I love that they’re talking about Midsummer, a play where everyone is in love with the wrong person. Delightfully prophetic.
Magical Love Wine -> Royal/Societal pressure for “Chiana” to be the thing ?
Is y this a recently released season or an older season, but still being advertised?
It’s on old one
Season 4
Probably because it was the best season, every single actor was cast perfectly, especially Emma Corrin, nobody has or ever will be able to portray Diana better
@@twelve11 She was outstanding. Kristen Stewart was very good too, though, in "Spencer". I can't decide who I prefer tbh.
This is the starter of a sad life where they definitely don’t understand each other: a trees elf and a man who can’t keep a secret for more than 2 seconds.
i dont know why but it made me laugh out longer than i should have, given how sad her life after marriage would be
and by "it" i mean your comment ahahah
She was also mentally ill
The tree elf also have trouble taking orders which is a bad sign going into the royal family
@@OnLifeandLoveThis is why this “fictionalized” version of their first meeting works so well.
Hasn't anyone noticed that Charles betrayed Diana's trust, by giving away the fact that he had met her, after she expressly asked him not to tell anyone, especially her sister, that they had met and had conversed?
I don't know whether this scene is true or invented but it highlights how the relationship would continue after Diana married Charles.
Having read more comments, I realise that others have seen what I saw. Would that all those who comment here are not completely beguiled by what they see!
Did you notice Diana betrayd her sister's trust by agreeing to stay out of sight and then dressing herself in a costume to meet Charles. Not much different in principle. And Charles likly felt he shouldn't lie to someone he was dating.
Its an invented scene, not at all how they met.
@@Seek1878 a Charles fan… how cute 🤡
It’s an invented scene. No aristocratic family would leave a Prince alone in the entrance hall like that, nor would Diana have behaved that way to a visitor even as a young girl. Aristocratic kids are taught big on manners. This is entirely the imagination of the crown producers
@@ladykiller1978 A diana simp...how cute 🤡
So he promises not to say anything and then immediately does... if that's not a warning against future behaviour...
This was a character written by people who aren’t particularly interested in truth.
But on the other hand she agreed to stay out of sight and then dressed herself in a costume to greet Charles. How is that any different in principle.
@YourEternalSoul666 well she wasn't HIS loved one either, he was dating her sister.
would you rather he lie to his then lover i mean 🤷🏻♀️
@@OnLifeandLove Lying to your sibling speaks to the fact you're siblings. Lying to a stranger speaks to your character. In principle the conditions aren't comparable.
I love that she comes out from behind the tree, cursteys, and then scurries right back behind it. So cute. xD
can you imagine how Jealous her sister was? Not that Charles covered for her at all. Diana said not to tell that they met, 2 seconds pass, and he tells her sister.
Well since he was dating Sarah at that point, maybe he felt he shouldn't keep secrets from her.
@@Sisyphus27but he outright lied
But on the other hand she agreed to stay out of sight and then dressed herself in a costume to greet Charles. How is that any different in principle.
@@OnLifeandLove exactly. They were both deceitful, in a way.
Talk about a betrayal mere seconds later. Obviously, her secret meant nothing to him. The fact that she would be reprimanded by an older sister, meant nothing to him. A real louse and very self absorbed.
On the flip side, she lied about having to go into the room to his face, which you could read as an innocent manipulation. The seeds of mutual dysfunction are right there.
@@FujikorificGood point. Showcases that neither were innocent.

the actors have this amazing chemistry
They really do !
I really enjoyed this series. I think they did a good job of making you care about these people, but never letting you forget that they are out of touch and unrelatable. You can't be raised in such a bubble of incredible wealth and privilege and not be tainted by it. These people are completely clueless about real people's lives. They just look down on us because it's easier than confronting their disconnect.
You put it well
I'm not sure Diana looked down on ordinary people, she might have been vain but she was surprisingly open and down-to-earth.
@@sarahnoelle8892 its called acting
Charles only dated Sarah for the same reason he married Diana- to try to make him forget about Camilla! He really wanted Camilla more than anything- just like his great-uncle David (Edward VIII/Duke of Windsor) wanted Wallis and his aunt, Princess Margaret, wanted Peter!
I wish they did a segment on William of Gloucester, the Queen's cousin. He was also denied the divorcee woman he loved. Prince William is named after him.
You know way too much about this pointless subject to be a real person
@@kungfuspider318 These are common knowledges, that anyone who reads headlines throughout their lifetime will be made aware of.
You might just be younger, so these headlines didn’t occur in your lifetime.
I always loved the soundtrack to this scene it’s so haunting
Yes, it's not like a beginning of a fairytale music, you know something bad is happening as well
Especially in the last minute, when Diana is watching Charles from the window. It's so eerie, because we know what was about to happen, for 15 years, all those things.

Listen to your sister, girl! Leave that man alone!
Diana was enchanting and a force of nature.
And had a lot of emotional issues she hid until after marrying.
@@Seek1878 in many ways that is part of her force of nature.

That's not what we loved about her .
That she had emotional issues . Charles had big issues too didnt he ? But as ladymary said , Diana was a Force of nature 👍@@Seek1878
Funny to see all the comments accusing Charles giving the secret away. They forgot that Diana agreed to not meet Charles but then dressed in a costume and timed it at the exact moment Sarah was out to greet him. And she could have gone outside too.
As a youngest sister I approve this message 😂
In a house that big, there must have been other ways to get from room A to room B without going through that one room you know you need to avoid.

@dr.athariqbal5487weirdo
I wonder how Sarah might have been as Charles' wife if he had married her.
Worse than Diana. Sarah was even more independent and would not have put up with his cra*p.
@@mjremy2605 I believe that lady Sarah wasn't naive as diana was, so yeah she got a more stronger personality than diana
@@mjremy2605this would make her better in the role then. She'd know what she was signing up for and know who to blame, rather than engaging in self destruction.
Funny i thought that at little Archie's chistening photo a few years ago.. Lady Sarah was one of the God parents.
I think the entire reason she didn't marry Charles is that she caught on real quick that he wasn't that into her. Not sure she knew it was because he wasn't over Camilla. But she was older and able to see through him much faster than our younger, naive, beautiful Diana.
Magical moment - what young man wouldn't have been inclined to fall in love with Diana after this opening? But Charles should have been warned that Shakespeare always makes the wrong people fall in love - and you need Puck or a very smart lover to make it end well.
Watching this after season 6 part 1 hits different
This is bizarre Diana said they first met in the fields by Sandringham. Where Prince Charles used to walk his dogs.
It's a TV drama based on real people. It is not an historically accurate documentary. Much of the content is made up, including this scene.
How cunning an manipulative of Diana. She knew exactly what she was doing. Was sneaky of her...Sarah knew
To be honest, Diana's older sister actually dodged a huge bullet with King Charles, irl and in the show.
She was too young
Crazy sad that today all her big siblings are still alive..
She even passed away before any of her parents did..
What lesson is this tragedy gonna teach us, We might never know..
Actually her father died in 1992 but sad as 2nd youngest of the 4 kids she died first
At the very least, the real Charles probably really liked Diana that he chose her over her own sister. Their marriage may crumble but I don’t think the affection Charles had at the beginning was a lie.
yes! I do think there was something there. I think she kind of blossomed into something more in terms of her good works and the whole *Diana* of her. I think Charles never did. He has a really good mind, talented, interesting and he should have blossomed along with her but his obsession with Camilla stopped it. It's really sad. If they had turned toward each other and actively worked to move in the same direction, the monarchy right now would be something blindingly spectacular. :(
Allegedly Charles and camilla picked diana because she was young and they thought they could control her
laki2 sakit dan aneh😮
@ bumblebee7384
Diana was a lot younger than King Charles
Diana's sister, Sarah (who is about Charles' age) made the mistake of granting an interview and making statements about
her relationship with Charles. Consequently, Charles dropped her like she was a hot potato!
@@here_we_go_again2571 true but in real life, the royals and Charles did went back to the spencers to look into marriage prospect with Sarah (she's the right bloodline) plus they need Charles away from Camilla's drama ASAP. At the time people were certain it was Sarah that Charles were courting, but it turns to be Diana.
1:08 THERE SHE IS, the woman who will soon become one of the most famous, historical women in the world, the one and only, Lady Diana Spencer, a woman who's future will soon become full of fame and glamour, but also full of pain and troubles.
I’m now 36 but at 17 I had her photo in a collage on my wall in college and I’m trying to remember what about her inspired me to do so since I was only a child when she passed. The only thing I remember was the level of humanitarian work she did. Now as an adult it is her perseverance and strength that I admire. Not caring what others think and doing as she pleases.
Lots of people do charity and humanitarian work. Very few are rich, blond, princesses.
Incredible scene from an incredible season
Diana was just a teenage girl inlove with the idea of the prince .. poor girl
I bet this man has never ever set foot in a single flat or a one-bedroom apartment.
Aside from the fact that no such thing ever happened and that to Diana a “Midsummer’s Night Dream”. did NOT involve the play nor the author and poet Shakespeare - this was a highly amusing piece of Peter Morgan writing !
Girl run
Love Di this explains her karma later... maybe
I don't think a 14 year old can enchant a 20 something year old

Of course they can.

QUESTION:
Is this the same peach and checkerboard ballroom where that one ball was held in the 1982 “The Scarlet Pimpernel”?
(I’m just commenting because now I absolutely must know the answer as well)
@@heatherfinch2367 Actually, I just did some digging around, and YES!! That is Ragley Hall’s great hall, and they filmed there for “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, “The Crown”, and apparently “Doctor Who”! (though I’ve never watched it)
It’s such a pretty room, I kind of want to replicate it in my dining room. (someday when I have a dining room!)
The last minutes of the scene looking out the window where her eyes looks down then up again she made the same face eye gestures throughout the seasons as an adult it’s like it was her signature expressions

That’s so weird She’s literally a child why is that enchanting
I feel sorry for any actor playing the King because it is simply impossible to pull off his signature awkwardness and lack of appeal. People making comments about him being interested in a much younger woman are missing the point. I think the appeal of Diana was that he would have time to fool around while waiting for her to come of age. That, and she had no lofty academic or business goals to give up. She wanted to be a mother. It probably seemed like the best job opportunity in her chosen field to be the mother of the future monarch.
This is not what actually happened
Yeah, but it’s certainly a charming story.
Yes we know. The writers confirmed this scene, along with many others are fiction and intended for creative purposes. Remember it’s a tv series
Maybe not literally, but it's a well known fact that Diana met the prince because he was dating her older sister.
He looks like a gay movie character, I can't remember
He’s in Gods Own Country maybe you’re thinking of that?
This has got to be made up. Even the music it makes her seem like a stalker. Is this costume thing even real?
She was just a 16 year old girl when they met. I would hardly call it stalking, just a normal teenager infatuated by a literal prince that her sister was dating and dying to meet him. The exact encounter when they met is probably not specified historically beyond that. I doubt the costume thing was real, I suspect it was an artistic choice in storytelling. As someone mentioned above in "A Midsummer Nights Dream" every character is in love with the wrong person. It's foreshadowing.
It is made up. Never happened
That poor girl should’ve been able to marry a MAN of her choosing not some petulant man child whose mummy never loved him.
She was a stalker. Just another of her mental illness manifestations. Poor Charles. He took her for a normal dryad. 🌳🧚🏼♀️
Or she was literally 16 years old and was groomed by a 28 year old man.
A 16 year old yeah. Charles surely has a good pr team. Still bitching about Diana
