I agree. Loved this one far over the second one, since in this one we get to see everyone meeting hurdles and overcoming them, so we get to see their incredible plan come together in the end. My only criticism is that CinemaSins guy was absolutely right that Bank makes this too easy in some aspects, such as literally letting Danny in through the front door. If there's literally anyone security should be on the lookout it should be THE CON ARTIST THAT SWORE REVENGE ON THE BUILDING's OWNER. Apart from that, all the performances were great, personally I liked the factory strike portion, loved how having to work at the factory for such little time was enough to completely sidetrack not one, but two con artists to the point that they were willing to destroy the heist for justice.

I used to work for a company that filled/fixed ATM machines. The company decided to save a bit of money and moved the office to an even sketchier part of Vegas. We had a guy fall through the roof into our ‘vault room’ (essentially a somewhat secured room) while he was running across the roof to break into the welding shop next door.
We quite literally had millions of dollars in there. If he would have been able to get out (he broke his leg in a pretty fantastically awful way) he could have gotten a pretty decent haul.
In the infosec world, defenders tend to think of the insanely cool, but hugely impractical attack. I’ve tried to get better at focusing on the 95% simple attacks instead of the 5% that would be amazing to see.

The Greco wasn’t designed to control the games, it was made to spot cheaters, which is why the team had to shut it down:
The reason why they didn’t pull up video surveillance for the woman at the slot machine was because all they knew was she got a jackpot. The woman was genuinely surprised, so why would they check to see if someone rigged a game for someone else who didn’t even know they were doing it.
Plus, the way the shutdown works is that it restarts when someone tries to hack it as to keep them from gaining access. The reason bank can’t stop the games on the casino floor is because the Greco isn’t designed for that, it’s designed to catch cheaters not rig the games, and bank can’t stop them himself because he has no forms of communication down there while they’re shutdown.
In conclusion, the movie made it clear what the Greco did and why they had to disable it, so the 21 sins you gave that plot point seemed a bit harsh.

oddly enough the fact that someone can't call out of that room if the system were to be down means that his Casino would have never been allowed to open before that problem was remedied as per Nevada Gaming Commission Surveillance standards.

      A) The airport extends all the way to Tropicana, past the Mandalay Bay and the Luxor. There are runways going south-southwest to north-northeast, in addition to the ones you're thinking of.
      B) The FAA is concerned with more than just flight paths. They are also concerned with tall buildings interfering with radar and with communication signals between aircraft and the control tower.
      C) Clark County requires FAA approval for all buildings within its jurisdiction. The original plans for the Strat called for to be 1800 feet tall, but it was scaled down by about 1/3, and the observation tower was built on the north end of the property, just over the line into the City of Las Vegas, which does not require FAA approval. Even more significant, UNLV's Thomas and Mack Center, just off Tropicana, was limited to 104 feet. The FAA also objected to the original plans for the new Raiders stadium, approximately 2 miles from the airport, because it was too tall. The height was revised downward to 205 feet.
      D) The Ocean's movies have always been loose with the geography of the Strip. Terry Benedict remarks that "that monstrosity casts a shadow on my pool". The pool in question is the Bellagio fountains, and therefore the hotel is actually halfway up the Strip near where City Center is.

    • @SgtSupaman
      @SgtSupaman 3 года назад +9

Casinos typically max out winnings for any game to keep the odds of them making money more in their favor. When winnings are allowed to be too big, it starts tipping the expected value the wrong way from the casino's perspective.

#7- Dr. Stan is in on their activities. He is shown later taking a payoff from them and it's suggested he is basically their "Team Doctor".
#11- While it's true that Bank might have been caught for the murder if he threw Rueben off the building, that doesn't mean he wouldn't at least bluff it. He was in the position of power. He obviously has influence in Vegas which could always mean having cops/city officials in his pocket. What's more likely is that Rueben, who is considered a Vegas legend himself would know that his signature would not be counted as valid. Remember, this is the first guy Danny and Rusty talk to when they need to take down the most powerful guy in Vegas in the first film (Benedict). This is the guy who was not only able to easily repay Benedict the 19 million he stole (stolen$+Vig), but he was ALSO able to pay Saul's 19 mil without even giving it a second thought. He has power.
He could easily tell authorities that he induced to make that deal under duress. The deal was unconsumated anyway and would be unwound if it ever went before a judge. Lastly, a businessman of Rueben's stature, even if he thought Bank was being straight with him, would NEVER have put himself in that situation. He says later that he was warned repeatedly about Bank. So him acting this gullible is what I am sinning.
#33- Casinos are private establishments. It's in the tiny little print somewhere that they can collect your data.
#83- This is all part of the rouse to sell Benedict on the legitimacy of the heist. Danny suspected that Benedict would try some sketchy sh*t, and as part of that deal, he is watching and listening to the entire operation. So this was part of covering that stuff.
#89- Linus induces Sponder to choose the diamond room because it's one of Bank's personal areas that has zero or minimal surveillance going on.
#90- They do call Bank. Almost literally right after this scene. You actually show it in the next clip.
#96- They could probably have bribed one of those workers to carry the magnetron in, but they are probably suspect to intense searches when they come in. Anything that high security, they would probably not be allowed phones, or personal accessories of any kind. Bank is the only person who can probably move around with complete impunity.
#120- Exactly right! In fact, the individual dealers have agency to stop play when they sense something wrong. They can halt play, make a phone call, or even just give a signal to one of the watchers on the floor. There is zero way they would accept every player at every table just winning over and over like nothing was wrong.
#126- The "5 inches is a dealbreaker" thing was once again for Benedict to hear. They knew they could work with it, but HE didn't. It was all part of Danny trying to anticipate and outmaneuver him.
#129- You can't really. Or at least, it's never happened. Or anywhere close to it. The three biggest airport payouts were for 3.9 mil, 879K, and most recently (in 2014) 302K. Sure, they were manipulating the machine, but remember, they get a kid who understands hacking to do this. Can that hacker back in 2007 literally increase the allowable winnings by a machine? Also, the paying entity would have some leg to stand on legally if it's own maximum payout is being manipulated. It's not a "Too bad, so sad" type thing.

Making him rich at the end was part of the gang's plan from the beginning. There's some dialog on this that lacks context the first time you watch it.
Making an innocent man miserable doesn't sit well with Linus. He tells Saul. Saul says "this is war, kid" meaning they just don't see any other way without inflicting side "casualties." But the part where "he gets the Susan B" means Rusty will slip him the magic silver dollar. The dollar somehow Deus exes the slot machine into paying out the set-for-life jackpot.
Those two lines are spoken before we see the gang do anything to the secret shopper.

There's one more huge inconsistency, with the drilling a tunnel plan, in the ocean's 11 in the belalgio heist it was specifically mentioned they can't tunnel the way in as ground motion sensors around the building for 100 yards and that's with Terry Benedict so Willy Bank with even more enemies would obviously keep those measures heck he kept the greco there's no way he's not using motion sensors too....
So the whole exit plan of this movie is inconsistent as its in same place as of Ocean's 11 movie but still lesser security
