so the studio actually explained why it wasn't licensed worldwide.
since it's an anime original, with no other media or merch for it, that came beforehand, completely new, it's often seen as a risk by these streaming services since they got no clue if it will be popular.
so the studio didn't feel like they could / couldn't charge big numbers for it to companies like Crunchyroll.
They also said that since it's an anime original, a season 2 will depend on the merch sales.
Who knows, with how popular the show is, they might license it in the future, and will be able to charge more money for it.

This type of higher fps 3D anime style has been used quite a bit already in videogame animations. I've noticed this especially in chinese gacha games (for example Arknights, HI3 and PGR cinematics). I honestly always wondered when it would bleed into the Japanese animation industry, and I'm glad to see GBC being one of the first to use it fully. I hope CGI will continue to be used more as an alternative style rather than the "budget saving" CGI dragons/monsters.

As someone who grew up in the age of torrents it has been incredibly disheartening to see so many embrace streaming instead. I can't get too mad about the legal streaming sites, but the illegal ones are terrible. Torrents are about community; streaming is about making money.

Same here, I've been torrenting ever since my friend showed me how in elementary school nearly 20 years ago. For me, consistency, reliability, and ease of use are all reasons why I still prefer torrenting over streaming 95% of the time. It's way easier to choose the exact subs you want and confirm the audio and video quality of the file with torrents compared to trying to find a decent stream mirror on an illegal streaming site. Plus, the benefits of having the actual video file on your device are self-explanatory.
Honestly, I have an annual subscription to HiDive, but even then I'll torrent some of the shows in their catalog for better subs and because their mobile app still sucks.

      @v-ia 6 месяцев назад +6

you're so lost. streaming is about letting people access media without the hardware for it. it's why we are streaming full videogames with services like geforce now. because people don't have the pcs to run it, just like not all people 10 years ago had a terabyte hdd to save all their anime on. the illegal streaming sites are better than the legal ones because they typically offer more range, better players, no region lock and no altered products due to cultural sensitivity checks (crunchyroll/funimation is effectively unwatchable because of this). streaming is just the grandson of torrenting and it does the same exact thing just less efficient and more focused on the user experience. band focused, not music focused. I think that's his point.
Most music anime focus heavily on just the band *making or practicing* music in some way and are pretty heavily music focused, rather than just the band *living life like a slice of life centred around band music.*
'Hibike! euphonium' and 'anonymous' noise for example; are both amazing anime but both almost solely focus on aspects related to music or music production/practice.
The relationships between characters, for example, rather than focusing on the nuances (the time they spend together completely separate from music and music life) are instead very heavily focused around how it affects the music and performance - to then reflect back on how how it affects the character, rather than the other way around.

I remember back in April when I tried looking for this anime I couldn't find it anywhere. But seeing as 'those sites' had episode 1 available already, I just went ahead. I loved episode 1 but something felt so incredibly off... While the animation, expressions, voice acting, production; all of it was excellent! But the dialogue made no sense..
Obviously that's when I figured it out these weren't official. And unfortunately for the first few episodes, you kinda had no choice but to watch them like this...
Thankfully the production being This Good, made me able to overlook the weird subtitles, since I was able to understand what the characters were saying just by how believable they moved and how convincing their voice acting was. Which I think speaks volumes about this show on its own!
I'm really glad I stuck around for this anime as it has easily been my highlight of the year. And the fact it got this much attention just by word of mouth from fans is another layer to how well it's actually written.

I never really think Orange studio CG is... lets say to my liking (I dare say it's overrated, but that's just me), but GBC totally retains that classic exaggerated expressiveness one comes to expect when watching anime; all the deformation and imperfection that you subconsciously recognize and one will be weirded out when it's gone or neutered in a typical CG anime.
This might be as close as we can realistically get for a TV production to ArcSys' signature 2.5D CG fighting game animations.

Honestly, I am thankful that a real fansub group is taking care of this, and not Crunchyroll. I prefer good subtitles to speed, always, and without fan subs most releases are just in a sad state in this streaming epoch. No subbeed OPs and EDs, on-screen text mostly untranslated, no TL notes, no nothing. And that is even if translation itself is decent. As a long-time anime fan I'm sick of this. Fansubs were better by a long margin instead of what we have right now as a standard. So, good thing for Girls Band Cry.

Also this series is amazing. I am cautious of CGI as much as the next guy, but this is absolutely great animation. All the sequences of the girls playing - as far as I can tell - shows them accurately playing what I'm hearing. This tells me someone gave a shit. And if the people making the show gave a shit, I'm also compelled to give a shit.
The voice acting is... I'm not sure what it is but it sounds much more natural than anything else I've heard recently.

The reason why those anime sites have bad mtl is because those anime have discord servers wherein users can request for animes. And many of the noobs they request the fastest stuff, and what the admin for these anime sites do is that they build a rss feed to their website which automatically updates everytime a bad translation is released.
Worst part is that they dont update them in future even when you asl the sites to do so via their discord server.
