Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. @Coleen West You and I have very different definitions of "men"... Since when do you have to drive around in a pickup truck, or a big SUV, to not see yourself as "effeminate" or a "sissy"... If anything, women tend to prefer SUVs over men. And where I live, along with the demographic I tend to interact with (YOUNG mid to upper class folks), the "men" are equally split between owning/driving luxury sedans and SUVs, whereas women tend to lean more towards SUVs and Crossovers.
@Coleen West "Fun" for me in cars are cars like the Boxster GTS, or even "cars" like the BMW M3. And yes, that also includes trucks and SUVs, but that's a different type of "fun". I don't think I know any guys who would consider driving anything that ain't "lifted" as unmanly or "uncool", nor would they really care; and 90% my friends are under 30.
@Coleen West How old are you... like 10? I get the impression that you're some edgy kid who seems to think he knows what's trendy. I'm 26, so I'm definitely not old lmfao. You do realize cars don't just refer to boring old sedans like the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord right? Much like how SUVs don't just refer to boring ol RAV4s or CRVs. Cars like the Audi RS3, or a C63AMG Coupe, is what car enthusiasts tend to want... Alongside nicer SUVs and pickup trucks too I guess.

Totally agree, not disrupting the actual mirror portion and others don’t feel like jumping in and out of you blind spot.
That’s one of my favorite things about my 15’ because it’s not distracting and you need to look at the mirror anyways to make a lane change

Just got a 2020 in quantum gray black optics absolutely beautiful. Love the car, so quality so fast. Every-time i approach a stop light my hands already reaching for the traction control to do a launch. Feels like tour own little personal roller coaster when you do a launch in this baby.

Glad to live in Germany tho, always get that "cmon floor it till max speed" feel. Sad it's mostly 60-75mph in the US
Nah I’m in the u.s and there’s plenty of spots where you can go well over 100. Just not for long periods of times. I’ve hit 125 in my passat 2.0t.

Sure, in the Germany you have sections of roads with no speed limits but speed limits are very strictly enforced on sections of roads with speed limits. In the us we have pretty low speed limits but very little enforcement.

@@chestophercolumbo4561 everyone loves to bash audi reliability. It is a bandwagon commonly jumped on by people who have never even owned one. I took the audi gamble and have 0 regrets. Get a car that has been well taken care of and take care of it as well, that's the trick.

@Coleen West That S4 will leave the vast majority of trucks (95%) in the dust, pickup guys are just compensating.
@Coleen West Some guys like cars, some guys like trucks. Some like both get over it.
@Coleen West I'm "young" but I would still consider myself a car guy as well as most of my friends. It's not that we dislike trucks we just like cars more. Cars are dying out because SUVs are selling like crazy.
I thought you were dead wrong when you stated it's a turbo V6, as they've always said "V6T" on the fenders despite previously being supercharged, but to my surprise I looked it up to find they have indeed switched to turbo.
2019 S4 is my daily driver spring, summer, fall - the roads are salted here in winter and I want to keep the metal intact.

Hey everyone just letting you guys know that the extremely cold weather also plays a part in making the engine more powerful as cold air enters the engine so in other words it will hammer more in the cold than on a 35 degree hot day ..
The transmission is very quick, you have to let your foot off the gas if you want to downshift quickly.

I just got 2018 S5 sprotback, and like you said and showed, handling and acceleration is mental. Launching into a corner is also fun :) when you just cruise, fuel consumption is surprisingly good, which means you don't have to stop every 2h to hours to refuel.
However, the gearbox isn't THAT great. My previous car was A3 with 2.0 TDI and DSG, it changes gears faster. And my S5 in launch doesn't kick, it's more like a proper push that lasts a bit. Like when a driver releases the clutch in maual with too many rpms and they do it a bit too slow. Maybe there is something wrong with mine though, previous owner did 40k km in one year :D

ay, i know exactly where this is. There's a road a few miles away from there that actually has corners, which is surprising for michigan, that I like to go down in my s4. It's actually smooth too. Another surprising thing for michigan.

Currently have a 14 Jeep SRT. Love the transmission in it. Sport mode shifting is quick. Im just wondering if this new S4 is as quick shifting. He claimed a little lag on downshift. Anybody driven both who knows? I’m in the market for something else and can’t make a damn decision

This does have the sports rear diff and dynamic ride control. I'm pretty sure dynamic steering is separate from the S package.
Absolutely love how understated this car is! You could even confuse it with a mk6 Jetta. And it seems to drive like a dream!!

How would you compare that ZF 8 speed with GM's 8 speed? Judging by how they respond to paddle inputs n youtube videos, ths GM unit seems as if it came straight from 1987.
Driven both, the GM one is not up to par. That being said, Audi's tuning of this ZF8 is inferior to BMW's tuning of the same transmission. BMW's is snappier, Audi was a tiny bit too conservative with it. That kinda describes the B9 generation S4/5 and RS4/5: a little bit too comfortable, not visceral enough.

I've got the S5 Sportback. Same as the S4, except that the S5 is a killer in the looks department and the hatch makes it way more practical. Loving it.

Gosh I'm glad I live in California. That weather there, looks depressing :/
I really dont understand this car... Why would they go from supercharger to turbo when everyone was saying how rapid the throttle response was on the previous gen... With a bigger pulley they couldve gotten the exact same power as this with zero lag. Then they decided to make the S4 diesel too which on the S6 I dont mind because it suits it but on the S4... Idk man. Its a pretty light car, no need for the diesel like on the 6.
Also, the gearbox... I like the ZF8 but its not for this car. The previous gen with DSG was a nutty car. This one feels like one that a 50 year old family man would drive... Zf box, turbo for efficiency... Not a fan.

Look for a b7 (2006-2008) they are cheap now a days and i just bought a b7 s4. When looking at a used one ask about water pump and timing chain. They are the most expensive parts to replace (timing chain tensioner alone is between 2500 and 4000 USD)

A4 2019 premium plus black optics package and s line practically a s4 shits a dream love it, how ever if u have 43k get the s4 used with like 20k miles.
@@brentkuiken7152 only if u know cars and how to fix them should u get a old shit box, go to a dealership get a pre certified owned with only 15-20k miles practically brand new for 20 thousand less msrp, still having 2-3 years of warranty so no head aches.. now if u don’t got bread for it then u shouldn’t even be getting a s4… go buy a 2018 Jetta for 14k lol

well this S4 is my daily driver.... I also have a 2015 BMW M4 for fun..... I've already had to re-do the head gaskets in this S4 twice, and I'm still losing quite a bit of oil.... The dash says the front headlight is out... but its not... so I'm not sure whats going on there.... So My plan is to drive this until something major happens,, sell the car as-is... then buy a 2-3 year old S4 again... I'd like to get the RS3, but I don't think its a good idea to have 2 cars that cost that much
@@Soljarag5 The RS3 is a Golf with an Audi-unique engine and mostly uses Golf parts. If that still bothers you, get the S3 and throw an APR tune on it and get nearly as much entertainment value while having near universal compatibility with Golf parts because only the body components are Audi-specific. Frankly, the MQB-based Audis are actually more fun to drive in general than the MLB ones; a little more raw.
