Thank you so much for your kind words of support John and I truly enjoyed working with you on this! Your book pick for me was phenomenal and I had such a great time discussing it with someone else that loved it too! Like you always say- that’s what this Talking Story Book Community is all about. Sharing and discussing books with fellow readers! Let me know if you ever want to do this again! It was such a great time and you’re such an easygoing person. It was like having a conversation with a good friend over coffee. You made me feel incredibly safe and comfortable, and I am so glad to have had this opportunity.
Ooooh John, look at you being the perfect literary match maker! I loved hearing Mandi's wonderful insights on this book, it was beautiful to reexperience this story again through her gushing! Now I want to truly re-read it again as well though, such a special book!
I went and followed her right away. Readers like her are some of the people that inspired me to write overall. Readers like her, or you John (and Jakob) are readers writers aspire to write for. Your love for story inspires us all. Mandi reinforces this fact. If I was to highjack your TBR... As odd as it sounds, I would not pick my own book first. I would grab the list of authors in your discord (and yes I am one of them with 'Ruins of Ivy') and I would force that into an advanced TBR. As an indie author I cannot tell you how amazing, but also incredibly difficult to get seen by people like yourself. Please keep reading, keep sharing and follow through with that good will. We authors always need it, because you never know when your comments might turn a bad day around for someone. So keep up the good work please.
@@Talking_Story That is what community is for, sharing. Plus I will have you know that "The Other Valley" arrived this morning so I will start reading it to share along with the community. As for my book... Only read my books (as Forgotten Steel - Book 2 was out August I believe?) if you like cliffhangers. That is my only flaw, I like to keep people on the edge of their seat. Book 3 is ready to launch in January and Book 4 is half way written... Plus you have so many amazing books ahead of mine to read first. So keep the fun going.
Oh gods! I'm reading one physical book, one kindle and one audiobook and sometimes I'm stretched very thin and get this decision paralysis what to read in any given moment of time, To have 12 books on the reading list at the same time is insane. Kudos for such skill! Great video, thanks for nice conversation! Although I won't put this book on my TBR...
My wife and I loved the All the Light We Cannot See series on Netflix, this is definitely and author to check out! What a delightful conversation! I loved the depth and shared enthusiasm for so many books that were listed off as well as the one you all dove into. If I could hijack your TBR, I think I'd suggest Dry Water Paperback by Eric S Nylund. I read that close to when it came out (1997) and loved how the magic was done in that book. How it plays with time and how the MC gained power and control over his abilities was very unique and I don't know of anything to compare it to.
Oh my gosh! Ten to 15 books at a time?! I only can read one at a time. I've toyed with the idea of MAYBE trying two but that thought intimidates me! LOL! Thanks for the video, John!
This was a fun conversation uncle, my friend Alan really enjoyed Cloud Cuckoo Land and recommended this book to me. Also you can hijack my reading list any time!
If I could hijack your TBR, it would be Boudica: Dreaming the Eagle! Now that I am knee deep into book 2, I am reminded how Manda Scott sits at the table with Hobb, GGK & Wurts.
@@Talking_Story The one you mentioned in the video you said was from the 80's so I know I won't have read it. We are close in age but I used to have a very narrow reading taste. It didn't expand until my 40's and now I am trying to catch up what I missed and keep up with new stuff.
