Noting that this method breaks ToS and may lead to account ban if someone is naughty enough to report your account. But good news, 4.0 patch seemed like Hoyoverse dropped the guard on Linux/Proton and you can install & play the game with default launcher.
Could you elaborate or maybe link an article on this? You mean the default Genshin launcher or something else? I was about to set up dual boot on the deck until I saw this video, and then your comment so now, I'm highly intrigued.
@@nifargo14rulesYes, the default Genshin launcher will work with few hiccups (mine freezes after download but restarting the launcher fixes it). There's no official article on this but we used to have an 'unofficial patch' that lets Linux (Steam Deck) users play Genshin on Linux, and the author reported that you don't need the unofficial patch anymore since it just launches even though the anti-cheat crashes .It still sends report that you don't have anti-cheat enabled to the server (according to the report) but still proceed to launch the game anyway. As for current moment, there yet to be anyone who gets banned by playing with official launcher on Steam Deck / Linux.
Thanks for sharing, I hope this'll still work for 3.6, this is literally the only game that made me consider installing Windows. After learning there were ways to play it on SteamOS but it wasn't public I figured I'd wait till it's shared. So thanks for doing that. Seeing how the company still hasn't released controller support for Android and 120 fps on PC because they love Apple money so much, I've been thinking there's no way they ever officially support the Deck. Hopefully they don't enforce their ToS, like has anyone ever gotten banned for mapping touch controls to a controller on a Android with an app like the gaming phones come with? I don't think so. Hopefully it'll be the same thing for the Deck and ppl won't make them change their stance by trying to abuse the gacha model. I believe that as long they still get their millions they'll be cool.
For real, it pisses me off so much that they dont release Controller Support on Android, like wtf? They literally made me stop playing on my tablet, my Main device for that game.. but ill guess i get a steam deck soon. Never the less, its really unfair that Apple gets Controller Support, because of money.
Is there any deal with Genshin Impact and Epic game store going run out soon? I can see Epic had a deal won't aloud Genshin Impact on Steam until contact is over, just doing guesting here.
@@raandomplayer8589 who know for future reason, don't see epic games launcher official from epic any time soon in the steam deck as it's keeps growing. Like you said is about that money. As epic did deal with many games for Exchange for money.
i did everything as you said, but when i reached the point where it says ( apply Patch ) i keep getting (Failed to apply Patch) what am i doing wrong ? ? or how do i fix it !
Cant get it to work after 3.6. Launcher will not update, „not enough storage“ but I have more then enough space and game will not launch with experimental.😢
I’m wondering if it works after the 3.6 update and if people won’t get banned. The anti-cheat was disabled for almost a month and now they re-enabled it. Will it cause accounts to be banned ? If someone tried and they still have their accounts after a couple of days, tell me 🙏🏼
There's been speculation that Genshin working without the patch was a fluke and that MiHoYo is looking to fix that. And when they do, you can always use AAGL.
It *probably* won't work as after each new update the people that work on patching for linux have to develop a patch so it usually won't work for a few days
Here's the deal. I have tinkered in SteamOS and also in Windows 10 and Ghost Spectre Windows 11 Superlite. I have Win11 Ghoste Spectre on a 1TB MicroSD Card. For the most part it works fine, but I realized that Genshin Impact does not like having the Virtual Memory set to 10,000mb. It loads WAY faster just leaving it at system managed size. This is probably due to the speed of the card. I also discovered that Genshin doesn't like 2.4ghz WiFi... You must use 5ghz WiFi or be ready for disconnections and lag spikes. Since I switched to 5Ghz WiFi and left my virtual memory at system managed, my load times have been fast and the game is buttery smooth. You should still set UMA buffer to 4GB though. I'm never going back to Steam OS. I just need to be able to play everything. And they way my steam deck works in Windows now with steam deck tools controller app installed, I don't miss STEAM OS at all.
So huh
Yeah, a new update was just released today.
The patch usually takes a few days to work again, so be vigilant!
imma drop my comment here, in case someone here can verify that the game is patched
@@striderhiryu4897 good idea, i'mma do that too. I literally got the steam deck for this and kingdom hearts and haven't figured out either.

This video comes as such a pleasant surprise, since I've been wanting to play genshin on the deck for ages now. Great and informative content btw.
great music for background, it also fit well the video, making it feel more dynamic
Are updates easy to do? For example, will the launcher automatically inform me when updates are available?

epic did not and will not take any portion of genshins money, while valve will. so, not gonna be on steam.

Now since after the maintenance it won’t update to the new patch any way to fix this???
Chances are you'll have to wait for AAGL to update their patch. But I'm currently monitoring the situation.
@@HiTechLoLife thanks a lot but unfortunately I deleted some files off the hard drive and now it’s stuck on logo screen looks like I bricked my deck 😭
@@lap87 Update everything is good now thanks a lot had to factory reset from bios menu 😎👍
So does this technically work with HSR (honkai star rail) too?
yes, just look up honkers railway launcher. u dont need to readd the repo btw it uses the same repo as anime game.
i did everything as you said, but when i reached the point where it says ( apply Patch )
i keep getting (Failed to apply Patch)

The devs behind the anime game launcher is in the process of fixing things up.
Genshin just got a new update.
Can it do Honkai Impact 3 aswell?

well have atleast 150gb free space helps alot for genshin ....
If I install it, the version is 3.4.0. How do I update to 3.4.1? Does running 3.6 run?
thanks, i tried to install it before and it wasnt working properly
Bro what about Honkai Starrail
Is it currently serving to download and install it?
is ur acc still playable now?
This is incredible! Does FPS unlock work?
> Take a wild guess as to which 5-Star was my only 5* during my entire time playing The Anime Game?

nah ive been using this for a while its fine.
Why still use the patch if it's not needed anymore. Isn't that just a risk with no benefit?

@@HiTechLoLife definitely. Im using the proton experimental version methods, and while I can start up the launcher, the game no longer boots up.
