It was so wrong for Abby to bring Chloe up and diss her in the middle of nowhere. I mean, it's great Maddie's being homeschooled and all, but if she wasn't, Abby wouldn't be pushing the girls to do it as well. Dance doesn't necessarily come before school. Rather, it shouldn't in most cases - with dance you can get a back injury and suddenly all your career plans get smashed, but an education will never fail you for your career.

If Melissa wants their kids to be homeschooled, good. If the other moms don't want that for their kids, perfect. But if you want your kids to get more private lessons, them pay for it and make time. Maddie did it and is getting better, the other kids don't but they still go to school. You can't have it all and be mad at someone for having things you don't when you enjoy things they also lack of

It should also be noted that an education is just as important as dance. What if Maddie can't dance anymore and she needs a solid career? Nobody will care that she was a "famous dancer once upon a time"; they want to know what education and skills she can bring to a job.
Bloombaby99 she didn’t quit school, she still got an education but if Maddie wanted to pursue her life in dance then that’s her choice and obviously it was a success. She skyrocketed after this.

I was educated at home but my whole life wasn't dance, acting, music videos, public appearances and a reality tv show! Maddie is worn out. She's not being protected, socializing properly, how about just hanging out or playing? One of the main purposes of homeschooling is so you can have a more well rounded life and a great education at the same time.

In my opinion, Maddie is a performer, Chloe is a ballerina, Paige is a model/ actress, Brooke is a contortionist, Nia is a role model and Mackenzie is a singer. I feel like all these things suit the girls especially Paige since she’s literally so pretty and she could easily become like a vs model
You could really tell Maddie was uncomfortable when Abby started talking about Chloe, she was a good friend their mothers and Abby drove a wedge between them.

My mom is also a teacher (specifically English) so my mom pushes me and I am one of her student’s as a middle school student so I guess if Melissa was a teacher maybe just maybe her school instincts would rise from 0 (dance first) to about 100 ( school first ) but I don’t know just my opinion 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

kelly is so right, being a kid and growing up normally is so important for your mental health and social skills. being at that studio for hours and hours would have definitely not been healthy for them.
Maddie takes dance more seriously than the other girls. I dont think any of the moms can complain when maddie gets more attention since Melissa puts her heart and soul into getting the girls ahead
Maddie will be a huge sucsess , She is not even twelve yet yet she still has been on at least 10 talk shows , in a music video with over a 100 million views. And she is the star!

As long as Maddie is happy that is all that matters. homeschool and public both have advantages and disadvantages that even out. Maddie's life is not normal. she's on a tv show and gets plenty of socializing on the bus to competitions and at dance with her friends don't forget! so what if melissa wants Maddie to get ahead? i just saw a musical theatre solo she did 2/8 and it was AMAZING! she's improved

Melissa is supporting her girls "going for it" while the other Mom say out of one side of their mouth they want their kids to be "normal". But at the same time they rag on Melissa and her kids precisely for "going for it" and putting in all the extra time/sweat to do so, That is called DEDICATION!!! When I watch dance moms and Maddie is on the top of the pyramid and all the moms are mad at Melissa, I'm just like it's not her fault that Maddie is a good dancer! The moms shouldn't be taking it out on Melissa of Maddie because it's not Melissa's fault. The moms are like " No surprise, Maddie is at the top... I hate how people get on Maddie for homeschooling! It is obvious she is a very smart girl, intellectually and in many other ways. If the other moms cared about making their girls exceptional dancers, they would homeschool too. They act like dance shouldn't be their life, and for Maddie dance is her life. And what is wrong with that. Nothing.
Claire W when you use the words “exceptional dancer”, can you explain to me what you mean. Because I’m pretty sure they are exceptional dancers without homeschool.
All of the girls that even have a small shot at being on Abby lee millers team HAVE to be exceptional dancers. They wouldn’t be working for Abby if they weren’t. Plus, if someone isn’t homeschooled that doesn’t make them a bad dancer. It just means they don’t spend as much time at the studio as another kid might. It’s the moms choice if she wants to homeschool her child or not. If I were a dancers mom, I would send them to public school so their entire life doesn’t revolve around dancing and they get to interact with other kids that aren’t on their dance team. You saying that dance should be their entire life is just crossing the line. They are allowed to do other things and have other hobbies. You don’t have a say in anything that they want to do with THEIR lives. It’s not up to you. If the want to dance, they are allowed to dance. If they want to do something else, they are allowed to do something else. Maddie had her entire childhood taken away just for dance. A kid should be able to live a good childhood, but Maddie’s childhood consisted of: drama, people hating on a 8 year old girl just because she dances better than her, having a camera everywhere you go so you aren’t left alone, having panic attacks for forgetting a dance, worrying that your teacher will hate you, being the favorite and having the other moms and girls hate you because of abby, always having to memorize a solo every week, having the stress of keeping up etc. I feel like this show just takes away kids childhoods and ruins the way they look at things. Honestly, in my opinion, all kids should have gone to public school. So they can have time away from having to be perfect all the time.

Exactly. If they want their kids to be at the studio more and be more famous and well-liked like Maddie, they should homeschool too. Not sit there and blame melissa. Melissa and maddie want it. They want the fame, so they're willing to sacrifice for it. The other moms aren't but they still want the fame. Ridiculous. Once they signed up to join the show dance should become their whole life. Otherwise don't sign the contract.
I can tell that Abby really treasures Maddie. Not just becuase she's a amazing dancer but that she's extremely passionate, hard working, and determined about dancing. She has all the qualities of a amazing dancer
Fun fact: Melissa actually schedules privates for Maddie to the point where she takes Maddie out of school when recess/break time and bring her to the studio lol

Listen up. HOME SCHOOL IS BETTER THAN PUBLIC SCHOOL. You can learn more cause the home school teacher is catering to you and your mind. There's no distractions like bullies or boy drama or anything. 90% of the aspiring Olympic athletes are home schooled. Tim Tebow was home schooled, many child actors are home schooled or taking classes on the set which are only about 2-4 hours a day. if the child is learning I have no problem with how they are learning;.

With Brooke's injuries, her dance career was coming to an end and Kelly knew it. Which is why she didn't want to homeschool her. Chloe was a really smart and hardworking, straight-A student according to Christi so maybe Chloe didn't want to leave school back then

Brooke got accepted in College and she probably wouldn't have if she had missed school for Dance. This is why Kelly is my favorite mom because she stands up for her kids and wants them to have fun and does it for them and not herself.

After hearing this from both Kelly and Christi they have absolutely no right to be upset about all of the amazing opportunities that Maddie gets with dance over their girls because they clearly don't want it as bad as Maddie. They said it themselves, "I want to be normal. I don't want dance to be my whole life." This is why Maddie is soaring above the rest as far as improvement and staying on top because she dances all day every day. This girl is gonna go so far. You go Maddie! :)

This show makes homeschooling look like a bad thing, I have been homeschooled since 2nd grade and honestly I would have never been the way I am today If I went to regular school. (I'm also not saying regular school is a bad thing either)
What I'm saying is, is that I would have never been doing the things I'm doing right now. Spending alot of time with my family and also myself has helped me. I wouldn't have gotten over my fear of the ocean and I wouldn't be out there surfing. I would have never found my love for horses and wouldn't be taking lessons. spending time with my self has helped my find myself too. If Maddie wants to dance than so be it.
Agree with you 100%. Learning yourself as an individual, and doing productive things you're genuinely interested in, should be first and foremost.

Home school have nothing to do with intelligence. Home school is more focus on the individual needs. If a kid say he or she wants to compete in the Olympics when they grow up he or she will have to train early to be the best of the best.
There are many home school kids attending college before they become 18 years due to the fact there home school lessons is more concentrate on what they want to do.
Also if you look at history many master of a skilled trade started their training as kids and they work and eat and sleep their practice.

The mom's said the other kids get one ballet class a week? Only 45 minutes? They should be getting and hour and a half of ballet everyday. It's the foundation of all technique. I'm glad Maddie's getting private ballet lessons, her turn out is terrible. And did you see her sickled foot in tendu? (I'm not saying in ANY WAY that she's a bad dancer, just that she doesn't have good ballet technique.)

There is nothing wrong with being homeschooled, however, education is more important than dance class. You never know what could happen. What if Maddie gets an injury that won't allow her to dance anymore? What would she do then? You can't rely on dance, you need a backup plan. Education comes first. Dance should be the backup, not the other way around.
hahahahahaha, home schooling does not mean the person won't get an education. Why are so many people so ignorant about home schooling?? Maddie will still get an education, the only difference is she won't be in a classroom rather she will be in her home, hence HOME SCHOOL. Some people think home schooling means the person will not be educated which is totally not true. Maddie will be just fine.

lilly34cute I know. The only reason why Melissa got so much hate for her decision is because she didn't do it for Maddie's education, she did it for Maddie's dance training. That's why a lot of people now disagree with homeschooling, even though homeschool has more advantages than public school.

Let's be real, dancers careers, especially ballet, usually last until early 30s if not sooner. Then what for Maddie? If she's even is still a dancer by then. She's wearing herself out it seems.

you know what Kelly you are doing your kids right by keeping them in school because it really isn't fair but more of all great maddie is dancing more but I'm a dancer also and tbh I'll rather stay in school than be at dance because if I break my legs and never be able to dance ever again at least I'll have my education but it's really sad and disappointing that maddie can't say the same and Abby leave Chloe out of it she did nothing to you because in a interview who's gonna get the job maddie who got homeschooled to dance more or chole who stayed in school

People keep saying "but if Maddie breaks a leg or hurts her back, at least the other girls will have an education. Maddie is getting an education too and it's just as good as the other girls. She will still have an education to fall back on. With homeschooling you can work at your own pace, still get an education and do more of the things you like and can make a career out of. For some people regular school isn't practical but it's still an education

Just because Maddie is homeschooled doesn't mean she doesn't take school seriously. People expect more from kids who are homeschooled. They expect them to get better grades/GPA. So we don't even know how Maddie's grades are compared to Chloe or the other girls but most employers would probably pick the homeschooled kid.
Poor Chloe, but Christi has to understand that Maddie gets the most pressure out of all the girls.

Maddie is really dedicated to dance and loves it so she is homeschooled so she can get more privates and dance mor, whats the big fucking deal??? Why should the other moms care??? Besides, some of the moms like christi really are unbelievably jealous of maddie because she wins all the time. It's always some lame excuse like the choreography why her kid does't win, but the truth is, maddie wins because she is better. And as melissa said, if the moms want their kids to get more privates, then homeschool them as well!

It is not Maddie or Melissa's fault that Abby rubs it in Christie's face. Also, Christie is nasty as hell to Melissa for no reason. So WHAT if she wants her daughter to be home schooled. Christie is just upset that Chloe is getting worse and Maddie is getting better. Christie is FAR too focused on Maddie...it's disgusting. She needs to focus on what she wants to do.
I agree, but it's not to just get Maddie to be the best in the studio, it's to make her a professional. Maddie is already auditioning for commercials, TV shows, movies, and Broadway plays. She has been getting lots of call backs, and has already done a sketchers commercial. The difference between Maddie and the other girls, is that Maddie plans to do dance for the rest of her life.
What Melissa is doing is the same basic goal of any other parent. She wants her child to succeed in life. Many of the thing learned in school end up forgotten. What you really need is just the basics needed for what you want to do with your life. For her, dance instruction is the most important thing. For me, I would like to things like Cirque du Soleil and teacher. So, I need to know how to run a business and the many aspects of baton twirling and other novelties. I still choose to take a lot of courses at PA cyber.

Okay but like, this is really when Maddie started getting really good. I mean, she was good before, but after she started homeschooling, she surpassed the others in technique and musicality

She has one ballet *private* a week. She also takes group classes.
No one is saying home schooling is bad. It is actually really good since kids get the teachers full attention so they learn quicker. The problem here is that Maddies life isn't normal like other home schooled kids. When she isn't homeschooling she's at dance 24/7, whereas the other girls use their time in school to hang with friends and they have something normal in their lives. Tbh Melissa and Abby keep saying Maddie is happy but everytime we see her she doesn't seem too happy. I think I once remember her saying school is her normal part of her life. I just hope Maddie truly is happy, because at the end of the day this is her life, not Melissa or Abbys

Honestly I still think that Chloe is the better ballerina. Maddie is best at lyrical and contemporary dance but Chloe will always be the ballerina type no matter how many ballet privates Maddie gets
I don’t get why they’re giving Melissa a hard time. If Melissa wants her kids to homeschool, that is her choice. “It’s not an even playing field.” You’re right! You are 1000% right. It isn’t. That’s the beauty about life. No two people live the exact same life. No two people are given the exact same chances. That’s why you’re taught to take what you have in life. You can either work hard and make something of it, or whine and complain about what everybody else has.
School should come first, not only for learning! School also helps kids have a social life, be able to learn how to adapt and be able to speak to anyone in ur way. They forgot about social life, what if ur kid grew up to be anti-sociable?

LOVE how they all got on Melissas case for homeschooling her kids only to turn around and do the same for theirs. The same way they get mad at her for paying for privates. She does things for her kids they could easily do themselves and they ended up doing the same things AFTER attacking her all while trying to convince themselves that it’s not jealousy 😭
I have to say Chloe and Maddie are two very different dancers. Given their physical and facial differences Maddie is more of the actress. She has the great gift of being able to show emotions beautifully on stage. She has the ability to really tell stories with her face and body. Where Chloe is more of the ballerina. She has beautiful long delicate features. She has very graceful features and is in a way more dramatic. This is why I think they shouldn't have been 'rivals' they are both so beautiful and unique on their own special ways. It's really what you prefer that puts them to first and second. I believe the reason why Abby praised Maddie more is because she preferred Maddie's style to Chloe's it's really a shame that Chloe didn't join a actual ballet school. She may have grown as more of the dancer then she is now.
School comes first, but at Maddie’s level she should be doing ballet more than ones a week. Also the moms can’t blame Mellisa for what Abby dose

i really understand melissa in this video because it’s a different family and maddie being homeschooled really is giving her a leg up and if the other moms wanted to give their kids legs up then they would. so for the moms to say it’s not fair that maddie’s homeschooled, well that’s not maddie’s fault.
I've always felt bad for Melissa because the mothers take their anger out on what Abby does and blames her
why do the moms even care??? All they do is Judge and its sick... Maddie wants to dance when she grows up so she needs to focus on that, not saying she cant go to school and have good grades but all the other girls dont want to spend their life in dance and thats why Abby spends more time with her becasue she knows that Maddie wants it more then the other girls. If a fan that watches dance moms says that they all want to work as hard the same way then they are lying. Every single one of those girls are talented at dancing but Maddie is working so hard to get to the tops of the Dance level because this is what she wants to do when she grows up. If maybe Chloe wanted to go into all dance all the time when she grows up then i am 100% positive Abby would give the exact attention to Chloe. And that is just sad because they all are working hard but abby knows that Maddie wants it.

Chloe lost her passion so, chloe never got back to the level she used to have in season 1-2, Maddie got better whith the time and chloe worse..

homeschooling does have some benefits, BUT in reality, unless you are on something like dance moms, making money dancing on a tv show and are famous, unless you are doing that, then school should always come first, education is important, what if they suddenly break a leg and can't dance? they should still focus on getting an education and work on setting college as a goal.
There are loads of very successful people who homeschooled as a kid, so I have no idea what you're talking about :)
well now Maddie has a book, movie, a starred in vidoes. MacKenzie is making music and doing a bunch of little things that are really adding up. plus both have been on TV shows and have big RUclips channels. plus the whole MacKenzie Annie Hayden thing really helped get her name out there they are doing great things because of home schooling.

I don't see why people are judging Melissa for pulling her children from public school to focus more on dance. Maddie has a very good chance at becoming a professional dancer so she should focus more on dance. It just depends on the child.
