    After a long drive in highways, its always advisable to cool off the turbo engine atleast for 1.5-2 mins.. Do not switch off the engine immediately..City drive mostly it's not required as we have frequent stops and drive only in lesser rpm's but its always better to wait for few secs before turning off the engine...

      You are correct, turbo charged engines shudnt be stopped abruptly after a high rpm drive. The reason is, the very hot turbos are being cooled by circulating engine oil, if the engine is turned off abruptly, the oil near the turbo might stop circulating and remain exposed to high temp. Of turbo compared to the oil in d rest of the loop.
      So kindly after comming to a stop let the engine run for few minutes at idle so that the oil has enough time to cool down the turbo.

    Mr.Birla I think in the middle of the video u explained better than that guy... He doesn't know even the parts name of the turbocharger... He can't explain how power will get increased when compared with naturally asperated engine... He might be a good mechanic who can repair the parts but he doesn't know completely about the topic...
    1. Mostly turbo fails due to improper lubrication of the bearings which will be inside the turbo housing.
    2. In a non turbo engine we can increase the amount of fuel injected into the engine by varying the size of the fuel pump but we cannot increase the amount of air intake to engine since its almost fixed. So they introduced turbo so that without increasing the size of the engine more amount of fuel and also air can be forcefully admitted into the engine by turbocharger and hence we get more power.
    3. Size of the turbo depends on the no of cylinder, it's bore and it's stroke length so we shouldn't change the makers turbo which will lead to turbo failure or sometimes engine failure also...
    3. He mentioned that turbo rpm is 6000... Actually when the engine is in idle condition, the turbo rpm will be more than 10000 and when engine rpm increases then turbo rpm will be as high as more than 1 lakh....

      That is the difference…normal mechanics will know what is needed to make it work but will not be able to explain why or the reason behind because of the lack of the proper technical training. They work by experience from their previous senior mechanics.

  • @rajaramanrameshkumar
    @rajaramanrameshkumar 2 года назад +13

    Just to clarify one point here. When you were referring to exhaust its actually meant air intake. In simple layman terms turbo makes it possible to boost the air intake by way of a compressor pump. In Naturally aspirated engine the air intake is happening because of the suction created by the engine itself and there is no external push of air. Since there is one more additional moving part that too rotating at a very high speed to create required air pressure, it needs adequate oil supply and a clog-free air supply. That is what our Balaji Bro is insisting that we should replace the oil at regular intervals along with oil filter replacement and also replace the air filter periodically so that the turbo gets a clean oil and adequate air which will increase the life of the turbo charger. Awesome explanation and now we do understand the importance of maintaining the turbo and we can bust the myth that turbo causes problems.

    Turbo is a bliss compared to naturally aspirated configuration. I am not sidelining NA engines but turbo is the soul of every enthusiast car. A turbo in car is the same as an aircraft engine only smaller in size. As aircrafts need to take off on short runways, they need instant boost of power and it's not very different in the case of cars and trucks. Just different fuels and different RPMs. Turbos force-induce air into the combustion chamber to create oxygen-rich environment. More oxygen results in bigger explosion/combustion. This is how turbo boosts power so cars are quicker off the starting line. But then all turbos are not the same and the performance varies between car makes. Garett is one of my personal favorites and it comes factory installed in ford cars. They are well made and last a long time if pampered well. Love the sweet whistle and addictive torque spread across the rev range. But most folks have poor knowledge of how turbos work and how to maintain them. All they know is turbo= power, which is not wrong but there is more to that. This is why buying used diesel cars are tricky. Unless you know how the car was used and its maintenance history, it's difficult to tell if turbos are worn or near end of life. With a machinery operating at tolerances and often at unimaginable RPM (around 15000~30000), there is a specific way in which a turbo should be maintained. First is regular oil change and second is usage habits like idling 40 seconds after a cold start and then repeating it after after a long drive. As turbo RPMs are high, even a brief moment of dry running will accelerate wear in the spindle and bearings. This is how play develops until catastrophic failure occurs.

    Surely I will gave 5 star rating for his effort.
    Actually I have an 13 years old Ford fiesta car. I purchased this one last year. I noticed the black smoke in recent days. Local mechanics are not suggesting for the turbo, injector and fuel pump service. Recently a mild leakage identified in turbo joints. Ford service center has given only to change the entire turbo. So I contacted Venkateshwara fuel pump service owner in last week. I explained the problem cause and send the picture in WhatsApp. He assured that issue will be sorted with service or one part change in turbo.
    He had a skilled team on the service and he suggested the mechanics for parts disassembly and assembly purpose. Those people's also a fine tuned team, dedicatedly taking care of the process. Since I came from my native and next day I have other priorities I need to complete the service in one day. I told to service the turbo, injectors, fuel pump and cleaning the egr valve.
    They prioritized to me for the service and gave the spares by on time they mentioned. They started to assemble the parts at 4PM and spend up to 11:30 PM and do their work without any objection. whole day I saw their effort and challenges on this work. I am very much thankful to the team. I am very much satisfied with their work.

    Hi ! I am mech engineer...how turbo gives power? -answer- when we say 1000cc (1 litre):engine or 1300cc (1.3 litre) engine - it means engine can suck so much air ( 1litre or 1.3 litre) . We can burn only so much fuel as much air is inside the engine at every stroke. Turbo helps these engines suck more air than its capacity by compressing air...so now they can burn more air and so more fuel and so more power...hope it's clear

    • @pilliyarvenkatesan3372
      @pilliyarvenkatesan3372 8 месяцев назад +1

      So now 1 litre engine with turbo can suck 1.3 litre air with help of turbo and so we get 1.3 litre engine power from 1 litre engine using turbo ..

Otherwise the carbon deposit and soot will damage the engine with bore/stroke problem as the last step. Had a problem in my Ritz VDI and found out the hard way 😭. For this reason NA engine is still safer.

    Which is best to buy Turbo or Normal engine in which we will hve life

      There is no connection between engine... It's with performance if you're a normal driver who never drives aggressive has lot of patience in over taking. You can go for non turbo varient.
      If you want a peppy drive and you want your engine to respond every aggressive accelerator press then turbo is the right choice
