Omg! Blast from my past. One of my favorite songs. You should react to Flaming by Pink Floyd. That is in my top 5. Thanks for a great reaction and bringing me back to my youth for a bit! Made my day!

Gilmour sings the first part, Roger comes in after the solo. Roger's voice is more emotional and anxiety sounding. Gilmour's voice tends to be much more chill and melancholy... "Haunting" is a good word. Perfect for Roger's dark lyrics.
Roger and Dave switch off nicely vocally throughout the entire Wall album.

Yes, after Gilmour’s heartfelt guitar solo you first hear Waters’ voice at “ but it was only fantasy…” many of their songs will have both singers, especially from The Wall album 🔥

The way pink floyd arrange their tracks is just awsome and no one does it quite like them. They know the exact place at the exact time for quiet spaces, softness and powerful moments. It’s always a journey and it’s very hard to not listen to a pink floyd track all the way through regardless of whether it’s 2 mins long or 25 mins long, you just don’t know where it’s gonna take you, and every listen can make you feel something different as you hear things you didn’t previously.

I love the way Floyd builds song structure. It's the equivalent of a film focusing on character development. They take their time and build in themes, sometimes across albums. It makes you invested. You care because they care. You rarely found this level of craftsmanship and attention to detail back in the day, and never anymore.

I am having a great night now - after this! This track is fantastic and your comments about it were right on point. Gilmour has a tenderness to his voice that Waters doesn't posses (you were right, he sings at the end of the song). Although Waters mostly plays bass on Pink Floyd songs, Gilmour plays it here. He also plays 6-string acoustic and 12-string acoustic and electric guitars. I also like Wright's "sprinkles" on the electric piano. You are right, less is more. Except when it comes to Pink Floyd reactions - we just want more lol. 😄

This band transcends generations. I don't know why exactly. But it does. The overwhelming majority of people that listen to Pink Floyd seem to have the same visceral reaction to them as the people who heard them for the first time. There must be something there with this band. Never seen anything like it before.

My favorite album and pretty much one of the most perfect Pink Floyd songs there is. Works in the context of the complex narratives of The Wall, yet is as moving on its own. Stunning ❤
Floyd guitarist David Gilmour also plays fretless bass on this and both Gilmour and Roger Waters do certain verses. It’s Roger at the end. Love it so much ❤❤
I agree btw. I love musically “better” bands but Floyd have something extra-special.

After Syd, there were basically three vocalists [Nick didn't sing, as a drummer, he has even less recorded output than Ringo ]. They are individually identifiable, once you know. A lot of this is Roger. Listen to 'Animals' and most of the singing is Roger, with his more aggressive style. David has a much 'softer' more melodic style, which you've shown that you recognize. He also often sang harmonies with Richard Wright [ listen to 'Echoes', either version]. On many older tracks, Richard also takes lead vocals. Most recently, listen to the 'Pulse' " Comfortably numb ", where Richard takes the 'Doctor' role originally played by Roger.
The timbres are subtly different. Part of PF's brilliance is how they chose EXACTLY who was best placed to deliver each vocal line.

There are only a couple of songs that stand alone on the wall, this being one of them, but to truly understand, you have to listen and know the basics of the story that the album tells to get the message. The four floyd albums starting with Dark side of the Moon need to be listened to as a whole.

Pink has built a wall between himself and the world. And as he looks around he realizes that he's lonely. He's reaching out, he's yelling at his wall hoping there's someone on the other side that he can interact with. He's hopeful that there's someone that will interact with him despite his wall "Don't tell me there's no hope at all".

The original double vinyl album has four "sides". This album is best listened to by hearing one or more record sides per sitting, without breaking in the middle of a side.
Each record side is like an Act in a play. 🤙😎

Gilmour has a trained beautiful voice.
Waters has a great rock and roll voice. It is more whiney and not as smooth as Gilmour's voice.
Richard Wright (keyboards) usually sang harmony with Gilmour.
"Hey you. Our there on the road, always doing what your told, can you help me?", is Waters's voice.

  • @CoolCoyote
    @CoolCoyote 3 месяца назад +1

Davids voice is better and smoother yes, but Rogers was apt in this as he has the alternative higher range than David and actually sings very well in this at the end and in other songs like Mother' where he is again very apt with his higher and sort of crazy high range off ended lead offs, so in this Rogere is better and what was needed for the song, much like the beatles Pauls voice is the the smoother voice where as Johns voice has more grit and better for rock n roll harder songs(tho having said that pauls voice was great in helter skelter which is the Beatles hard rock ac/Dc song)
