i used to own a 252 A5 stage 1 and it was almost as quick as a stock s5. A stage 1 map transforms those cars, just make sure you get the gearbox mapped as well.

I have this car. I was debating what to upgrade it with down the line, but haven't found anything that looks good, drives good, but can be comfortable.
I’m having such a difficult time deciding between this and a TTS, especially because they’re both such different cars. The TTS is lighter, smaller, more nimble, and more mechanically simple. Whereas the S4 is more refined, has a proper and more playful Quattro drivetrain, is far more practical, is more modern, and is far more mature/sensible (whilst still having the superior sex appeal!). The S4 is the better car, but it’s also more expensive (in every single aspect) - whereas the TTS is just a better recipe for outright speed and agility over everything else (even if it’s potentially less fun and playful because of it). It’s such a hard decision!! The weight reductions Audi have been able to accomplish to get this S4 to such a low weight for an AWD V6 saloon in 2023 is it’s saving grace - and it is what makes me think that the S4 is what I will ultimately end up getting (which makes sense considering that it’s ‘far more car’ for the money). Not to mention that you can actually power-slide it and get it to rotate with the throttle😁! Did i just make up my mind by writing this comment? Lol
Another great review as usual Tom! This or the B9 A5/S5 are my absolute favourite daily dream cars. Maybe if car prices come down to sensible levels again I'll pick one up next
I had a B8.5 black edtion, no problems whatsoever, perfect daily driver, could do literally everything, ultra practical and maintainance wasnt stupid either. Only downside was outdated infotainment screen and kept accidentally pressing the nav button😂
I currently have an A4 B8 TDI sport quattro remapped to 240bhp. Great car, and there's lots of punch, but I will be buying a S4 next year. The new diesel version sounds interesting
I’m late here but these cars are incredibly hard to drive in the snow in fact dangerous, I’ve got a S5 RS3 and AMG 43 but when it snows I use my 56 plate Suzuki Jeep not fast but gets me there and back in style but I do live in the highlands
The S4 is a nice car tbf, but with the M340i on the market, it does seem a bit obsolete... the M340i being faster, comfier, more fuel efficient, and cheaper is just a done deal imo
The M340i is not at all comfier. Backseats are cramped, not enough cup holders, bumpy ride and Violent acceleration, slow seat heating. Rented both for about a month each, performance wise the M340i is superior but I have too say comfort wise the S4 takes it
This is fundamentally better, however, the B8/8.5 does have its own charm. The noise of the supercharger and quick shifts from the dsg are pretty cool.
ironically the avant actually understeers a bit less as it has more weight over the back, i'd always pick an avant/touring over the saloon as i love an estate.
@@ParagonCarsLondon good anwer i can guess becoz it is logic and about fun driving i imagine even a A 4 avant 2.0 Liter 45 TFSI is less fun than 430 D or i F32 or 330 iG20 . thanks to your answer
Really enjoyed your review. When you were driving it did you find an annoying throttle lag whilst in town? I came from a 435D which pretty much felt instantaneous when you put your foot down, with the S4 I find myself having to drive it in S+Dynamic to get a remotely responsive drive, and it isn't turbo lag, pretty annoying as they both have a ZF box. Had a similar issue in my 2015 Golf 7 R too which I remedied with a pedalbox, but the S4 using a digital pedal couldn't be fixed with a pedalbox. Would be interested to hear your thoughts as you drive so many vehicles. Thanks!
BMW are just really good at gearbox mapping so even though it’s the same gearbox the BMW will feel more responsive. I believe XHP are looking at tuning the gearboxes for audi’s if they haven’t done so already so i’d keep an eye on that.
Another brilliant vid, just figuring out if I should get the 2017/18 s3 (high spec) or save up some more for an s4, could I get your opinion please? I’m struggling to make my mind up
@joshtinkler8191 Tbh they are both really good. I had 2015 S4 and also 2017 S3, both as good as eachother, S4 will need more juice of course and S3 Is smaller but just flip a coin😂
That’s true plus they weigh he’ll lot more then 140i, I got stage 2+ m140i approx (490) bhp it would beat this Audi in reverse even if the 140i was stock.
@lukeskywalker1666 what a load of bullshit I have a stock b8.5 s4 with a Throttle Controller and smoked a tuned m140i on the motorway so you don't know sweet fuck all
This is a pretty bad review considering you have no complaints about the interior of this car. Anyone who had the experience to drive in one of these on a bumpy road knows how noisy it is in the interior because auf the bad build quality.
Goated car, insurance would’ve killed me so went for the 252 2.0 A4 myself need to get it remapped now so won’t be far off the s4 stock

RS3 just for the unique engine. RS3 will also be more expensive to maintain but well worth it.

how do you compare this to the M3? I imagine the M3 will be more fun but maybe not as comfortable or refined?
The M3 is a completely different animal. The S4 is like a slightly more refined bmw 340i. M3 is far more capable, especially as a track car.
