  • Hey!
    We're back wit ha mid season version of my end of year costs. We talk through what I've earned & spent so far as a professional triathlete and if I'm actually making money. This is just to highlight how tough it can be as a professional triathlete, especially if you're going through a season of injury!

    Always find these fascinating Ruth! I never want to look at my costs for training etc even though it's "just a hobby" for me. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for this, super interesting! It really shows how significant sponsorship can be, particularly when injured.

    Hi Ruth (& team),
    Enjoy very much your vid's. I think you are among the top most interesting ppl in Tri IM to follow. Up there with Lionel, & Lucy. - Interesting meaning :
    1. valuable insights & knowledge for serious AG'ers. (and properly newbie pros)
    2. Wide area of - but also focused topics etc. - very well delivered/ explained (high high end production)
    3. very appealing personality - the perfect mix (not to much/ little) of pro, super likable & censer/ authentic/ open.
    - Its a joy following you
    Q:- Do you do any coaching of others/ ager's, up and coming pros etc? It seems that many pros' do this for a few. - but did not seem like it in your Income list.. (If not, - is it simply a choice? perhaps to stay focused on own training etc. / to time consuming or perhaps just not in your area of interest etc.?)
    Keep the good stuff coming
    Henrik

      Thank you! I do some coaching - as I said in the intro I don’t count it in these videos because it’s basically a side job. I coach around 7 people at the moment so certainly isn’t enough to live off just more something I enjoy doing!

    Great insight thankyou ! Given the trips you’ve been on accommodation costs seems low is that because you split accommodation costs with other pro’s/training partners? Good luck for your next race in Spain 🇪🇸

    • @Reastle1
      @Reastle1  2 месяца назад

      Yes - so Spain trip don’t need to pay for accommodation as other half has a house there, Singapore trip was covered by other half through T100 contract money, and Mallorca Ironman paid for it. So accommodation was basically just Nice trip

    That is a lot of money to go through in 6 months of not doing any racing. I suppose that the travel expenses could have been avoided had there not been some saving to chew into, reducing the budget quite a bit. Thank god for savings though 😄

    • @Reastle1
      @Reastle1  2 месяца назад

      Yep - and if I didn’t have savings then obviously would be much more restricted in what I could do - ie Singapore trip wouldn’t have been on the cards.

      @@Reastle1 I hope you get to perform at your best in some races soon so you don't have to spend your savings but can use price money instead.

      Yes Coz coaches the squad a few days a week, is part of the pool hire cost.

    €4500+ on clothing & bike parts… when you have not really been in full training. I also thought you had a cycling clothing sponsor. 3k on bike parts seems expensive

    • @Reastle1
      @Reastle1  2 месяца назад +2

      As I said in the video - half the bike parts cost is the new front end. Unfortunately all bike bits are expensive and I don’t have a tyre sponsor (probably 50% of the rest of the costs). British weather and roads kill most bike parts quickly. Whilst I have a bike clothing sponsor that was only arranged from April, and I still need other kit like run kit, bike shoes, trainers etc.

    U have to pay Jack?
    What kind of support does he do?

    • @Reastle1
      @Reastle1  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes I have to pay Jack - and what I pay him vs what I get is v v good value for me. All the RUclips is all Jack, all my content, a lot of the time he is also a Training partner and he is also a great friend (obviously not paying him for that part!). Given the time he invests into my content I am getting a massive bargain.
