Hi Kathleen - I am assuming you want to create your own digitized designs? To do this you would use software to digitize the design then save it onto a USB and then stitch out on the NV880E. I have just bought this machine after previous research. I had red the manual beforehand and watched videos. I must say that yours is by far the best and most helpful. I also watched your video on the magnetic frame. Do you have other videos on in-depth embroidery that could apply to the 880? I have already embroidered with it and it came out beautifully.
Question: is it possible to baste in the hoop with this machine?
Hi @ancavandermeij196 - yes it is possible to baste but only through using software to create a basting stitch. Any videos where embroidery is used would be helpful as it will show you the process of doing the embroidery. Thank you for your lovely feedback!

Great information, thank you. In terms of physical size of the machine and embroidery unit, is it the same as the Brother NV800E? And is the way to attach the hoops the same?
Physical size is slightly bigger with the bigger screen front and the hoops do attach the same way.

Hi, do you know how many thread changes this machine can do? I have an embroidery file which is about 50 changes but I'm not sure if it will allow me to do that many?

Hi Gary I have a Dreamweaver XE which I love but finding issues weight wise lifting to take to classes. How does the weight compare on this new machine please. Also my Dreamweaver does not give me design name so can cause issues if more than one part of a design on the USB. Will this one tell me the design/file name?
Hi Glenda. The NV880E is about 11kgs (machine) and the embroidery unit will be about 4kgs so a lighter machine. This one also only shows images of the files, no file names. The NV880E will definitely be lighter to carry than the Dreamweaver.
hi do you get the usb stick with the machine ?, also are their frames built into the machine so i can do say a heart shape with a message in writing in the centre of it for a memory bear for example . thanks in advance . im also wondering if it is better to buy an embroidery only machine rather than a sewing/embroidery combo machine . what would you say would be the benefits /advantages/disadvantages with one over the other . just to say i have a Brother Sewing Machine already.. I’m looking at finally purchasing this machine after having my eye on it since it came out. I’m a beginner to embroidering and have question. How do we know which designs/files are appliqué designs and what are just stitched designs? I hope I’m making sense 😝
@leighhansen738 This is a great machine with great size hoops. When you purchase designs, they will tell you if they are an applique embroidery file or an embroidery file.

Hi I bought this machine after I saw ur review brand new from Amazon it’s been 4 months and I have not been able to embroider in it as it chews up my fabric so I just left it, took it out to try again today it’s doing the same thing I have used tear away stabiliser but now something new has occurred my needle bar vibrates so I can’t embroider please help! Hi, thank you for taking the time reach out to us. From the issues you've outlined, there could be several reasons this is occuring. They may include how you're hooping your fabric, the type of stabilizer being used and the design being stitched, the type of bobbin, the thread or the type of needle. Embroidery is sort of like baking a cake, the ingredients and method used greatly impact the outcome. If you are located in Australia and you would like further assistance, please call 1800 000 360. Alternatively, you could contact the company you purchased your machine from.
Would you recommend this over the NV180? A little bit confused on what would be the benefits of getting this 880e since the 180 also has stitching.
The benefit of going to the NV880E is the hoop sizes are bigger. We always recommend you get the biggest hoop size you can afford as you will never regret having more choices of design sizes.

This is not possible to answer, it depends on how long you use it. It is not a high consumer of electricity though.

My only hang ups are the hoop size and if I will regret starting with the 10x10 (4x4) as well as if I should choose to invest in an embroidery only machine or a combination. First time buyer here. @artful_dodger1928 You will never regret getting a machine with the larger hoop! If you can afford it, it would be a wise choice especially if you are planning to use it for business purposes.

It does have fonts available to use for names on blazers and pockets. They can be resized to suit your needs.

@lizzhealey8253 The designs are sent only from a Windows formatted computer. The program used is called Brother Design Database Transfer App.

And when i start embroiing my Machine uses the bottom one. The thread from that bobine.
Can you explain why?
Hi @balazs-raulkantor4549 - it sounds like your bobbin thread has no tension on it. You need to check how you have threading your bobbin thread and make sure when you put it in that you put your finger on the bobbin to hold it firm. Pull the thread around the path you have to do and cut the thread off. Retest by doing a block letter A. If you continue to have issues, you may have some lint caught in the bobbincase tension area. If you are unsure, please give us a call and we will be able to help you over the phone (if you are in Australia) 1800 000 360

@keremmarffay No it is only for embroidery designs, its not a sewing machine.
Does the machine tell you when to change the thread colour?
@terribrown3060 Whenever the colours change, the machine stops. You do have the option of sewing the design out as one colour though.

I am unable to access the applique menu. I have the shapes but can't get the stages of embroidering up. Please advise. thanks
Hi Gill, are you talking about the inbuilt patch shapes? Or are you asking about designs you have loaded onto the embroidery machine?

@bielsabas4407 Hi there, the limits are that they have to be digitized well in a digitizing software or bought from a reputable company. The designs also can be no bigger than the embroidery field size that the machine can do.

Why did you have to trim the jump stitches, when you said the machine trims them for you.
Sometimes there are small jump stitches that you may need to trim as there is a size limitation on how small the jump stitch can be when trimming.
What software are you using?
@nicoleanderson1428 - Can I ask are you meaning what software we are getting our designs from? The machine has inbuilt designs that you can use. You can purchase designs online, we have designs available on our website for you to use.

If it is an embroidery style cross stitch, yes you can. Will depend on the file and what you are trying to do as a cross stitch.

The embroidery on both machines are exactly the same. The only difference being the sewing on the NV2700 - the sewing machine is nice to have with the nice features of a larger throat area, scissor function, fonts and many other great added features. Always nice to get an upgrade :)
