    As someone who has owned a Continental, a Mustang and a Granada I can tell you this was Hollywood magic lol
    The 460 in the Lincoln was pretty quick for being a huge car and even a 2 barrel 302 Mustang (which in this movie it clearly was not a 302 it sounded like a big block car) would out run a smogged down mid 1970s Ford Granada with relative ease.

      or the chase in No Man's Land (1987) when a Porsche 930 Turbo can't outrun some land yachts like those

    • @AtomicReverend
      @AtomicReverend Год назад +1

      @@cartoonfan959 I have never seen the movie but I did just find a 6-minute clip of a car chase, it's a Lincoln Mark VI (1980ish) and a 1980s TPI Camaro chasing a (turbo?) Porsche 911.
      None of them are exactly spry by modern terms but the Lincoln (with a lackluster preforming 400CI V8) the two sports cars would have walked away from (more like ran away from). I am pretty sure the Camaro would have struggled with the Porsche although at least it could have somewhat hanged since it handled really well for that era and it was known to be pretty fast for what it was. But yes I agree the 911 shouldn't have had a problem getting away.

      @@AtomicReverend that movie is essentially the Fast and the Furious, undercover cop goes undercover into a Porsche car theft gang, gets attracted to the lifestyle and the charismatic bad guy (charlie sheen) and falls in love with his sister , so sound svery familiar
      it's always a thing in Hollywood that a chased car can't get away from something that should be (much) slower

    I can definitely tell the exhaust sounds and lots of tire screeching are recorded sound affects.
    It looks to me like the Mustang had to have had either the 250 V6 or 302 V8 while the Granada had either the 302 or 351. Otherwise, the producers intentionally made the driver or the Mustang go no faster than a certain speed so the Granada could destroy the Mustang.
