yeah, if it was an isolated incident you could argue it was a mistake.. But the way he blocked before clearly shows it must have been deliberate.
Jamie Evans2 was an appalling driver and even worse Sportsman, no clue how Motor racing works and Track etiquette is meant to play out.
I dont disagree at all. Im new to motorsports and soon to be new to iRacing... Short of just not being a dickhead like Evans, how does one learn the etiquette?
@@danielbarker9003 Watching videos like this is a good way of doing it. A lot of the etiquette comes from the rules of real-life racing. If you view yourself as a racer, even in Sim Racing, you should apply the same rules to the way you race in a sim that you'd apply in real-life racing. Aggressively weaving across the track to block other drivers from attempting an overtake is a big no-no in real-life racing as it can cause huge accidents. In games, it can "only" piss off the other drivers and ruin their race if you manage to force them off, but if you don't want to be seen as a dick, don't do it.
But the long and short of it is to watch as many Sim Racing vids as you can. I've only got Assetto Corsa (the original, not ACC) at the moment. Can't get into it in a big way until I can scrape enough cash together to build my own sim rig. But, even there where players do try to avoid being dicks, you do get some right twats - like the guy bombing around Monza in the wrong direction a few months back, deliberately trying to take other drivers out because he "was bored". He admitted it in chat.
So much more enjoyable to watch seeing your POV! Nice race Dave
Everyone makes mistakes and we have to accept that, an apology is always welcome of course. We will never be able to remove mistakes and stupidity but we can remove bad drivers. Blocking and intentional wreaking is against the sporting code, I hope you did protest him otherwise you become part of the problem. BTW good race and nice overtake in the chicken.

I always love these POV videos! I was wondering though, you had a 49 inch screen that you said was better than your old triple screens, so I was wondering why you switched back. I’m currently torn right now as how to best upgrade from my current 1080 60 FPS triple setup. Great work as always Dave!
I can't speak for Dave, specifically. But, generally, the single ultrawide is a good compromise if you're doing more than sims - like editing videos for RUclips. But nothing beats triples in a wrap-around setup (unless you start talking VR...) for dedicated sim duty. I seem to recall Dave mentioning this in one of his previous videos but I don't want to put those specific words into his mouth.

I might do a triple 27” curved setup since I can’t find a high refresh rate curved TV I have a 27” curved acer nitro 1440p 165hz, I could get 2 27” Oon 1440p 165hz curved monitors for $418usd and I would have my side monitors

Same but 20.7 here, felt like flying, but watching Dave now I see he is WAAAAAYYYYY smoother, particulary in the braking, think its time to get a load cell pedal set as there’s so much I can do with the t3pha pedal set without getting any feedback.

Last week Jamie wrecked me at first lap when I was P2 :) He did it intentionally so I sent videos with the protest but they wanted the replay file too to make a decision. So nothing came out of it and he continues to behave like this.

crazy how much more I like iracing than acc. iracing feels like a real world whereas acc feels like a cockpit game. the graphics might look better in acc, but less realistic.

@@coulthard2006 Im talking strictly about GT3 cars here because it's the only class ACC competes with iRacing. So what I've gathered from my own playtime and pro/simracers so far:
FFB: iRacing if you are not using a direct drive wheel, if yes then probably equal
Online experience: iRacing
Driving (physics, tyre model, rain etc.): ACC (Most of the criticism towards iRacing GT3 from actual GT3 drivers is towards to the "floaty" rear of the cars and the lack of chassis flex and weight transfer)
Graphics: ACC if VR then iRacing
I mean not in any planet or world is iRacings graphics better, unless you drive on all low settings or something, iRacing is an old game and has no chance to compete against the graphics of a game from 2018, thats just how it is.
Amount of content (cars and tracks): iRacing
So overall I'd say just play whatever you're comfortable with. If you like ACC play it. If you like iRacing play it, there is no one or nothing that stops you from playing what you want whatever the fanboys of the respective game say.
@@coulthard2006 Ah not having Competition Servers in ACC is a big loss for sure, I have a medium end PC (Ryzen 5 3600x with GTX 1660 Super Ventus and 16gb RAM) and I can't ultra it but im on the high settings and it looks incredible and is stable even on big grid races!
Yeah the feedback thing is the same on ACC you need super strong gear to get the max feedback for sure.
It's crazy how much difference a setup like this makes. Dave is waving at people like it's real life.

Those 27 inch screens give awesome immersion. What model screens are those? I'm looking into a triple screen setup at the moment and cannot decide between 27 or 32 inch 1440p screens.

There should be bonus safety rating or an achievement for when you do a clean parade/cooldown lap and then park in the pits. I think it would be fun to see that incentivized.
Sorry to reply to such an old comment, but there sort of is. From what I’ve read, safety rating counts until the last car passes the finish line, so doing a cooldown lap and pitting after the checker can bump you up a tiny bit.

Yeah, that's a block as is described in the Sporting Code. Many people doing that even when fighting for dead last...
Plus they blame the attacker in case of an incident. I don't understand this. Most of them trying to block just before the brake point makes it impossible not to hit .

Jamie Evans2 was definitely a dirty driver not sure if he knocked you off on propose but, it looked it. I love the aggressive pass on Sam super clean working your way from the back of the pack.

Video idea: Pretty much what we talked about in the session, but can you make a video about some of the most unique parts to a sim rig and where to get these parts for an 80/20 custom setup? Something that might show some of the options for box mounts or angle brackets for arms and vesa monitor mounts, etc.
As someone also looking to start down the 80/20 road, from an obutto, this video would be very helpful.

It is in department of too defensive driving, but after you tell him to pick a lane, he does what he is allowed to do soo.... and the contact is pure racing incident, he did go on the grass.... not what you want, but what happens.....

Not surprised by Mr. Evans' actions. What I am surprised about is Sousa being nice and never once getting into the back of you or trying to dive bomb you the whole time you were being slowed up. That's how everyone should race. Obviously you should race and try to pass, but people need to learn patience. They can't tell the difference between when you're actually faster or just taking advantage of a situation and will end up being passed again by the faster person anyways.

Dave, IMHO viewing your races on RUclips when recorded like this video makes viewing less pleasant than watching them recorded the classical way like you do normally. Half my screen is taken by your hands, the steering wheel and the dials, where I am really interested in what's happening outside. Is this an experiment or do you plan to record in this way from hereon?
