If this was supposed to be aimed at children who cannot write a number 1, that joke would be lost on them and probably would make the whole business of drawing a small vertical line a lot more confusing
Just spent the last 15 minutes googling "Spanish counting mouse" trying to remember what this show was called. Turns out he was a Mexican gerbil but found it eventually!
I typed 'Spanish mouse numbers' and somebody had asked the question on a student website, which got a lots of responses of simply..."el nombreeeeee!" It actually sprung to mind because my G/F did a face that reminded me of Juan haha
In the next series Juan is learning Japanese. "oh mama I am so sad because I cannot write the kanji character for water ... who will help me?" Cue tumbleweed.
Why am I watching this??? Where the heck is the teacher?? Why can't Juan just ask El Nombre to teach him all the numbers at once. I feel so bad for El Nombre, he has to keep swinging back and forth. And don't get me started on the #2 episode my mind was in the gutter - how to do two 😂😂😂 I will shut up now.
Oh, I remember this, I used to watch this at my Grandma and Granddads house, they had all the tapes like Teletubbies, Postman Pat, Noddy, Oakie Doke and The Tweenies.
I remember this show about catching a bandit who stole watermelon and cheated in egg and spoon races. The catch line "I do not know what to do, but I know someone who does!" was in every episode. Maybe I mixed something up, because I don't remember the number thing at all
When I started learning Spanish it took me ages to realise that El Nombre actually translates at 'The Name'. If this was linguistically accurate he should have been called El Numero. 😂
Like Bob and Doug McKenzie on SCTV, Pinky and the Brain on Animaniacs, Good Burger on Nickelodeon's All That and various skits on Saturday Night Live (eg. The Blues Brothers and Wayne's World), El Nombre's sketch was so popular on Number Time, that in 2001, he got his own spin-off.
Why did they need El Nombre when there's a perfectly good town clock with the numbers 1-12 on it? Who the hell managed to write those if everyone's so innumerate. Yeah that's right I came here from the Yogs civ game.
"Sir, I've found a problem, nombre is french, not Spanish! We've misnamed one of our characters and it's translated Spanish names make no real sense in context!" "tsssh, whatevs these kids don't even know how to write numbers, they ain't going to notice that" *put on sunglasses and scooters away* ^ 100% historically accurate conversation on the creation of 'el nombre'
Oh, the good old days when cartoons were animated lovingly instead of typical, common cgi. Back when shows for young children were entertaining for everyone to watch and not dumbed-down like they are now. Back when all TV was TV gold. Those were good days.
as much as i agree with you i swear this show was animated once and it just has diffrent dialouge for counting. XD but yeah animations back in the 90s and earlier where good.
"And it's a good one, Juan! Just make sure it's not your last one, Juan!" I bet they were patting themselves on the back with that one. Juan.
Genius
If this was supposed to be aimed at children who cannot write a number 1, that joke would be lost on them and probably would make the whole business of drawing a small vertical line a lot more confusing

You never know what will happen in the next episode!
Just spent the last 15 minutes googling "Spanish counting mouse" trying to remember what this show was called. Turns out he was a Mexican gerbil but found it eventually!
15 minutes isn't too bad, I've been looking for this show for ages! I take my hat off to you, superior googler.
Rach2625 I kept getting speedy gonzales
same, I've been looking for this show since I was a child, all I remembered was the queen of hearts haha
Same aha. But took me a good half an hour. I was putting Spanish bandit mouse.
I typed 'Spanish mouse numbers' and somebody had asked the question on a student website, which got a lots of responses of simply..."el nombreeeeee!" It actually sprung to mind because my G/F did a face that reminded me of Juan haha
The amount of money they saved by reusing the same animation for each episode and just changing audio and number 😂
What are you talking about. This is a documentary
@@LOCKEYJ 😂😂 mea culpa
Dude the best teacher I had as a child
"You cannot draw a one, Juan??" oh I watched this 18 years ago in primary school...I feel so old
My eight year old brother still has to watch it at his primary school
I watched this 28 years ago 😂
I remember actually watching this at school lessons in like 1994 lol
Surprisingly I watched it in the early 2010’s in school
Whenever I was ill and had to take time off school, I used to watch this along with other programmes :-) Ah nostalgia
I have loads of these on an old VHS. Just brilliant! I used to rush home from work just to watch this!
Core memory unlocked when my coworker said “adios” and I responded, automatically of course with “amigos and keep smiling!” 😂
I remember reading two books in the early 2000’s not realising it was an actual show. Rush of memories when I discovered this.
This would make a fantastic drinking game. After every "Olé!" or "Juan!"
My 6cyear old said he been watching this at school today, wow brings back so many memories.
Ah this brings back so much memories of the kids shows i watched when i was younger.
I have been looking for this for days now. Thanks for the upload! Nostalgia for me and my sis!
In the next series Juan is learning Japanese. "oh mama I am so sad because I cannot write the kanji character for water ... who will help me?"
Cue tumbleweed.
Tumbleweed:
Watashi wa dekimasu!
If your own mother cannot draw a number 7 then that's concerning.
This is nostalgia at its finest.
Thanks for sharing them all and for putting them in such high quality presentation!
I vaguely remember watching this when I was at school
Oh my me and my sisters watched this every morning growing up. 😂

@@RedEyedHawk1 such a prompt response, can I just say you've really come a long way in the 9 years since this exam. Kudos to you.
Omg this is epic!
I refuse to believe each one of these was the same animation. I remember them being all different as a kid 😂
This brings me back
"Oh mama, I can't write the number Infinity"
El Nombre: "Fuck this, Fuck you...GO TO SCHOOL!"
What I used to watch when I was 'off sick' from school
I feel so old! My childhood right here
I used to think el nombre was cool now he's a comedian lol...........this brings back memories
I remember this show about catching a bandit who stole watermelon and cheated in egg and spoon races. The catch line "I do not know what to do, but I know someone who does!" was in every episode. Maybe I mixed something up, because I don't remember the number thing at all
Your thinking of the spin off TV series, this is what El Nombre originally started off in, as part of the educational show Numbertime
my favourite act.
Childhood memories
I remember watching this when I was in reception (5 years old) so good :')
Wow. I really didn't see episode 11 coming.
They mixed it up a bit, I was just starting to notice a pattern
Me and my mum still talk about El Nombre and number time. We still sing the songs at each other lmao
Miss this show so much

Literally looked this up for this reason 😭😂
I love the Number 8 Rhyme.
El Nombre: It's never to late to draw an Eight.
Me favourite I remember this when I was a little boy 🇬🇧
Oh dear, little Juan!
Why are you crying?
"Say the line, El Nombre"
"I can!!"
"Yaaaaay!!!!!"
This show was my childhood.
My teachers had DVDs with loads of these 90% of my reception years 😆
No way! havent seen this in like a decade
Will Little Juan be able to draw a number? ... find out NEXT TIME on El Nombre Z
As well as El Nombre himself who are the other characters. I really used to love this.
It feels like its set in Mexico but also the middle east.
"BBC Prime" - indeed, it was.
I used to watch with my son and ex wife.
It was very good .
How come the Mexican Neiborhood gasp every time El Nombre appears.
This is the reason i have dyscalculia

Showed this to my Mexican girlfriend, she cried and said it was just like being at home
I use to think it said and 'André dashing through the desert sand and Andrrreeee' lol
i remember this really well, although i forgot what show it was from
Numero means number in Spanish. 'el nombre' means 'the name'. Strangely, his name is literally 'the name'.
NewLeftFun Nombre is number in French; perhaps in the pre-google translate era the writers got confused
"Sir, I've found a problem, nombre is french, not Spanish! We've misnamed one of our characters and it's translated Spanish names make no real sense in context!"
"tsssh, whatevs these kids don't even know how to write numbers, they ain't going to notice that" *put on sunglasses and scooters away*

He probably doesn't have a name. So El Nombre is Anonymous. He is Legion. He does not forget. He does not forgive.
@@peeblespebbles5689 In French, it would be "LE nombre". Spanish equivalent: El Numero.
Christ this takes me back to class one/reception back at St James primary school
why are you crying big smoke?
I cant order a number 9
When you got suspended from school And watched daytime tv 📺 #Memories
This was before the BBC started showing endless repeats of people with antiques on BBC2 and the CBBC channel actually showed education programmes.
I have interesting fact that his name doesn’t mean the number and it does really mean the name in spanish.
Not seen this for 15 years lol
I like the Mexican Music of El Nombre very Quirky

also can someone tell me the name of this book company?
So they finally got a bit more clever with the writing and then just quit the show?
