I get both sides, but it is quite sad. Maybe she was advised by her voice doctor not to strain or use her voice? There must be a reason...her voice is very frail these days, so I'm guessing she prerecorded everything. Possibly thats what happened?!? We'll never know. Still, kinda sad for a "live" show
but that's not the point of a live show. especially a mariah live show. the vocals don't have to be immaculate and just like the studio, it's about the experience. mariah singing her songs to us has always been special no matter what her voice condition is, she lets herself be vulnerable for the audience and that's what captivated most of us lambs, she is very special when she performs. the prerecorded tracks sound amazing but there's no passion in her performance.

As someone who was there, and has seen her on every leg since 2017, I can say I walked away pleasantly satisfied with last night's show. In person, she sounded very convincing throughout the overwhelming majority of the show. Since Global Citizen's Fest 2022, I've been saying she needs to just prerecord with her current voice, and put effort into makimg it seem like she's singing. Thats what she did here. There absolutely was live singing, and the bits that were live were a drastic improvement from when I saw her at Lover's and Friends last year. Even her speaking voice was so much clearer and fluid.

The woman has been singing with a damaged instrument for at least 25 years. At this point, I'd harken her voice to a heart needing a triple bypass. That's ok. She's aged and her instrument has changed/diminished. She still is allowed to maintain her career and appease her fans by performing. If that means pre-recording most things, so be it. The theater was filled with satisfied attendees. That's all that matters in show business. We can revisit this conversation when tickets stop selling. That will let you know when "the bare minimum" isn't working.

Even though it’s not fully live, her tone on the pre recorded vocals sound healthier. Her voice sounds full and not scratchy or raspy. She doesn’t sound hoarse at all. And she’s hitting notes that she never did before. And VOL was fully live in a higher key!!!!!! She slayed! Her belting approach is much healthier now, last few years she’s been using an overly chesty approach which is unhealthy and tiring on higher belts, but now she’s putting her belts in the frontal resonator placement which is much healthier. Yay!!

Considering we’re getting more dates in the summer too, I’m more than happy with the new pre-recorded vocals. Great set list, outfits, and her energy is much better this time round ! & honestly when you attend concerts, you’re not pro-actively thinking if the artist is singing live or not😭 you’re there for a good time & show , and that’s what she gave us. A lot of people who attended loved it.

Tbh I have no problem with her lipsyncing in the climaxes and high notes of the songs but seeing her lipping 100% of a song is a shock to me lol, even ABMB verses. Lip sync aside this is one of her best residencies visually, the butterfly medley was stunning and the looks are cute!

What you here is athe use of different resonators, here voice is more forward, less breathy and thats what we have been listening for a few years now since Big Energy, she is bringing power to her mix, her whistle is becomingeasier to accesss and many songs like Make it happen are sungunder those resonators so thatshow it works. She is nervous, she is not trying to add depth she bringing the soundmore forward using a very importantresourcecalled microphone, lifting her soft palate only when necessary and that makes her entire overall singing ligghter which is 100% normal. Themore youagethe lighter your soundbecomez, it was already crazy yhat at 38 Mariah could sing F5 like I stay in love that way. Every reaction video or vocal showcase it's "lipped" vs "live" and honestly, it's exhausting to continously encounter it. Especially from people who are her fans. For one, I find it hard to believe that an entire show is lipsyched with 3% only being live, please for once use logic. Given what happened to her one NYE I doubt that she'll put on a show that's 97% playback only for her to be left out in the cold with 3minutes worth of live singing. Regardless, this woman has had her voice and her ability questioned for decades and I can't see how she has to deal with it even now. Don't want her playback? Don't listen to her live performances or don't go to her live shows. Sit your *** at home listening to her studio records. Buy a vinyl or stream it on your devices, buy a good set of headphones so you can hear all the intricacies of her voice. Just don't pick apart her singing on multiple platforms, all the time, on every video. Of course artists, all artists, should be critically engaged wrt to their art but this? This is actually insane-even by parasocial circumstance. I'm convinced majority of you need to learn how to appreciate a show, a musical accompaniment, a celebration. For one, I find it hard to believe that an entire show is lipsyched with 3% only being live, please for once use logic. Given what happened to her one NYE I doubt that she'll put on a show that's 97% playback only for her to be left out in the cold with 3minutes worth of live singing. Regardless, this woman has had her voice and her ability questioned for decades and I can't see how she has to deal with it even now. Don't want her playback? Don't listen to her live performances or don't go to her live shows. Sit your *** at home listening to her studio records. Buy a vinyl or stream it on your devices, buy a good set of headphones so you can hear all the intricacies of her voice.
