- Horizon Lunar Colony was home to many experiments, some not as large as the others. Hammond a genetically modified Hamster managed to escape and after years fighting in JunkerTown he's ready to take on the rest of the world.

I think this is Blizzard trying to not take themselves too seriously. Also Seagull streamed some dev talk the other day, and from what I gathered the concept of a tank such as Hammond predated its tie-in to the lore of Horizon: Lunar Colony. They might have made him an omnic but they already had bastion, so they decided to go in another direction (and with people liking the idea of jetpack cat they might have decided they don't need to be too serious about this character concept)
I also think a place such as junkertown is basically the only place where Hammond could get away with what he accomplished, as it is the absolute wild west where power matters the most I assume, and is also the place that originated the likes of Roadhog and Junkrat. Seeing how crazy and wild those two are I don't find it too unbelievable Hammond got away with not showing himself, especially if he was strong enough in his mech for no one to want to question him (I like to think some people tried and got pummeled for it :D)
I can understand them wanting to keep the game light hearted, I think you would struggle to say it's not even if there are some darker themes hidden under the surface. As I understand it, half the team liked this idea and half didn't so jeff has tried it to measure the reaction.
In terms of the law, it does tie into both places although it does feel somewhat forced, when originally they had attempted to tie the lore together in a way that makes sense. As it's gone on it has been losing focus and more holes have started to appear. I still think story wise an Omnic would be better in pretty much every way but clearly that isn't the aim of this hero.
He's at least a fun character, we'll just have to wait a bit longer to see what they are going to do with the main story.
Well an omnic wouldn't work in junkertown I would think, and I assume they wanted to expand somewhat on that region since the most we know about it is the story of 2 outcasts from the place. But yes, there are some holes as of now, but I would like to see if they get patched up decently or not. I don't feel like the tie-in is forced, but that may change with how they choose to portray the story. I do like the contrast of going from a scientific facility to the wild outback, to me it really shows the adaptability of the character in different environments, which I assume is what the intention was (and sets him apart form winston to a degree)
He is a very fun character to play! And I hope they give us more main story soon, it has been a while since we've had some :(
Always nice to hear the soundtrack in the background.
But really though. In terms of present day lore. It would be nice to see character's present day whereabouts more often.
It really would, we keep dipping back into the past which occasionally muddies things up. We really need a new cinematic to pull it together more.

I feel like the queen has to know that about Hammond, but since he’s proven himself, it became their dirty secret. I just want to see how they take this obscure story and apply it to the queen once she’s ready to go.
Yea that's what I assumed until Jeff said no one ever found out. Maybe he just mispoke.
I do wonder if they will make her a hero, if they do I can't see us hearing anything about it until the end of the year.

What do you think of Wrecking Ball as a character do you think he's a good edition to the lore and will be significant or do you think he's more of a side line character with no real significance? P.s. love your vids bin watching for longer than a year now
I'm a little torn honestly. As a character he's a lot of fun to play. However he is somewhat to the side of the plot, for now at least. This was another opportunity to answer Winston's recall missed. As of right now I think an Omnic with the same abilities would fit the world better, advance the plot and not have odd plot holes the way Hammond does.
Are you considering doing a Dva video now that she has more lore?
I am actually, I've almost finished the script so once I've been through all the Blizzcon changes I'll start making it.

That moon base is reminding me more and more of rocket racoons origin, with all the animals that have been evolved to human levels of intelligence
I can see that feel, what you're saying is we need a gun wielding Racoon who rides a tree, right?
I find the whole time of him findind his way into Junkertown odd, apparently the Queen and everyone else have no idea he is an hamster? That's stupid, I presumed the Queen was smarter than that to take a strange mech at face value. And to be crowned champion without showing himself. Naa..
Indeed, his entire story is full of plot holes. I think they went with it because it's funny not because it adds anything or makes sense in the story. Still think him being an Omnic would have been far more interesting. A more modern version of Bastion that fits with the story, progresses it and generally just makes more sense.
True, we need more Omnics for sure.
Or maybe she knows he's a Hamster but because he put on a good show regardless, she allows it. From my understanding the strong are the ones who run the show in junker down and if this little hamster is strong, what do they care what he is? Winston sure proved that animals could be powerful and intelligent, why couldn't a Hamster be?
Besides, you don't look a ally in the mouth. If he was willing to throw his lot in with the queen, and pledge his loyalty and strength to her, who was she to deny him?
But that's not what happened according to the lore. Jeff specifically said no one ever knew his true identity. It would as you said make alot more sense if the queen knew who they were even if the others didn't.
Hmm... Well, then maybe power speaks for itself for her. She doesn't care who it is inside the shell as long as they are powerful and loyal.

They look really cool but I wouldn't say excited for them. They had them all at Blizzcon along with a giant D.va Mech.
