- Highlights from a journey between Kolkata and Guwahati aboard the Kanchanjungha Express. This compilation includes an extensive coverage of the Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri stretch which is covered in daylight by the Kanchanjungha Express. Enjoy the crossings of the Hughli river at Dakshineshwar on the northern fringes of Kolkata, the magnificent Farakka barrage over the Ganga at Farakka, the four crossings of the Mahananda river between Malda and New Jalpaiguri and the stunning Barsoi curve.
Notable crossings include the Padatik Express, New Delhi Howrah Duronto Express, Agniveena Express, Coalfield Express, Karmabhoomi Express, Kanchanjungha Express, Kaziranga Express, Capital Express, Teesta Torsha Express, Kamrup Express and Uttar Banga Express. One interesting feature of this train is that it undergoes a locomotive change at Malda, where the Bardhaman WDM3A gives way to a Malda Town WDM3A.
Train journey across NorthEast on a Monsoon climate. That is pure bliss.
I travelled by Saraighat Exp. on same route in May 2018 from Howrah to Gauhati. What a spectacular journey. Rivers, big greenery & industrial development. Enjoyed best rail travel on this route.
This is one of the best Indian Rail videos I have ever watched. Many thanks for uploading this. I wish to experience such journeys myself but this is the next best thing.

Only 7 year ago and you can see the difference in indian Railways comparing to the present times.
Today most of the train runs with Lhbs,almost all of the routes are electrified,doubling in north east,etc
Malda Locos are Awesome. If IR make poll which is Beautiful Loco in Diesel in IR 100% it will grab 1st/2nd/3rd Prizes all.
