulty levels of Koopathlon or defeat Impostor Bowser three times on the most difficult level in Bowser Kaboom Squad.
Those would be awesome unlock criteria for both characters! Honestly probably S tier! It's kinda sad they had to be super easy to unlock. Great ideas and thanks for watching!
This is true, it applies to Boo, Bowser and Bowser Jr. I didn't count them because they are exclusive to that one amiibo-only mode in the game and are not a part of the main roster, but yeah locking all 3 of their playability in that game at all behind an amiibo was a poor move. I think diddy and pom pom should be higher up, as to unlock challenge road, you need to unlock every minigame in the game which requires you to play most of the modes to unlock the minigames.
Ohhhh I didn't realize that, that's kinda cool! For some reason I felt like I unlocked Diddy Kong and Pom Pom rather quickly in that game, but my memory must've failed me. About Mario Party 10 you mentioned, 600 Mario Party points is practically nothing cause some minigame achievements give you 300-700 Mario Party Points so it's fairly easy to get them
These videos confuse me a little. Are you ranking characters on unlock difficulty, or unlock enjoyment? It comes off as enjoyment most of the time, but sometimes it feels like difficulty is the factor.
It's a mixture of both. It's primarily a difficulty ranking but if I don't enjoy it then it gets knocked down a couple tiers for me. I would classify it as "unlock satisfaction," being the ratio of how hard it is to unlock to how much I enjoyed the process. Hence why Shy Guy and Kamek in MP are A tier despite not necessarily being too hard to unlock, I enjoyed the process and it did require a bit of time consumption. Hopefully that cleared some things up and thank you for watching!
Isn't it funny how DK's parts are so OP when you face against him in Super Duel Mode in Mario Party 5 yet as soon as you beat him and use them yourself they suddenly become absolute dogwater lol.
Yeah I lost to him the first time I played against him when trying to unlock him! Crazy because like you said his parts aren't that great when WE use them 😂. Regardless it's cool to get to play as DK in MP5 even if it's just in Super Duel mode. They should've made Bowser unlockable too I don't know why they kept him as an NPC. Thanks for watching!

I think that Pom Pom was first playable in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, but only in the 3DS version as a goalie in Football (Soccer). She next was a selectable teammate in Mario Sports Superstars for baseball or a goalie in soccer. That said, Super Mario Party is a much more popular game, so I don't blame your logic. I think Super Mario Party had the best character unlocking system, though it could be more fleshed out. As much as I love Jamboree, it's a bummer they didn't go with that system again. I love doing different things for different characters.
They didn’t even try with the super games, I wish you got ninji from the story mode, for Pauline you should have unlocked king bowsers keep for Pauline, and dry bones did they even try, that’s a Mario kart 8 style unlock critea.

I think it's a bit harsh to rank pauline and ninji in F tier. Yeah, it's easy to unlock them, but I still think it's kind of neat how you have to search for them in the background. Plus, after finding them for the first time, you can notice other characters in the background you can take pictures of for your album. I actually didn't notice that you could take pictures on the hot air balloon until completing the story mode, so when I found pauline and ninji chilling in the background, I thought it was kind of a cool way to unlock them. Also even if they're easy to unlock, at least it's not unfun like DK's unlock critera in super mario party.

Boo in Star Rush is the worst unlock in this series because it requires the Boo amiibo.

It looks like DK and Toadette have the most appearances as unlock roles. Blooper was way more common as the round opponent when I played 8.

They were planned to be unlockable, but at the end they got scrapped in favor of being in the main roster in the final version of the game
