This song holds a special place in my musical history, it was one of the few singles my parents owned that I got to play on my Dansett major back in the 60’s.
Humm thank you everso much , such Songs sung vey well , in a simple manner , clear;ly understood , sung along with the melody prominent ,just GREAT thank you
Vic Flick was on guitar, probably with other session musicians. Apart from being a member of The John Barry Seven, Vic also worked as a session player. He was on Tom Jones' first hits. Just listen to the guitar on 'It's Not Unusual'. His guitar can also be heard on 'A World Without Love' (Peter & Gordon).
And wasnt Joe meek shafted by the record companies, and everyone else. Went mad in the end and did himself in. He was skint and in dept, but would have been rich if he got paid what he was entitled to, and on time.
@@anthonyhatfull5484 Yeah, very sad story that, he was affected by bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Joe was also a frequent recreational drug user, with his barbiturate abuse further worsening his depressive episodes. Things came to a head when French composer Jean Ledrut accused him of plagiarism, claiming that the melody of "Telstar" had been copied from "La Marche d'Austerlitz", a piece from a score Ledrut had written for the film Austerlitz (1960). The lawsuit meant that Meek didn't receive royalties from the record during his lifetime, and the issue was not resolved in his favour until three weeks after his death in 1967. He shot his landlady first, she owned the building he had his flat & studio in. He was a clever guy but very tempremental & was prone to savage outbursts verbally abusing people. R.I.P Joe.
