- In 2019 the most radical long-distance sports tourer on the market takes the best from ‘The Beast’; the phenomenal engine performance, street handling and race track capabilities of the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R are brought into a new KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT. A machine that is as happy munching massive miles in comfort as it is carving up challenging corners.
In order to fully test out the sportier side of touring, KTM invited multiple Isle of Man TT, Macau Grand Prix and British Superbike race winner, Michael Rutter, to take this new performance and technology powerhouse for a lap of the legendary Isle of Man Mountain Course and grind some sliders around the Jurby Motordrome.

Yeah absolutely, I had the 790 Duke and it was great but want a bit more touring focus. Also had the old SMT but for me the new one is a bit too Super moto and not enough touring. So yes please a KTM Duke 890 GT would suit me!

The amount of people who do not understand that this bike isn't about the looks... It looks as good as it can for comfortable riding experience for long trips. Also there's more than enough power in this bike. If you want badass looks and more power there's Superduke r for you. Can people just stop whining and apreciate the work KTM has done to improve their bike?

stephen born, I did a test ride last July and it’s a wonderful machine, I like it, the dealer asked me to wait as the new version will be available sooner. Finally she is there 😄

Love to know what Michael thought of the bike.......I know its got lots of poke but I would have liked to see what Michael had to say about its high speed handling over the mountain, how accurately it steered and turned in and its stability at big three figures up through the mountain mile and round fast corners like Grahams memorial and windy etc

Great vid. Only ever done one full lap of the Island (not racing!!!) - back in 2003 - and can still remember taking some of those corners. We were parked up at the Creg and watched on in awe. Ultimate kudos to any and every one who has ever raced there. RIP Dave Jefferies who we all went to see that year.
Amazing how they made it so small compared to ADV bikes, that to itself is remarkable considering it's almost 1300cc. The fact that you can cruise around with it and be able to race sportbikes is also incredible. So what kind of bike is it anyway? It looks like a smaller ADV, it's some sort of sport cruiser naked?

Yes! Especially if you love a V twin. I test rode a Multistrada and the KTM and I now own a KTM GT!

The super duke GT is the only way to experience the Lovely 1290 V Twin Engine is Sweden if you dont
like adveture bikes due to the insurene cost (around 3-4k and the GT is almost one tenth off that)
Im choosing this or the MT10. Is it Worth 2k more??
KTM you should bring these bikes to India including 690duke.200 and 390 are not sufficient to represent the brand KTM.
I really like this, hopefully more comfortable than the out going GT. This is a possible replacement for my SDR come 2020.

Technically, I think you should be able to run 1290 in TT Formula One class.
