Arsenal had one of the best scouting system even after David Dein. I feel that has been neglected as well especially since 2016 onwards.

He was good at his job but equally he is the traitor that brought in the Kronke’s to Arsenal. Without him they would’ve never bought shares at Arsenal

Either way, Arsenal have always loved dragging their feet in the window. We'll be lucky if these guys even bring in anyone

Its not true to assume the targets would have been the same if Edu hadnt essentially walked away from Arsenal. If he had stayed and continued to work for the duration of his contract instead of being on "gardening leave" he would have spent a couple of months scouring the world looking at potential striker targets and using the book of contacts he has gained during his time working at Arsenal and Brazil to ascertain who really could be available. If not, then whats the point in having a full time sporting director if he basically only works for certain months of the year?

Think you have it wrong, Edu didn’t perform last transfer window, so got fired simple, he was given a list of targets and did not deliver, don’t believe what is said about, him leaving for Notts Forest, I think he was sacked because the last window was poor.

Not really! Its a January window, the players Arsenal need particularly a number 9 isnt availble to leave current squads due to their own end of season goals and UCL.
Nwarni is back, Nelson recalled, Saka be back in a vital moment of season.
Striker yes we need but who will leave right now and fit in to pur style of play. Newcastle wont sell isak and sesko agreed for summer with zubamendi.

I blame this mess 80% on Edu anyway. The summer transfer window deserved a sacking as that's his primary job. He knew Jesus and Havertz weren't the answer for 2 seasons now. Edu wasn't this messiah that could bring in players and now we're screwed. The club will carry on. We're paying the price for his inadequacy in this window.

Not at all. Edu was involved in the summer transfer and still failed to sign a striker. They signed Calafiori and Merino. Let's not forget that Edu was also part of the team that signed Kai Havertz instead of a proper striker

  • @michaelvickers2494
    @michaelvickers2494 8 дней назад

They have and probably will do nothing this window. They are always poor in the transfer windows.
Before this season started we needed to sign a 1st choice striker, a decent right wing cover player for Saka and possibly a back up number 10 ...none were signed! So there is 3 we were short already before it started.
We now are losing Tierney, jorginho and Partey for free in the summer....so thats 3 more to replace.
The club are now looking to sell Zinchinko this window and are happy to listen to offers for Kiwior as well? Why...they arent world beaters but our squad is already bare thin and they willing to sell more players before they buy???? We have a team full of injury prone players currently and they want to sell more plagers?? Its crazy.
We then have Sterling and Neto going back to their parent clubs at the end of the season....
Let all that sink in people....thats 3 we already needed and 7 we need to replace.....THATS 10 PLAYERS, plus several others staying are always injured.
That simply isnt going to happen in the summer where we buy replacements for 7 players plus the 3 we already needed. We havent bought 1 player yet this window.
STAND BY ARSENAL FANS COZ NEXT SEASON IS GOING TO BE A REAL EYE OPENER REGARDING THE SQUAD.

No, Arteta's lack of major trophy has impacted Arsenal's January transfer this season. If Arteta won EPL or Europa League in the previous season, Kroenke would likely have released more funds in the winter transfer window

Edu left because he really didn't want to sign Kai from Chelsea, he wanted to get in a proper striker but Arteta was adamant that Kai was the missing piece. After analysing him a few games and having had meetings with Arteta on a numerous occasions to convince Arteta that Kai is not the main man though he is not bad at all and they need to bring in a top striker and Arteta was still adamant on Kai, Edu decided is better to move elsewhere since they were not agreeing on the way forward😢
