It blows my mind that they can stay in time with each other for this song. Especially in a festival setting like this where everything is really fucking loud and it can be hard to hear everything clearly.
I think it's a tad farfetched to call it mind-blowing. It is pretty incredible how tight they are as an ensemble, but it's pretty clear to me it's come from stupid amounts of hard work and dedication to their craft, in the same way a painter or sculptur might inspire the same thoughts. It's not beyond comprehension or anything like it, just fucking loads of passion innit.

Wow. I FKNG WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE FOR BLACK MIDI! superb band, so glad they were on. I love the discordant, Fall-ish vibes. What great musicians they are!
This was the first time I had seen them live, could only convenience one out of a group of 20 to go, that one person was not disappointed. Although his brain was struggling to process what he was seeing 😂.
I went to see these guys when they came to Frisco and the mosh pit was wild. One guy climbed on stage and Geordie, in the middle of a song, told him to "get the fuck off my stage" and continued singing like it was part of the song. Stayed in tune and in time. Legend.
Saw these guys live in New Orleans and holy shit it was such a blast I had to buy a shirt and a hat after the show. Never had I ever moshed so hard in my life 🫃
When I was 20 (years of age) three bands that I knew of would go on stage and just make noise - raucous, unstructured noise. These bands were the MC5, the Stooges (w/Iggy Pop) and Pink Floyd. The MC5 began their career by playing Stones tunes, and their first single was “I Can Only Give You Everything” by Them (w/Van Morrison). Then, they saw a performance by the great Sun Ra & His Space Arkestra, and they realized that what they had been doing was shit. So they began imitating free jazz (Sun Ra, Albert Alyer). The MC5, the Stooges and Pink Floyd were my three favorite bands. But within 8 years, the 5 had gone back to Rock & Roll, Iggy was singing with David Bowie, and Pink Floyd were doing anthems and dirges. What does this augur for Black MIDI in the future? Stay tuned !
