I think the lesson here is ‘with experience comes knowledge’ in other words, it doesn’t matter what brand it is, if a piece of kit works for you then that’s enough, you learn in a practical setting, it’s no good seeing products, as issues only arise when using the particular piece of kit. For example on returning ask yourself “what worked and what didn’t?” Or “how could I have done that better?” Enjoy your adventure Abbie, Love The Shackleton family ❤😊
Great video. A voice of experience is priceless. At the age of 61 Iceland is on my to-do list. Your comments regarding mental health are really good. Take care.
Hi. I can certainly understand the chronic pain. I have spinal nerve damage from a tumour in my spinal column. I couldn’t use my old backpack anymore and seriously went and tried every rucksack I could get my hand on. In the end the one that suited me was a custom made Atom mo and I feel like my old self just getting out and doing small walks and camp again. Definitely try every hiking item to tailor to your needs. Great advice .
I'm looking at getting an Atom pack too! I have psoriatic arthritis and plan to swing by in person to be properly fitted. So glad it worked for you! Happy hiking 💕
thanks abby for a great vlog .. since lockdown i cant leave the house.... hope i can get back to my 29 mile walks. its hurts when i look at my front door... ty for a great vlog
I must of missed you at expo outdoors this year lol. Though I didn't go until the Sunday afternoon as I wanted to break free from the crowd. Cool video and see you on your next adventure 🤙 🤟
Hey Abbie! Thank you very much for this video. It really helped me prepare packing for my Iceland stay and made me feel confident it will be a pleasent stay even in uncomfy wheather. Really appreciate you doing this! :)
That was a really relaxed and insightful video - perfect kit, evolved through experience. I haven't seen some of the items before, thanks Abbie 👍 +9:58 😯♥ a Bakewell Tart bar !? I've not seen those before - genius! Huel meals sound good My 18yo Osprey Atmos has ripped, so I'm looking to try to repair it 😟
Brilliant kit list but that Rucksack was like Mary Poppins carpet bag. Coconut powder is great and loads of calories. Use it with porridge. Midges? Were they on holiday from Scotland.
Would highly recommend keeping the Garmin InReach somewhere you can reach it on the external part of the pack. If you need to use the SOS function having inside the pack isn't ideal if you get hurt and can't get into your pack.
I just discovered your amazing RUclips channel and I had to laugh when I saw that we have exactly the same sleeping bag, sleeping mat and sleeping mask! 😀 Take care! ✌
Your vid’s keep getting better 😊 Just wondering which thermarest sleeping bag did you choose, as I’ve been looking at them for some weeks. Take care out there and look after your knees 😊
Oh my gosh Abbie!! I was in Iceland for an internship for a month in August and it was the most incredible place, so glad you’ve got to experience hiking there 😁
The landscape is breathtaking. I've heard that because of all the volcanoes, there is often a sulfur odor in the air, in the water, even the people. Is this true, and if not, why not? Arthur Billingsworth, III would like to know. 🤪
Hi, who did you fly with uf you don't mind me asking. Did you carry your backpack on-board? The dimensions of my pack are different to the large bag dimensions with easyjet and I want to keep my bag with me at all times
Hi Abbie, we met you at the airport and on the plane, been looking forward to this
Thanks for enduring the mossie bites to film this and share your experience and advice with us. Amazing place to be too! 😀

I'm in Iceland quite often for work. I'm hoping to do that walk next year 🖤
Oh Abbir! This is my dream! Thank you°

Hi Abbie, your video has totally inspired me to want to do this adventure this year. Great help to see your kit review on the trip 👌
Looking forward to your video of this trail. :-)
mossies?!?! I thought Iceland had none :O

Odd question, how do you like those boots? They're in my shortlist for Christmas...
was the xlite sleeping pad warm enough or would you recommend the xtherm for an iceland camping trip?
Hi! can you tell me the final weight of your backpack? Thank you
Is that a Tilly hat Abbie? I’m getting one in sales in January.

I don't know why Osprey's are so popular and highly promoted. They are heavy liter to liter.
Hi Abbie, can you recommend a GPX file for Laugavegur?
Which boots did you use?
Is 4 Wild tees enough Abbie? 🤔
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
