@@rogerstlaurent8704 True. I didn't see a 289 emblem on the Mustang's fenders, making it even less likely that a 2,700 pound car could run a 4,000 lb. Mercury off the road like that.
1. He sure puts that Mustang into first gear a lot. 2. The big Merc could've run that Stang off the road effortlessly. 3. Dune buggies sure are flammable!
With these old cars, the automatic transmission sometimes would not kick down. Maybe due to being underpowered or or going down a hill. You can slam it into 1st or 2nd and get a kick down effect
I think people know about this movie mainly due to the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode more than anything. "Mitchell: Even his name says 'Is that a beer?' "
That dune buggy blowing up reminds me of when Peter and Meg chased this guy who drove a horse and buggy, and the buggy and the horse fell down. The buggy explodes. But the horse gets up, seemingly unhurt... and then exageratingly explodes like that dune buggy like as though he was full of tnt lol
My, what un-handsome fellows! And their mothers dress them funny too ...?!? But I do love that this era of Lincoln Towncar can grow back missing doors ... :-)
@@NorthStarBlue1 Crushed a mans skull with a rock. So yeah. Low-life for sure. I think the great editing here made it about as good as it could, or did ever get.
That Lincoln is the heaviest of all of them. Those old Lincolns weighed in at almost 6000 pounds. The Mustang was about half that. The Lincoln was also one of the longest and widest cars made at the time. The fuel economy on that Lincoln is another story. Power came from a 460 big block V8 engine with gobs of torque.
That Lincoln 😢❤😊 I remember sleeping in the college parking lot in one of those.
Legend has it, that guy's hand is still stuck in the door of that Mustang.
LOL at least they use the same Mustang in the car chase that got all banged up on the dirt road chase

@@mattfarahsmillionmilelexus That is very true but that poor guy with his hand stuck in the door since 1975 i feel bad for the Mustang 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Geez, that HAD to hurt having his hand crushed!
a 1965 Mustang was only 2700 lbs. I doubt it. Mainly metal and steel? I would say it had to be at least 3500 lbs

Was always a fan of Baker, thought he was amazing in Walking Tall, such underated actor. I would like to see this movie from the beginning.
Good old Buford Pusser of Walking Tall
He was good in Fletch and the Cape Fear remake too
Be careful what you ask for. 😈 Search "MST3K Mitchell" here on RUclips.
That mustang has such a great sound . They nailed it with the very first generation!!!!
The guy is trying shift an automatic like it's a manual!
😂 2:10
I always wonder why they do that in movies. Is their target audience the Amish, who won't know any better?

Steve McGarrett used to drive a Mercury like that (his was black) in the old tv series Hawaii Five-0. (1968 - 1980)
"Book 'em Danno" 👮♂️🚔
Neat old lincoln same as my car nice to see it lurching around
The ole 68 turns into a 67 during chase Merc!
Probably means the '68 didn't get wasted. Too good to.
ok how did the door get fixed that fast
A regular DIrty Harry, this guy. Like the deadpan humor in this.
Do they want us to believe that Mustang is a manual lol ?
More like a automatic ratchet shift kit
@@No1Outlaw2023 I don't buy that either.
Thats a ford floor shift nothing unusual. Standard auto shifter.

“ hearts, pounding, veins clogging”……”Mitch-ell”!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I saw the MST3K episode before the movie. Later found the movie on DVD. It’s fun
Man what an awesome mustang. Saw it lose a headlight and then damn it had it back on. Wow! Lol

lol who need a roll cage when it explodes and kills you when it rolls over anyways
2:57 that mustang just healed itself offscreen.
''My My My My Mitchell''
It's funny how..at times during the chase...that '68 Mercury turns into a '67 Mercury.
mst3k classic.
Joel was the best.
This car chase scene is so funny because they are driving so slow and using their turn signals !
Três carros incríveis dirigir essas maravilhas quando morava em NY e nunca senti tanta emoção!🍺🍺🗿🗿
@4:37 The inspiration for Ricky’s Shitmobile?
The MST3K champeen!
Nice practical explosions 9:02 & 9:39!
The dirt road looks like MASH country IMHO
you are right i did look like where MASH was filmed good catch
Close: MASH was shot in the Malibu hills. I know the freeway bits were filmed on the 405 North through Sepulveda Pass, across from the Getty Museum.
Looks like where some CHiPs episodes were filmed
Mitchell wasn't a bad movie....this chase is awesome ...(though the continuity between the Mercury's is off😁)
2:38 was that Telly Savalas in the back of the Lincoln?
Sorry not even close
@@liamclarke5761 Prosopagnosia - had it all my life. I screencapped back of the Lincoln and Savalas, seriously cannot tell em apart!
Martin Balsam
@@jwarehouse1 Face blindness SUCKS. Trust me, you don't want what i've got!
Martin Balsam was on Archie Bunker's Place after he did this movie

Wow. you even got the model correct on the '65 Calais! Great editing too. Was that the notorious Tom Skaret in the last dune buggy?
John Saxon. You're much better at identifying cars than actors.
imdb rating of 2.7 , was it so bad ?
In a word: yes. The film wants you to believe Mitchell is a badass, but for much of the movie he just comes across as a total slob.

JDB! Always a fave!
homeboy was bad ass!!!
Hell yeah!!!
The Mercury changes from a ‘68 to a ‘67 to a ‘68 to a ‘67.
My my my my MITCHELL
Mustang a 6 cylinder.....No front fender badge......Also has 66 hubcaps.
Why is your RUclips channel banner a super pixelated image?
Sad to find Roper escaped Han's island after an epic fight alongside Bruce Lee only to die driving a dune buggy a few years later. 😢
Farol escamoteáveis, muito legal!Que carro é?😘
The 68 has more power than all of them
the chubby blue line
Sx whoops section 😂
Mustang has too much power. Can knock a land yacht off the road
