I have been driving my 2019 chevy Volt for 2 years (60k miles so far). It is. superb commuter vehicle. This summer I took it west, pulled a small camper and loaded car with gear and 2 dogs. I put 5k miles & averaged 40mpg overall. I only recharged the battery twice the entire trip due to the time it would take to charge (I camped in remote locations) To me plug-in hybrids with minimum 50 miles range on electric are excellent fuel savers. (I spent under $500 on gas for the 5k miles).
I laugh at the people sitting for hours at the charging stations . They wont let you charge up during peak demand cause the electricity cost more. What a scam. TIP of the day if you smell something burning get the hell out quick cause they go up in flames very fast.

That's a combination of 25% truth and 75% misleading exaggeration/made-up stuff.
