I read it too. Shamefully for me, i follow ScottBradleeLovesYa's channel on RUclips and i skipped this video when he submitted and then forgot about it. THIS is what a cover is supposed to be. The key change makes it so much happier than the original, but puddles is a clown, and therefore inherently tragic, but he's got a sensational voice! A beautiful reinterpretation of a brilliant pop song.

wow, an entire year has passed since i watched this first. I still cruise youtube looking for the latest puddles posting and see how much has happened in a year. This group PMJ and Puddles came at a very good time in my life and gave lift to a tough time. Puddles gave me a place to put my sad and also an avenue to see the beauty of that important and necessary emotion. Instead of dwelling on the sad i see how transformation can come through perseverance and process and having the sound of Big Mikes voice gives power to these actions. Thank you Puddles, Scott and all the musicians that made this happen.

When I first heard Royals, I listened to it at least 20 times that first day. I don't need to listen to this version as much because I can feel it in my soul. What a beautiful version that in many ways, especially in musical arrangement, surpasses the original.

I love puddles. What I love about this performance (correct me if I’m wrong) is that while the other covers I’ve seen seem mournful and full of regret, this one seems mocking and filled with displeasure, like a breaking point. It fits his act so well, amazing as always ♥️
Everytime I listen to this performance I am completely blown away but the incredible arrangement and piano playing by Scott Bradlee. The singer is extremely good, despite the occasional off-pitch problems, but it is the piano and its amazing accompanying harmonies that sets this apart. Positively BRILLIANT!!

I found this version 1st about a month ago. I then searched the original. Then others. I always come back to this one. Simply the best. Disagree and you're stupid. Period.

While these guys are great, the Pentatonix cover of Royals is just as good. There is only five of them, and yet they managed to make A Capella sexy again. Not to mention winning The Sing Off Season 3. You should really check them out if you've never seen them before
I checked the Pentatonix version. It's ok, but just like the other 100 that are done in the same fashion. Seen it. What the fuck is the Sing Off? Stop. Don't explain, cause I don't really care. I don't like this song that much even. I was just stating that this the best musical talent compiled, that made a sub par song worth listening to.

I was taking care of dying parents for a few years and got divorced so I fell out of the world for a bit. Music evoked too much emotion in me so I had to shut it out. As I slowly started listening to music again recently, I found you. Better late than never I guess.

Me too I was taking care of my wife to 23 years. She passed last Oct now I can listen to all the music I want. I was watching America has talent and Puddle came on and that got me started
I took care of dying parents in Fl. Had relatives who offered advice but no help. Jeb defunded any state respite so I got exhausted 24/7 and went nuts. But I still had to care for them so I just put one foot in front of another, nuts or not. They passed and I eventually went sane again.

Yeah, I first saw this several years ago and have been a fan of P3 ever since. And then this was the song that Simon buzzed on AGT in 2017 (the man just doesn't like clowns, but it is hard to beat a cute and talented kid when the viewers are the ones voting). I've watched as many versions of this as I can find, and none compare, although Lorde's is second best.
