    Buckleguy is great - Just out of stock of everything all the time - and you can't tell what they have in stock until you click all the way through the product to grab it - then the weight of leather or thickness of thread isn't available - So 20 minutes in to shopping for a bunch of stuff they have nothing I can use, and the few things they have that I can use are readily available from other suppliers without the shipping charge and frustration.
    Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

    It’s triply you said that about the wallets. I went around and asked some people if they’d want a wallet for Xmas and the hesitation was enough for me to “welp I’m not doing unless asked”. Now the two simple tote bags I’ve made have been revived a lot better and I’m actually seeing people use them! … and yes someone did as for a wallet 😂

      I just looked at this clog for the first time… and I won’t be able to follow this channel as much as I’d like because they don’t show their faces…it feels uncomfortable…so I understand!
      With regard to anxiety. It is dreadful. I started struggling with anxiety around 6 yrs. ago… and was prescribed all sorts of meds, which gave me side effects or dangerous reactions. I don’t take meds if I can avoid it anyway. I found at the natural health shop a natural capsule called GABA. And another capsule called Anxiety Formula. Both are natural and can be bought over the counter or thru A.az.n
      They have helped me immeasurably.. there are great reviews for each too!
      It’s such an awesome feeling not to have anxiety. Be safe ! 🙏🌟🕊

    I know the feeling of having made a gift no one uses. I have made 2 knifes for friends. One for a buddy who wanted a hunting knife and one for an engineer. So I made fancy pen knife type of thing for the engeneer and a beautiful hunting knife for the hunter. Both sit in drawers. I learned the hard way too. Now I get to see how my brother responds to the leather portfolio/business folder I made for him being a real-estate guy.

    Probably too late for this question to get a response but… how does the Maine thread color hold up over time and wear? I have a bag I made that I use everyday. I used yellow Ritza thread. I noticed that it didn’t take long for the color to fade and it now just looks white in the heavier wear areas. I have used Maine thread before but just in the tan and maybe a blue but it wasn’t a heavy wear type piece so I’m not sure about it’s colorfastness.

  • @junoleatherworks
    @junoleatherworks Год назад +2

    I'd really like to try the Maine Thread but I'm not sure how the Ritza .8 (which is what I use) matches up to the available options in the Maine Thread. Side note, I do currently use a big plastic tackle box to store my supplies to take on our extended camping trips! Love the anniversary wallets.

    • @Staren01
      @Staren01 Год назад +1

      Ritza thread thickness is measured in millimeters. Maine Thread has a great little conversion chart. Their .030” is .76mm
      , and their .035” is .89mm. So there isn't one that is exactly .8mm, but they carry one that is a hair thinner and one that is a hair thicker.

    In all humility: I am aware that you are an expert in the materials technology of all things leather & leather crafting. Please let me introduce myself as someone who, over a period of 60 years, has become knowledgeable in many areas of "materials science". As an avid outdoors man, knifemaker, and Mac Toolman, there are only a few products I am not aware of that rust. Load and carry steel tackle and tool boxes are some of the most rustable products ever made. I'm guessing here, but feel comfortable knowing that you, Mr. Corter, are not an outdoors person. I am saddened to hear that you were the person who recommended to Buckleguy to sell the steel toolboxes to leathercrafters. I will never put any of my expensive, usually non-stainless steel leatherworking tools in a mild steel container. Dissimilar metals, when stored together will begin a galvanic chemical process that guarantees rapid rusting away of those tools. No amount of painting, powdercoating, or even multipart resin/hardner adhesive products will protect those tools being stored in steel containers. Please consider alternative plastic heavy-duty fishing tackleboxes, like the ones made by Plano in Texas. I have kept over 60 pounds of tackle in my 747 model Plano for over 5 decades, without problem. Take it from an old master mechanic and Mac Toolman, you really need to change direction on where you keep your $120 skiving knives, French Edgers and other high carbon steel tools, longterm. Some of your customers and followers won't appreciate the result of having kept their leatherworking tools in unheated garages, in steel toolboxes.

      I see your point.. The design is good. And remember they look cool. Im a 50 year old carpenter. And would stay away from these boxes to0.. The small one that can be stacked i would like..They would look cool in the shop.. Some leather crafters like paying more for tools. Just because they look nice.

    • @Corter
      @Corter  Год назад +8

      I live on a farm and camp on the beach and grew up fishing on Long island Sound, so if that's not outdoorsman enough for you I don't know what to tell ya haha. As I mentioned in the video, you'll want to make cases for your tools if you're going to use a tool box - not because of the whole dissimilar metal thing, but so your tools don't hurt each other. I think comparing tackle to this use case is an extreme long shot, These boxes are made from galvanized steel then powdercoated - it would take years and years for a stitching chisel to sit in the box, untouched, after the coating had been removed, to rust. There really isn't a worry about the whole dissimilar metal thing, especially considering you should 100% have every tool in a leather case or sleeve if you're going to keep them fee floating in a tool box as I mentioned in the video.
      My skiving knives were $23 though, I don't really use expensive tools - I also don't let the blades float around in a tool box, we have a great video on how to make sheathes so you don't hurt yourself on the blade if you want to check it out :)
