This is incredibly helpful. Thank you very much for having your wife there to explain her perspective. I'm 27 so I feel like I'm in your shoes! I appreciate knowing theres a light at the end of the tunnel!
Thank you for this, I'm actually going through the same thing selling life insurance. I'm working for a Trucking company starting at 2am and then work insurance in the evenings. It's tough but I will not quit
ive just recently found not only your channel, but i am now in your group, waiting for the final acceptance. im currently in my pre-licensing phase. ive had watched, i can only guess, upwards of over 300 of your videos in about a week so far. this one, is my favorite. not even close. i cannot wait to share this with my wife. i really am excited to get licensed and begin my new career with the help and guidance of you and your agency. looking forward to succeeding to the point that i can share my story with people who, right now, think they cant, and changing their minds. godspeed good sir.
Thanks for NOT being the typical time-waster on here and sharing your honesty. It's highly appreciated and very meaningful for someone new, like myself.
Hi Dave, remember me? This is Harry Carter from Chgo. We talked a few times a several years ago. l am with another IMO, but man we're you ever a down to earth, caring individual, and good buis man. l learn so much from your videos l sometimes think l should just surprise you and mail you a check. You're so sincere, l can see why folks believe and trust you. Next time I'm passing by Chattanooga [ my wife and l drive to ATL about every 9mo's or so] I'm gonna stop by and shake your hand. I'm with another good firm, but I'm sure your team is glad they're with your co. And by the way, l can see you're definitely not blind either. You're blessed with an intelligent wife. I'm so glad to have spoken with you a few times! Also no other co. has ever had the insight to include their wife's either. Such a great idea. The two of you keep both your hands open, cause the Lord has more blessings to shower on your family.
Best decision Dave made is to marry Laura and vice-versa. David is a true man for all seasons with "true" grit that few have. They deserve their success.
God bless you and your wife David. It is a great idea to have a video with your wife cause she is the most person who really feels you and knows exactly what you went through keeping in mind that you have bills to pay kids to take care of. I really love this video
Thanks Dave for sharing this. People share sucesses, failures are hard to come by. You are a dare devil, who takes the bull by the horn. You had a sensible partner to support you. Hats of to her
Hi David, not sure if you will read this, but I want to extend a big thanks for the wisdom you have released through your content. I’m currently on an agency program through a major carrier, and your content has really helped with my perspective and goal setting. Keep up the great work!
@@TheDIGAgency At least you did not lied about insurance. I am agent for two years; very bad agent. I make $24,000 a year. Very bad salesman. I will start saving money to pay for your coarse.
Great video. One thing you did not touch on or don't know is after 45 - 50 corporate America practices severe age discrimination. Durning layoffs they are fairly even in laying off ages. But when they rehire, hire an average younger on average. Maybe say 15 years younger. You will avoid that as a couple.
Really loved the content on this video, Dave. Appreciated the honesty and perspective from your wife. This is the exact content beginning agents need to hear. Really respect what you do and the example you set.
Working All day, Mon to Fri AND sat!!! U have an amazingly supportive wife! Many marriages would not survive. Value and love your wife with all your 💖. She's amazing.
Thank you both for keeping it real. I am currently considering investing in this business. Of coarse the hype in the industry makes it sound like you could have no mishaps. Thank you David for bringing me back down to earth. There's nothing like a balanced perspective to help one count the cost for who wants to build their house on sand?
David I have been watching many of your videos and I really appreciate the transparency and how you really want to help agents stay the course and face the fears that arise when you are on your own. I am starting this business that I wish I would have done sooner and have a job as well. It takes effort and dedication to succeed and you give people like me the inspiration to know that it will get better with time and experience. God bless you and your wife.
I have such HUGE RESPECT for your wife. I did not have her emotional matureness at her age with only 2 young boys and a husband who was rising up the Allstate sales mngt ladder and never home. I was not understanding even with the security and money galore and it ultimately led to a divorce (there were other issues too). I'm so impressed with both of you, but being a woman, I could relate to her experience and am ashamed of my old self (not like that now). She's absolutely beautiful too. Thanks for the honesty.
Hi David, such a bold fresh idea, to have the Mrs.' candid input on your getting into the insurance biz--and then BACK AGAIN into the insurance biz!. So enjoyable to see someone who went through EXACTLY the same thing that I am now. But there is light at the end of the tunnel, as you have proven. Thank you sir. PS tell Mrs. Duford she could be Patricia Heaton's stunt double!
Hey Dave, that was awesome. I love the fact that Laura was there to from then till now and that you were steadfast in you conviction to succeed in this business. I admire you and Laura very much. You also give me great inspiration to keep on pushing and take it to the next level. Keep up the great work of providing Real, no BS content. I am working hard on consistency. Much respect.
You two make quite a team and have weathered quite a bit. Suffering together builds a bond that one may not see at the time you go through it! Stay the course and listen to each other! God Bless your collective efforts!!
Hi Laura (and David), Thanks for the incredible insight. Fact is, what I found most helpful was David's determination to persevere despite Laura's reservations - all that in the face of the exponentially increasing family unit. I'm not sure I could withstand such pressure. Second to that was David's daring to challenge failure, not just once but again and again.
I would like to thank you David for creating your channel. When I started to search for a career change I stumbled on some insurance jobs on indeed and it peaked my interest. After searching about the career on youtube I quickly found your channel. The amount of educational information you have provided answered many of my question about the industry. I am in the process of obtaining my L & H license and plan on signing up with your agency. Thank you
Proud of you David. I've just found your videos about a week ago and have been consuming them while I think of making another career change. Thanks for all the valuable content.
David, You have proven yourself probably because you have been very honest with yourself. I admire it. Don't blame your wife, all wives prefer security than fantasy. Now that she got your point be happy for ever. Thanks for sharing & encouraging. Nothing remarkable is achieved without hurdle as we all know.
David Duford ... When you “outkick the coverage” you are basically playing out of your league. LOL ... you’re a good looking guy, but your wife is beautiful!
Wow, Dave, You are a lucky man. Your hard work, dedication has really paid off. I wish I would have know this years ago. I missed so much with my children while 'working for the man'. Blessings on you all. Thanks for putting this together. Thanks Laura for your candor.
Great interview - I loved selling Life Insurance and get a defined pension check from a Life Company - I miss it and have saved up for leads - Love your training and you are lucky to have a wife that stuck with you for the duration !
Sir, thank you very much, I'm 27 from Indonesia and just started joining one of Allianz Life Agency in Indonesia since this year, this realistic experience sharing motivate me even more (I got only 1 case few months back, really hard to sell) again thanks 🙏
Dave, thank you for keeping it real w/o the flash or hype. I also thank you for showing it from the side of your wife and family, the the high & lows of the business, and the good with the bad. I am somewhat in a similar situation, but I know the FE business has so much offer, and living life on my terms! I appreciate you and thank you.;-)
Absolutely! I loved doing this video. No flash, no bullshit. Just a discussion about the real problems real agents will face and how we were able to overcome them.
Great video. I really appreciate the honesty. I would also like to ask you an honest question. So many people say you can make $100,000 your first year if you put in the work. From your story you definitely put in the work and then some. Why do you think you didn't hit that 100k mark and it took you 3 years to get financially comfortable?
I started part-time before going full time in month 7 of my career. I failed out of the business in month 12, and got a corporate job. I came back a few months later and started part-time again, this time for a year. At 2.5 years into selling insurance, I went full time for the second time, this time having (thankfully) learned from all the stupid mistakes I made. So it was 2014 or 2015 - 3 to 4 years in - when I really started getting traction.

We probably all started in a similar fashion, too, as I 'fell' into the business because I lost a job, and since I had a few years running my own office supply business under my belt, which told me that THAT is what I wanted, my OWN business, getting into the 'sales' business of insurance was not that far fetched, even though I remember making a statement the day I learned of this job opening: "I'VE NEVER SOLD INSURANCE!".... yes, Flexibility is just an amazing part of this industry - I could never go back to the '9-5' of office or industry, even though there have been those short moments where I actually DID try those things along the way - I'm just not built for that. The insurance industry is an AMAZING self-driven track if you are willing to see it thru - and your WIFE, too! Thank you wives!

I’m about a month in health accident life sales. My leads are absolute garbage as far as responses. Is January just shit? Feeling frustrated
The first quarter of the year is probably the best 3 month period for most agents.
Thank you so much for this video!!!! Very inspiring and raw!!!! Congratulations on your anniversary!!!! 😁
