How come Chris Hemsworth doesn't seem to be wearing a black hat in this movie?

  • @xFlavaaaahh

Maybe I'm the only one but I liked Blackhat. To me it had an interesting idea and i enjoyed how it was different from other movies. I will agree that some parts could have been cut out (cgi effects with the computers and consecutive scenes with nothing but music and random events). I also thought some of the characters were like able. SPOILER ALERT when the black woman and Chinese brother die in that gun fight I was shocked and actually felt sad. Also, so what if the bad guys were just solely after money? Money drives the world and most people who perform crimes like these are all money hungry so I don't see why there needs to be another motive in this situation? I don't think it's the best movie I've ever watched but it's not the worst either, and it's not in the latter half of movies I've watched. I'd give it a B, check this movie out if you are interested in something different.

I agree with what you said and I enjoyed the movie. The only thing that seemed a bit off to me was when the police attacked the bad guys, when did Hathaway acquired the special training to keep up with the others?

Oh god, the villains were such a cop out. Nothing worse to me than a villain who is bad just for the sake of being bad. The mention of no political angles or demands for money made me think part of the movie would be getting to the bottom of the villain's motivatins, but nope. Money.

blackhat is an underrated gem. it's one of Michael Mann's best works. it incorporates all the good elements from his previous work & set them in this digital age. it's also one of few films that realistically depicts hacking.

I don't know about hacking, but I do know computers don't make all these bleeping sounds when texts come on screen, always annoys the crap out of me when watching films or tv. Also, texts don't come scrolling down like they always do in films. And why do hackers never use a mouse or touchpad in films? Well, because it doesn't look cool, you'd better be typing frantically constantly if you're hacking in a film.

Having combat experience, after watching this film I can say the shootout scenes were possibly the least realistic of any major motion picture I’ve seen (that is going for realism)
The Chinese operators in first shootout are bunched together like they’re trying to keep warm almost and they’re standing in front of each other while I’m a shootout while out in the open. Sure enough one bomb kills the entire team bc of their spacing. This is like 101 stuff.
Next I was baffled when they were hiding behind shipping containers as 7.62 rounds were punching holes through them (literslly was in silouettes around each character since it was the next shootout they wanted to kill 75% of the cast not this one)
If you were anywhere and saw bullet house extremely well aimed and close to you knowing simple probability is that there is 90% chance you get hit. But no they stay there as bullet hole silhouettes are punched out around them .
The second firefight where do I begin. The Marshall who is supposed to be watching over Thor arrives to scene of shootout (literally like 10 dude firing full auto assault rifles at Thor as he hides behind a small metal barrier that’s barely big enough to fit behind. If they wanted to kill him literally all they had to do was walk up to him and kill him and if he left cover to run on approach gun him down.
During this, the marshal drives by and lands a clean headshot at like 40 mph at like 30 yards with his .45 handgun while leaning waist of outnof the car. The best Markesmen in the world would have to try just over and over to get that shot. Magically they park car somwhwre and appear on screen Marshall with black it cop lady (has no gun) Marshall opens fire although they are both just standing out in the open while 50 yards away 10 dudes with automatic rifles unload on them and they are untouched.
The Marshall lands like 5 50 yard pistol headshots in a row without missing one (literslly impossibke, especially when you can feel the lead in the air passing game you. Then he and coo lady finally get shot. When he’s shot, he gets flung back like as if he got hit by a car.
That’s not how transfer of energy works with firearms.
The final firefight which took place in a crowd.of Indonesians that didn’t have too much of a problem with dude getting screwdriver put into his temple and thugs having eachother around with guns and they don’t even stop just keep on with their parade

  • @DaveAlkema
    @DaveAlkema 5 лет назад +10

Let me start by saying I'm an avid film watcher. If I'm watching a movie, my devices are out of sight and I focus on the experience of watching a movie. I've seen Blackhat three times now, and still couldn't give you a plot synopsis. Usually it's a good thing if my brain can shut off during a movie, but this movie forces it. Characters are brought in and killed off, but I have no idea who they are or why we should care. The action is great, but without character development there's no stakes. Think about if Marvel made a movie where two CGI armies of masked aliens fought each other, but you never saw your heroes. It'd be technically impressive, but after a few minutes you'd check out.

I love Mann's films but it was terrible. When I heard about Mann doing a hacker movie it excited me.
But it was very average at best. There was just too many leaps of faith in the movie which is very unlike Mann. He is generally very tight about stories and characters.
There was no hacking in the movie at all it was an techno action film that was very ordinary as well.

    • @MrMightyZ
      @MrMightyZ 4 года назад

The movie going public are extremely “sophisticated” these days, so much so that they demand depth of character and story as well as “highly intelligent” scripts and the highest production values from all movies, even fun movies with action and car chases! These “sophisticates” will pan any movie not discussable at Citizen Kane levels EVEN if it stars a farm boy who becomes a space night who flies around with a giant teddy bear and a 1950 motorcycle tough guy who yells “yeeha!” firing laser guns and rescuing princesses.
They’re all so clever and sophisticated in fact, that I’d like to give them all wet Willies, followed quickly by atomic wedgies and then throw them off a fairly tall waterfall.
I’d be very sophisticated about how I did it then go and have a loud discussion about it all at a coffee shop where lots of people with Chinese tattoos, wearing scarves and ironic page boy hats can see and hear my clever observations and be impressed by how sophisticated I am.
      >ahem<
      Rant over.

I seriously love Mann, "heat" and "Collateral" are 2 of my all time favorite films, and when a Director as talented as him makes a movie like this, it's so disappointing. I can understand that Mann is getting older, but if he could just make one more crime movie, like "heat", and I don't care how long it takes him, I would be so happy because I believe he has at least one great film left in him.

Reason why Michael Mann did this movie: He got paid.
Art is a job, just like everything else. Nothing wrong with doing it for the money. People who claim to never do that are either liars, or are at a point where they just feel they no longer need to think about how to keep a certain standard of living.

First of all, Mann is by far my favorite director. His movies are like a visual utopia for me. And the look of this movie was fabulous. It certainly didn’t disappoint. But, and unfortunately there is a big “but,” the script, just like you said, was unreasonably bad. In the end, the movie was really about personal revenge, and although the last action sequence during the parade was shot wonderfully, the script just didn’t make you care about these characters and that revenge until it was too late. It’s a movie, so I can get past someone being given an unreasonably full deck… and Hemsworth’s character (like it seems he has in real life) has it all. The looks, the body, the brilliant computer mind, the bad assery etc… and who can ever criticize Viola Davis. But… and there’s that word again, apart from some good scenes and the previously mentioned look of the film, the poor script, it’s’ poorly fleshed out characters, and very uneven and hard to piece together story were far too much for Mann’s usual brilliance behind the lens to overcome.

Have to disagree about the casting of Hemsworth, I thought he was perfectly cast. Blackhat is a film about how man has dominion over both the physical and mental worlds and Hathaway is the perfect illustration of this. He's basically the apex of humanity; he's a good looking genius who is both charismatic and badass in equal measure. With his skills and sheer willpower he is able to overcome any obstacle and Hemsworth portrays this excellently. "I'm doing the time, the time isn't doing me."

A good friend of mine is an amateur body builder, much bigger than Hemsworth and has been working in com/pro for years. Most guys I know who consider body building a past time don't pursue it as their profession, including Hemsworth who certainly has enough time in his day to fit in acting and starring in the worlds biggest blockbusters, travelling all over the world and having a social life with staying in good shape.

Who in their right mind could possibly believe that a computer hacker all of the sudden knows how to shoot like a military elite force, be extremely athletic, be handsome, be the best fighter, be extremely romantic, and oh! and by the way the best hacker in the entire world? Come on Hollywood, do you really think we are that stupid? Did you run out of creativity?
Thank you for your comment Chris right on target. I'm not paying a cent for this movie.

This is why RUclips commenters are the worst. Bunch of sheep and don't form their own opinion. How can you say they ran out of creativity when you haven't even seen the movie? It's explained somewhat in the movie why he looks how he looks and is a hacker. And if you watched the movie, you'd know that he doesn't shoot like he's military elite force. He barely even fires a gun in the movie. And just shooting a gun is quite easy and doesn't need much training. As long as you have the safety off, you can shoot it. SPOILER: He only kills one person with a gun in it and misses him several times: UNSPOILER. How do you know Chris is right on target if you did not see the movie. You sheep.

The little interest I had for the movie just went out of the window, bad script and the pace dragging is exactly what I thought would be wrong.

Really not a bad movie. I know it's not constant action and exciting every scene, but I like the flow. Underrated in my opinion.

For such a high tech plot this movie had very low tech interaction. It also lacked the inevitable car chase to escape the NSA lackeys as well as the Dr. Evil type villain who for all his efforts to get his revenge for the thwarted plot still in the end goes out in a blaze of glory. Instead we get a guy who looks like he still lives at home with his parents and dresses in aloha shirts blue jeans and sandals and ends up getting shrived by an ex-con in a prison style slaying. This movie had it's moments but fell flat halfway through.

I feel like this movie's casting director saw Chris Hemsworth and said "Let's top Swordfish's Hugh Jackman as a hacker for 'Least Believable Hacker' casting"

For me it was a very disappointing movie. It was titled Blackhat yet the main character who is suppose to be a hacker runs around like Jason Bourne.
