Just listening on wired Apple earbuds the cheaper setup had a slightly better defined top end (using my age deteriorated hearing) but lost a tiny bit of warmth. It was a quality of sound that I regard as excellent, and much much better than 95% of audio on RUclips! I look/listen to a various people who describe sound equipment and I'm constantly amazed how many of those "pro" audio people put out their voice-over audio with pops and blows related to mic positioning ... I'm delighted to find that you actually follow your own advice and deliver top quality sound on your videos.
Fantastic video, thank you! Question I had - is it possible to use Logic (or any other DAW) as an input source for video calling software, like Teams? I'd like to use Logic to post-process my microphone audio, while in Teams calls.
Yes usually my mantra for my videos, however not mentioning the microphone type was a considered decision. People have bias/preference/prejudice towards certain brands and models, this video was about the importance of technique over gear (hence the title ‘how to make a (any) microphone sound expensive’)

Breaking out the old AT2020 to see how close I can get with a similar, basic chain. Great tips on the Logic settings, Harv. 😊

as a newbie, I understand maybe about an ⅛th of what you’re talking about, but it’s very enjoyable - and it sounds great! 😅
Cheers Harv, another great video ! Thanks for the Logic tips 👍
Enjoy guys!
This has nothing to do with the video but where did you get that sweater I love it!!
Ha ha thanks, it’s new 😄 from Joe browns
Subscribed, really appreciate your insights, great video. I wonder if it was an SM-58??? lol
Nope ... it was a cheap condenser mic ... whereas an SM58 is a dynamic mic.
