9:09 It is actually explained in a deleted scene
Plenty sees Bond and Tiffany getting it on and she’s obviously angry about it. When she was leaving, she snuck into Tiffany’s purse and found her address and decided to go there for revenge. But when she got there, she is greeted by Mr Wint and Mr Kidd who kill her because they thought she was Tiffany
So the sin isn’t why Plenty was at Tiffany’s, but for the director cutting this scene out for no reason other than pissing Jeremy off

You didn't sin the fact that James Bond obtained a Playboy Club Membership using his supposedly secret spy name and then carried the card in his wallet when he was undercover AS SOMEONE ELSE

    • @smolkafilip
      @smolkafilip 3 года назад +32

James Bond is Bond's real name. Bond is technically not a spy, he is an intelligence officer. That means most of the time he travels under his true name and has a bogus job at the consulate of whichever country he is travelling to which gives him a diplomatic passport and immunity. That's why he can do stuff like fly with a gun on him and carry said gun as a foreigner in countries. As a "diplomat" he cannot be searched or detained. He is not "secret", he enters overtly and legally and then while in the country he recruits people who already live and work there and gets them to give up confidential information. A guy who works at a military installation and hands over some stolen files to Bond in exchange for his child being accepted into a British university and given a scholarship is a spy. If he gets caught, he spends the rest of his life in prison. If Bond gets caught, he waves his passport and the country which caught him sends the Brits a sternly worded letter demanding he be recalled from his bogus consulate position.
In the rare circumstance that he would decide to conceal his entry from the government of a country he is entering (a real life example of that would be when high-ranking Mossad officers were supervising assassinations of Palestinian terrorists hiding from justice in European countries after the Munich massacre, they would enter under false names to conceal their pressence from their local intelligence counterparts), he would travel under a false name and would be carrying credentials only in that name, so that his name is not logged at the border, but in Diamonds are forever he was investigating a criminal organization so he would likely only switch identities just before going for an undercover meet. For all we know, he likely did only carry "Peter Franks" creds to the first meet. The second time he comes in he was in a hurry because he found out the real Peter Franks escaped and could show up any minute, so he did not burn precious time swapping wallets. I mean, he didn't even hang up the phone. Then when his attempt to kill Franks discreetly failed and turned into a very visible fight right in front of Tiffany Case, he improvised the whole wallet swap thing, because it both made him look more like a hardened criminal and conveniently explained the other guy's presence.

Even after catching on fire shortly after the MGM caught fire. The slot machines are very out of date. That was the day everything was mechanical and had no electronics. Ah, Diamonds Are Forever, a magnificent, mixed up mess of a movie, that holds a very special place in my heart. It was the very first James Bond movie I ever saw. My father took me to see it when I was about ten. He was rather distant, so it was one of the few things we ever did together. That makes it a special memory. Seeing Jill St. John in that bikini was a significant event in my sexual awakening. I found the story difficult to follow. I attributed that to my just being young and not understanding some things. I watched it again, and again, and again over the years and various things still just didn't make sense. Eventually, when I was around thirty, I finally realized that it wasn't me, it wasn't that I was failing to connect the dots but that the movie just flat didn't make any sense. I couldn't understand why things happened because they were never explained because there was no reason for them to happen in the first place. I felt much better after achieving that enlightenment. Nonetheless, the movie is a fun ride which does not take itself too seriously and remains, despite its flaws, very enjoyable to watch and one of my favorite Bond films to this day.

Same for me... Diamonds are Forever is my favorite based on the fact it was my first Bond film. I grew up in a military family and my father had a part time job as a movie projectionist on Fuchu A.F.B. in Japan. He brought my brother and I to the theater while he worked. We always sat in the front row so that my father could see us through the tiny projectionist window. I remember leaving the movie with a lasting impression. I couldn't wait for the next Bond film to come out and that has been the case my entire life.

    Cinema Sins’ Sins:
It’s “Baja California”, not “Baja, California”. Baja is not a place in the US state California, Baja California is the north western most state in Mexico, located on the Baja California Peninsula and bordering California (US) to the north and Baja California Sur (another Mexican state) to the south.
One would think a channel built on picking nits would get basic North American geography correct (or do simple fact check/proof read).
I don’t normally point out nits, but this is not only such a basic mistake (This like a middle school geography mistake) that made it through multiple stages of production (at any point of which it should have been caught) but the mistake is the foundation for one of the sins.
Edit: Also, even in the clip Cinema Sins’ used, it shows a close up of the 3D map showing an oil platform off the coast of Mexico (though the Baja Peninsula itself is missing from the map, other than a tiny nub). Cinema Sins was aware of this because they focus on it for the very next sin.

Collars and cuffs is British for "Curtains match the drapes" it's not a mistake. They don't speak American.
The whole point of Baja is that its in Mexico. Bond would know this. No one calls it anything else but Baja California.
They missed that he drove around in a very small circle, passing the same building a dozen times but get mad that you can keep a 'moon buggy' running on cruise. say by just jamming the throttle.
This is possibly the worst CS I've seen.

Question for Behind the Sins: I'm curious about how the response has been regarding the change to outtakes in the CinemaSins videos. Has there been lots of positive feedback? Negative feedback? Middling feedback? Has the change boosted the channel's algorithm in regards to the viewers who would just skip past the outtakes?
For my two cents, I'm finding the change a little inconvenient. I typically watch CinemaSins on my TV's RUclips app, which as far as I know doesn't have any way to view the comments or the video description where I'd find the link to the outtakes video. So if I want to watch the outtakes I'll have to find the link on my PC either to watch it there, or to save the video to my Watch Later playlist. It's not a big problem, but if you guys are still taking feedback regarding the change to outtakes then that is mine: it's slightly inconvenient for people who watch RUclips on a smart TV.
