      No. There was a little trouble because of the dinner Sylvia was invited to. Niles said that, because Margaret didn't speak with her father and Sylvia didn't speak with Fran, Maxwell and Sylvia were the only people at the table to communicate. So Maxwell talked CC into joining them by telling her that Sylvia was impressed by CC's beautiful hands and would like to know where she has her hands manicured. And Niles was impressed by Maxwell's lie to CC...

      @@maddiewhatever441 do you realize the chemicals that are used to process animals' dead skin, body, fur, scales are the biggest threat to the environment even before polyester... It's cancerous as well, and it processed by children in developing countries, just so you can sport the skin, hair, fur, bodies, scales of a murdered sentient being. Wear cactus leather instead if you don't support polyester or PU.

    • @maddiewhatever441
      @maddiewhatever441 3 года назад +41

      @@maribeljraige9860 Literally that's not what I said at all, and because of the implications you had in your comment I'm about to really get into this. You actually crossed into my realm of knowledge, which is hard to do.
      The leather from the leather artisans I've met harvest their leather and sell their own leather products. Native Americans do the same. These items literally are biodegradable. The "chemicals" used are natural, and that's why handmade artisn leather crafts (or fur) cost so much. They use old techniques that don't involve the things you speak of. These items last longer, will fall apart if not kept up, and are actually INCREDIBLY good for the planet, but because you think people kill animals only for their fur or leather, you don't understand the bigger picture.
      We have access to tons and tons of leather, fur, and other animal products from the meat industry and hunting alone. You know what's wasteful? Letting these valuable materials be replaced by plastic. Sure, your cactus leather is fun, but you're literally adding more waste to an already wasteful world. It is not a solution to this problem that I was talking about. Now if you're a vegan, fine, your argument makes sense from your point of view, but I would think that anyone who understands basic conservation would know why using every part of an animal is beneficial to our world.
      I also would like to point out that your children making things argument is invalid. Everything we use is made by kids, and you're actually fairly wrong about the leather statement. People don't buy leather from developing countries. They buy it from expensive places in Europe, or they buy local/make it themselves. They may buy the skin, but not leather. That's a quality control issue and since leather is considered a luxury good/reliable, it has to be up to standard. Whilst the industry is still corrupt, if you're going to spew a redirect to me, get it right.
      To add to this, cotton is literally a bigger problem then the leather industry rn. The pesticides used, the deforestation , and run off have been destroying local ecosystems for years. Yet, cotton is one of the easiest things to source in your local department store. Sewing supply stores carry bolts of non organic cotton, and no leather at all. So tell me, which marterial is worse for the environment? The one that lasts with upkeep and by being used is being kept out of the landfill? Or something that is easily destroyed and has a negative impact on the land?
      To sum up my first comment once more; Native Americans have been practicing the process of using everything from an animal for centuries. Being wasteful is bad for the planet, and by using something that won't last more then a year or throwing away good materials because your feelings are hurt, you're damaging the planet. I don't support mindlessly killing animals for their skin/fur. I do support these things being used if an animal is originally slaughtered for meat.
      I'll tell my three rabbits you thought I wanted to kill them though.

      @maddiewhatever441 3 года назад +23

      @@maribeljraige9860 Isn't it funny that I'm actually apart of this industry. That I actually know what's happening inside and what the issues of the world are regarding this topic, and you're still trying to convince me otherwise?
      I don't care you are vegan. I can applaud you for finding a lifestyle that works for you, but I will not stand for superiority. The skin in Europe does come from other sources, but there is rarely any chemicals used to preserve said skin before the treatment process starts. And the chemicals that are used are no diferent then what is used on everything else. The only difference is that leather lasts longer then plastic. As someone who claims to be ethical, the first thing that would be on my mind is less waste, not more.
      I just said this was a quality concern issue. There are legit documentaries about the leather industry in Italy and how despite being considered a luxury good, the workers are under paid and the work conditions are dangerous. This is why I say the business is corrupt. Yeah, there probably is some shady dealings with leather on a smaller scale, but I fail to see how you can just lump all Europe in one bag and say "this is shit"
      And here we go again with you putting words in my mouth! I never said we should rely on the meat industry to be sustainable. I said when we kill something, we should use everything there. If a hunter shoots a deer, I believe that deer should be used for meat, skin, bone meal, and whatever else is possible so that deers body does not go to waste. I didn't say let's rely on the meat industry and have everyone wear assless leather chaps and eat ribs daily. Based upon the tons of waste that the meat industry produces, I believe we could actually make something sustainable.
      Again, I find your logic of personal beliefs lacking. Humans are animals. We're intelligent, that's clear by this conversation, but we're still animals. According to your logic, that shouldn't make us better then them, but they don't really give a fucl about our morals. Dolphins literally torture pufferfish for entertainment. These mammals are incredibly smart, so smart we can have some sort of basic communication with them, but they're sadistic assholes. Monkeys in times of plentiful food will adopt smaller animals they usually kill and possibly eat. My lovely rabbits would eat me if I died (or if I was alive tbh. They're assholes too.). By saying we can't determine whose life is worth more, you put us on an equal playing field. If you say we have to act better then them, you don't. Which is it? That rhetorical. I don't really care.
      I also said I don't support killing animals solely for their fur or leather but hey, that's chill.
      Also thanks for glossing over the fact where I talk about small businesses that actually, without a doubt, do things ethically and in many cases, traditionally. I'd love to see you go tell struggling Native Americans they can't sell leather and fur wears they've made to keep their ancient arts alive. Also would be funny for you to tell the guys who make leather boots for work or leather items for tools that their specialization and craft was unethical. Funny how that stuff lasts a while and is high quality, but plastic lasts forever and fucking falls apart.
      I'm done here. I would have been interested in cactus leather because it sounds cool, but tbh having someone put words in my mouth is not appealing. Way to recruit for the cause. My bunnies and I will go enjoy some kale now 😋
